With the hopes that the format will be a little slower than the current meta, I wanted to build a deck that had aggressive creatures but still maintained an element of control for the 'grind em out' matches.

The deck was born when I saw Legion's Initiative and I tried to think of unique ways to abuse the card. One way I thought of was to drop a High Priest of Penance and ping it. Naturally that led me to Boros Reckoner and Olivia Voldaren. Once I was on the track for B\R\W I basically just filled in the spaces. The deck took on a vampire theme after Blood Baron of Vizkopa and Sorin, Lord of Innistrad were included. I also felt that running Vampire Nocturnus and Stromkirk Captain while pumping my board, also gave me additional ways to beef up my High Priest of Penance for Vindicate triggers.

I am planning on Boros Charm and Legion's Initiative to protect me from sweepers. Obzedat, Ghost Council and Blood Baron of Vizkopa have enough evasion to them to avoid most targeted removal and provide a constant source of life gain that I feel comfortable in the late game. Bant enchantment might be a concern if that comes back around, but I feel that with how well the deck synnergizes I can deal with most of what most decks bring.
