for your deck i would consider Fungal Behemoth it seems like you run up counters quickly and that would (and usually does) give you a creature of probably at least 8/8 on average by turn 4 and only for 4 mana. for instance, if i get the perfect hand like in my description, my Behemoth would be an 16/16 at turn 5 and would keep growing as fast as the Hydra grows.

If anything I'd add Murkfiend Liege . I made the changes to the deck though, if you wish to view them :3

Dude, card:Tezzeret's Gambit > Steady Progress . Also, for some spot removal Contagion Clasp is good. Late game bomb could be Contagion Engine . In that same vein, Doubling Season is efficient.
Have you thought about adding any Planeswalkers that produce tokens, ala Garruk Wildspeaker , Garruk Relentless Flip ?
October 19, 2012 10:28 a.m.
i see alot of potential in Doubling Season and Garruk Wildspeaker i didnt include the Contagion cards only because i havent run into a time yet where ive actually had to get rid of an opponent's creature. usually ill just take control of it and that solves my problem. and your right about card:Tezzeret's Gambit, someone actually suggested that before i just never actually changed it on this site, i did it in my actual deck!

I would say that Doubling Season would fit better than Inexorable Tide . It has the same converted mana cost, and is only 4G vs 3UU, which means it'd be easier to cast.
Either Garruk could be very beneficial.
Excellent concept, btw +1 Is this listed as Modern?
I brewed up a Modern deck recently:

Let me know what you think!

In my playtesting of my own Graft deck, I found Inexorable Tide to be too much mana for little. Definitely replace with Doubling Season
October 19, 2012 12:24 p.m.
i agree with both of you guys, Doubling Season earns me way more bang for my buck and in less time
@aeonstoremyliver as far as i'm aware its modern legal, i dont play many tournaments, mostly casual stuff so i would have to double check it.

ill also playtest around with a few Garruk planeswalkers, doubling season would make them extremely effective when combined

Cool man, I think this would be great in a Modern tourney!
My personal favorite is Garruk Relentless Flip . He pops out 2/2 Wolf tokens for free, is a source of removal. When he flips his +1 is 1/1 Deathtouch Wolf tokens, tutors a creature, and has a form of Overrun . Garruk Wildspeaker gives you ramp, 3/3 Beast tokens, and Overrun . Pretty solid either way!

Lastly, I'd include some Breeding Pool and/or Hinterland Harbor to make your mana base more effective. Perhaps even Misty Rainforest to fetch Breeding Pool or a basic land.

Yes, but you should wait for Gatecrash before going after Breeding Pool , as it should be released as a reprint. Also, Hinterland Harbor is a must in this kind of deck, or it will screw you over. Misty Rainforest is only if you want to risk losing life for the fetching.
October 19, 2012 1:27 p.m.
i'd love some Hinterland Harbor s just for the sake of having an amazing dual land. but im not a huge fan of "fetch" land cards like Misty Rainforest or a Terramorphic Expanse type of deal. id rather just add extra land cards, you know what i mean? i feel they take up valuable real estate in a deck.
on the flip side ill playtest this deck a few times with 3 Hinterland Harbor s in it and see if i notice an improvement. thanks for the suggestions man, much appreciated!

Well, the point of Misty Rainforest , Scalding Tarn , or Verdant Catacombs is to fetch Breeding Pool , as it counts as both a Forest and an Island as a sub-type. Lay down the Misty Rainforest , sac it at the end of the opponent's turn, Breeding Pool comes into play tapped, and voila! Your turn it becomes untapped!s
October 19, 2012 1:32 p.m.
OH!! i never used any of those properly then. i like that idea much better than how i played them, i might mess around with that a bit to see how it works! thank for clarifying and opening my mind up to how they SHOULD be played!

In addition to letting you choose which type of land you want to search for (color fixing), the fetch lands also thin out your deck, making your chances of drawing a non-land spell higher.

aeonstoremyliver says... #18
Hehe! You COULD lay Misty Rainforest 1st turn and sac it for Breeding Pool , having it come into play untapped, losing a total of 3 life, if you REALLY wanted to play 1st turn. I see that you have no 1 CMC stuff, which is also something to consider. But, if it ain't broke, don't fix it as they say.

@ hunter9000 You really don't see results from 'deck thinning' until much, much later in the game. To REALLY thin out your lands, Primeval Titan is boss.

Simic Initiate is a really amazing Graft card that should be in this deck. A one drop with Graft 1 is all it takes to make a 3/3 come into play as a 4/4, then a counter from Llanowar Reborn makes that 4/4 a 5/5 :)

@aeonstoremyliver: Fetch some Cathedral of War s for some exalted trampling Titans :D

ROFL... DUDE!!!! You just gave me an idea!!! And you shouldn't have. . . lol.
October 19, 2012 1:45 p.m.
i might make a separate deck utilizing this ability of fetching lands, because hunter9000 has a point, it will help thin out my deck and can help bring out what i need mid-game. i very much like how this deck has turned out and the only thing i really would change or add is possibly a few planeswalkers and some dual lands.
October 19, 2012 1:47 p.m.
Very cool deck =D
I think Throne of Geth over Doubling Season and throw in some Ichor Wellspring s would be a good way to go if the player doesn't have access to Doubling Season (as it's pretty pricy), since the rest of the deck is fairly cheap.
+1 =D
October 22, 2012 3:59 p.m.
Throne of Geth would be useful if i used an artifact deck with proliferate, but Doubling Season is way more effective, especially with my Primordial Hydra s:
think of it, say i get out my hydra turn 3 as a 2/2 like in my description, by turn 5 its already an 8/8, now if Doubling Season is played that turn, at turn 6 that same hydra will be a 24/24 instead of a 16/16, as for everything else, itll work as a proliferate2.0 that drops two +1+1 counters each time a counter is added. THAT is why i switched to Doubling Season , i can see a solid combo between Throne of Geth and Ichor Wellspring , but in my opinion it wont make this deck any better than it already is.
i very much appreciate the suggestion AND the +1, and i think that Throne and Wellsprings could work nicely in a new deck im working on! thanks!

Good point. I might replace him now with something else in my deck.
