I would try to fit Siege Rhino in there somewhere, maybe cut a few savants. The rhino's 6 life swing can still be devastating.

I know. I really like Siege Rhino, but I like how I can pump Woodland Wanderer even more with Beastcaller Savant. I can get a turn 3 8/8 with vigilance and trample and assuming it doesn't get removed on turn 4 it's a huge advantage. But on the other hand Siege makes a 6 point difference without having to attack on turn three if I keep in the Beastcaller. I'm not sure on how I want to run this yet. By the way I like your deck.

With Converge = 4 and Hardened Scales out the Woodland Wanderer would be a 7/7, not 8/8. Scales only adds 1 extra counter so 2/2 + 4 counters + 1 bonus counter.

Okay, I see. I forgot Beastcaller is only for creature spells. I was taking two scales into account.

I mean a 7/7 with Trample/Vigilance is so much worse than a 8/8.....

Nice deck

Haha, it is though! I really don't know if I want Undergrowth Champion in this deck. I see a lot of potential, but I'm not sure if he is the right fit. If I took him out I would probably add another Wanderer and Rhino.

I'd cut down a Managorger Hydra if anything. Don't get me wrong I know how ridiculous he gets with Hardened Scales out but Undergrowth Champion is your only creature that fights against the heavy removal decks. He can also get counters form Drana, Liberator of Malakir as well which can make him very hard to remove.

So, I should add another Champion? I see what you mean though. I'll have to do some testing to see if it's better. Also it will depend on my local meta as well.

I think if you're going to run Undergrowth Champion he needs to be a 4-of. He needs to hit the landfall to be worthwhile, so you want to be dropping him turn 3 pretty consistently for maximum effectiveness - he's a terrible topdeck late game, but if he's onboard he LOVES those (previously) crappy land topdecks!

Hmm. Maybe it would be good to have 4 of him, but I don't know what I would take out. Also I didn't feel like I would hit that landfall trigger very often when I had more than two. I feel like I'm trying to do to many things at once and I hate having to cut it down lol.

Inspiring Call might be a good sideboard card against boardwipes and it can net you quite a few cards as well in the late game! The other thing I would say is that your mana base might be shaky early between Avatar of the Resolute and Undergrowth Champion with dual green and Drana, Liberator of Malakir with dual black requirements. Have you had much chance to test it yet?

Wooded Foothills can fetch the BR and WG battle lands... Yea, you don't need the R but it's a way you could hit the colors you need more consistently.

I don't like testing it online because it doesn't feel as accurate as a real game would be and I've hardly tested it because of school and work. I did add Inspiring Call to the sideboard as well. I didn't even know about it.

alulien What would you suggest as a mana base then, if I used Wooded Foothills?

Should I just take out Hangarback Walker for Rhinos?

i have a deck like this and it works well but have to high of a curve for this deck. My recommendation would be cut the Anafenza's and the Dromoka's for hangarbacks. This will speed up your deck and help protect you from board wipes. I would also recommend dropping most of your tap lands and pain lands and add basics. this will also help you from running into starting off slow. I have had turns where my hydra was 13/13 by turn 5. you can not do that with the tap lands.

Yeah, I see what you are saying. Ibe been testing this deck more and I haven't been very happy with Anafenza's performance. Also I do hate how slow it is. I'll see what I can do to fix it. Thank you for the feedback!

Wow, thanks!! I'm glad to hear it works well! I wish I could play in tournaments, but I don't have the money to purchase some of these cards and proxys aren't legal lol!
