Couple different options here for you. Arbor Elf for some better ramp, Golgari Charm instead of the Sheltering Word word will protect your creature if the spell is targeted but not on a global wipe, the charm will protect on that end and also gives you some flexibility to also remove enchantments and can work as a token removal. As a pair for the Predator Ooze try a Nightshade Peddler then even attacking you is a risk as its only going to pump the Ooze and they are less likely to block as its only going to increase the size of the ooze again.

I'm a huge fan of Burst of Strength with the Corpsejack Menace and Desecration Demon, and I think it might be of value in the deck you have here.

if your going to do that you dont need the elk just add another geist and head and forget savagery go with miracles instead Blessings of Nature. Also adding Feed the Pack is a back up plan should you suddenly require a ton of blockers vs token populate and such. Hope I helped

Maybe 4x essence harvest is too many try 2 and 2 farseek to speed your mana along.

I think honestly you need to lose some of the cards. There's a rule of thumb that if you have more than 12 or so unique cards in your deck (you have 15) that you should make sure that all of them are useful and needed. I'd lose Ring of Kalonia, Dawntreader Elk, and maybe Increasing Savagery then increase Strangleroot Geist, Rancor, Slitherhead, and Alpha Authority. If possible i'd use Arbor Elf and Dreg Mangler.

Take a look at Vigorously Menacing Ooze Hydra Mob for ideas.

Thank you all so much for the advice! You all offer excellent suggestions but unfortunately I can only change so much! Zurnic I really appreciate your suggestions thank you. Im going to narrow down the cards I have and increase some of what I have.

Bioshift also looks quite intriguing here (thank you Bababad) due to its ability to switch counters so freely. even if i cant save a creatures life i could save those precious built up counters! I'm definitely going to maybe board it and keep that in mind.

Both Arbor Elf and Farseek have been suggested for better mana ramp, with a consensus to get rid of Dawntreader Elk. Though here is my problem with them. Because predator ooze takes 3 forests to play, I am going to need three specific land cards asap. Arbor elf is nice to let you reuse a forest, but If i dont have at least 3, he doesnt help me get my ooze out any quicker. And farseek lets you search for anything except a forest. Neither of these cards can add another forest onto the table. A card like Nature's Lore would be perfect If it was standard legal. If dawntread elk gets so much hate, Can someone suggest a card like similar to its ability that could help me get 3 forest lands onto the battlefield by asap.

Farseek can find you the Overgrown Tomb thats handy. And here is how you combo the Farseek and Arbor Elf Turn 1 forest and elf, T2 any land, then two for Farseek put a Overgrown Tomb into play tapped not paying the life cost, use Arbor Elf to untap the tomb and cast another Arbor Elf. T3 you have 4 lands down and two untap with the Elfs, Makes for up to 6 mana on turn 4, way better then the Dawntreader Elk. This is also a more reliable way to get Predator Ooze out on turn 3.

ahhh NeoHazard I had never noticed that shock lands were considered both "forests'' or ''swamps'', etc. I had assumed they said 'land' like woodland cemetery, etc.. that certainly changes things! goodbye elks. ill add in a couple farseek now.

Let me ask you though, you say one arbor elf and two forest can get me a turn two predator ooze. Is this becuase i could tap two forests, then use arbor elf to untap one of them and tap it again to make a ''third'' forest. So essentially i can tap/untap/tap the same forest and have it count as two separate mana points?

and Bababad very good point on the bioshift doubling counters because we are ''placing'' the counters onto another card!

Essentially Arbor Elf gives you one extra G mana as long as you control a Forest.

Yes your question about the elf is correct, you can tap a forest then untap with the elf and tap again for two green mana. You are tapping the land for mana, you need three green mana to cast predator ooze, it doesnt care where that mana comes from and you may add mana to your pool at any time in the same phase and it will stay there till a stage change or you use it. In the same vein one forest and two Elfs will still get you a turn three Ooze as you can tap/untap the forest a total of three times.
