Changes Pending —May 27, 2013

So after Game Day this weekend (I didn't attend FNM this week), it has come to my attention that Bant Hexproof is going to very quickly become prominent and things need to be done to combat that. This list has a good amount of spot removals and only a few non-target removals. With that said, I will be testing a few different changes to help deal with the resilient creatures of Bant Hexproof.

On the chopping block:

Mind Grind - Great win-con, but it as a one-of may prove too unreliable and it usually also requires a Crypt Ghastfoil or two to turn it into a kill.

Garruk Relentless  Flip - In most cases he gets used as an expensive removal or as a token engine that spits out just one token before dying.

Notion Thief - While the concept of siding him in against control is very attractive, I have yet to pull it off. Pretty much every control player is aware of this card and is always playing defensively in games 2-3 when it comes to using Sphinx's Revelation, only waiting for a tapped-out to do so.

On the bench:

Cyclonic Rift - this will probably come in to replace on of the Far / Away since it serves pretty much the same purpose as the first half and it has a sweep potential once I get the mana to overload it, which would be devastating.

Griselbrand - Why not run him when I run 3 Crypt Ghastfoil? His biggest draw is the lifelink. A 7/7 flying lifelink makes it easy to connect and the draw ability is simply icing on the cake.

Consuming Aberration - This would require one more two more Mind Grind and possibly Jace, Memory Adept in the mainboard but it is an option.

Liliana of the Veil - Another good planeswalker that has a potential to go through hexproof and things. I traded all but one of her away so I will probably need one or two to make it work.

Negate - Counter those auras and/or other noncreature spells like Sphinx's Revelation and planeswalkers. Also works against token decks.

That's all for now.
