Counters Are Life

TR71

My friend got me into Magic by having me play the Abzan intro deck. Then I bought a Deckbulder's Toolkit and a pack of M14. That pack had Kalonian Hydra. I've been obsessed with big green creatures ever since. The kit also had Fleecemane Lion, Sunbond, and the lifegain instants above. This is an evolution of the the first deck I built from that Toolkit.

The whole point is to use Sunbond to turn life into +1/+1 counters. Voracious Wurm is a 2/2 for 2 at worst but can potentially be a huge creature for 2. Rancor and Unflinching Courage help get your huge creature to bulldoze your opponent (and the lifelink from Courage doubles the size of your creature if they have Sunbond). Feed the Clan is a nice 5-10 life gain and Predator's Rapport doubles your creatures size if you have Sunbond as well. Elvish Mystic to help get you started. The ideal target for all of this is Fleecemane Lion. Nothing worse than putting in all this work and losing it all to removal or deathtouch. Once he is monstrous you can feel free to stack up auras and counters on him. Kalonian Hydra is in because it's my favorite card but also because...double the counters! dragonlord Dramoka is just good and you don't have to worry about something happening while you attack (that friend from the story above loves aethersprouts ...and I hate blue.) Oblivion Ring for whatever they might put out that ruins your plans. Ajani, Mentor of Heroes because he can add counters or dig for the auras and creatures you need. Plus if you can ultimate him with a Sunbond out then...wow.
