Wait, if I'm correct, you can keep Innistrad until September 27.

August 2, 2013 9:32 a.m.

Yes you can, but this is a deck that I have prepared for that date and the following year.

That explains the missing M13 cards.

Your description talks about aristocrat but there arent any in the deck. Confused? ????

Well, it looks kind of inconsistent to me.

As a newer player, I never really understand why you would ever run a card only once. I also don't get the point of running 2 Rakdos Cackler s.

For the rest, I really like the concept of this deck, so if you could explain how this plays and why you use certain cards a certain amount of times, that would be great.

August 18, 2013 6:53 p.m.

The two cackler are pretty good one drops. The deck is actually rather consistent. It controls the game early with kill spells and plays large threats later. Rakdos's Return is the death of aggro and so it Blind Obedience to aggro. Then Mizzium Mortars allows for later game board wipe. The cackler is in there twice because I only have room for two. He serves his purpose as a solid one drop, or at worst, a chump blocker. My choices for one drops are few and far between.

Dreadbore will be great after the rotation and kills pretty much anything within reason, and can take out control's planeswalkers. My creatures may seem inconsistent, but this is purposely done so I am not susceptible to Slaughter Games or Detention Sphere and adds some variation so the opponent does not know what to expect.

I would say this deck is damn consistent. I playtested against it and found it very hard to combat. Dreadbore is a real bitch and your sweepers are strong as balls. Pretty strong deck

Thank you Degonvey

acw5121, the aristocrats were in here when I was in the process of revising my deck for the rotation, and this is the ultimate result. Sorry for the confusion.

Thanks for the explanation. I now understand why certain spells are in there only a certain amount of times. But still, running 2 onedrops looks weird to me, because I'm used to playing Aggro-ish decks, so my 1 drops are there to attack.

I can't imagine you rely on opening with a cackler, so I figure you just chump block with em?

I also find the way you use Assemble the Legion here quite cool.

August 21, 2013 7:33 p.m.

If I am playing a slower deck, cackler can sometimes hit four four or six damage unleashed if the opponent gets off to a bit of a slow start. And if not, he can trade off with their Scavenging Ooze if they're sick of taking two every turn, which is fine with me.

Not your typical control deck, gotta love that! It deals out a considerable amount of removal while providing a midrange push of creatures. I had to sideboard the control cards on my deck Life Flight (Post Rotation) when I playtested it to start winning rounds. Have a look and let me know what you think.

I would leave Rakdos Cackler in, he does hit for about 4 damage before I get rid of him. Obzedat, Ghost Council is the only creature that doesn't put a ton of pressure on and is difficult to get out in my opinion. I would replace it with another Desecration Demon and another Aurelia, the Warleader . They are both a real bitch to deal with.

I have never really been impressed with Blind Obedience but it does work in this deck, throws off the momentum of other decks just enough to gain advantage. As for Rakdos's Return , I mega hate that card, only because I can't run it in my deck.

Price tag is a bit steep for me, but super solid deck all around. Nice job. +1

Hey man, the only thing I'd suggest now is just to consider Rest in Peace for the sideboard, as Junk Rites will unfortunately, rip this deck a new one - mainly 'cos their creatures never stay dead after you smite them.

August 25, 2013 11:03 a.m.

I would agree completely, but since I am not playing this deck until post rotation, and that deck will be gone come September 27, I'm probably going to leave Rest in Peace out of the sideboard, but thanks for the suggestion anyway. That would definitely be useful now, but I won't need it in a month.

I'm not too sure about that cackler, to be honest it does not fit the areas your deck specializes in. Rakdos Cackler is an aggro card, and I can't really see it assuming form in this deck.

August 27, 2013 7:12 p.m.

I know a lot of people do not like the cackler, but in most matchups, he hits for four before they can do anything about him. Four damage for one mana is not bad at all. If a better one drop for these colors comes out in Theros, I'll be happy to put it in here, but as of now, cackler works out really well.

Oh, no I am a HUGE fan of the cackler, I was just saying your deck looks more midrangy from what I can see.Cackler is just amazing, I'd run 20 if I could (well, not really but you kinda get the point)

August 27, 2013 7:22 p.m.

My deck is more midrange, but that's why I only have two, and if you playtest, you'd probably find that he works out better than you might think.

How about Aurelia's Fury?

August 28, 2013 2:50 p.m.

Considered it and it really does not playtest well in here. I might sideboard it in against aggro and side out Rakdos's Return bu other than that, I can't really think of a use. Now if the text of fury read "each" instead of "divided"...

Assemble the Legion doesnt get enough credit. I didnt like it when it first came out, but the more I ran into it and then used it, I realized its obsuredly good. A lot of this deck is based on creating a stonger board presence than your opponent can make while your blowing up their stuff. Assemble is instance presence. A time bomb. Unchecked and its game over. Control hates it if it gets out and there isnt an answer. The haste makes aggro go defensive. Board wipes dont even make much difference to it unless they are played with intentions of winning before it activates again. Just casting my vote for Assemble the Legion I know others have mentioned it.

September 1, 2013 11:54 p.m.

What would I take out for it; it is yet another five drop.

Got to play against this deck tonight at FNM. It wrecked everyone, being the only deck to go 5-0. Was a blast to play against, but it was a brick wall.

Sideboard was a bit different in the copycat, Lifebane Zombie did some serious work replacing Banisher Priest , but this idea friggin' rocks. Love it! +1

September 7, 2013 1:37 a.m.

Thanks a lot. I have been considering Lifebane Zombie and I might put him in the sideboard. He would really put a hurt on naya, which is currently very strong and will still be strong post rotation.

What about replacing the two obzedats with Archangel of thunes? Not so heavy on the double black and is 3/4 flier with a pretty nasty effect.
