Have you thought about a single copy of Novijen, Heart of Progress ? It would let you put a counter on the opponent's creature that just entered. It would give the Cytoplast Manipulator another option for a steal.

i have thought about it but never went ahead with it. and even if i dont want to do that i could use it for my own creatures to beef them up, so i guess 1 or 2 copies couldnt hurt!

You could try Gilder Bairn and maybe sideboard Plaxcaster Frogling for some extra protection

What's the point of Shielding Plax when you can have Plaxcaster Frogling ? Pseudo-shroud is much better than single-shroud, and graft goes well with the deck. Also, needs Gilder Bairn . This card is so duh, you can't have a counters/graft/prof deck without it. Seriously, the card is insane if you can tap it enough times, not to mention Experiment Kraj can gain its ability for a +1/+1 counter, then untap for a 3-mana Evolution Vat effect - without tapping the creature! Just as well, Sage of Fables is a great card draw, with all your prof effects one single counter shouldn't matter that much on a Primordial Hydra that's been doubling its counters. And if you still want Shielding Plax , you can put in Simic Guildmage to move it around along with your counters.
In your ideal game, however, the Primordial Hydra requires GG, so you can't play an Island on that turn - you need to play a Forest, or else your mana pool will be GUU, instead of GGU.
Looks like a fun deck nonetheless!

i actually did stop using Shielding Plax in this deck for the same reason you posted. i just never updated this deck in like 3 weeks! i very much dig Gilder Bairn and i agree, it could help this deck become so much better than it already is. ill try putting in 3 and 4 of them and see what works best.
thanks for the ideal game catch, i meant to have a forest at turn 3 but put the island instead. thanks a lot!

You need Fungal Sprouting . great way to get lots of 1/1 saphroling tokens. I used it on a pacified Primordial Hydra and got 256 saphrolings.

@Mac97: Nah, the deck doesn't need Fungal Sprouting . Reason why? Here's a question for you:
Q: IS THIS A TOKEN DECK?
A: NO
I mean, I see the use of the card, but who cares about a pacified Primordial Hydra if you have the amazing Simic Guildmage who would be more than happy to move the annoying 'chant to itself. Which the deck doesn't need then, because there's something called Plaxcaster Frogling which gives it shroud, and would most likely prevent the opponent from even trying to use anything of the sort if you leave mana open. And, of course, this deck doesn't have guildmages, but Froglings, which serve the same purpose anyway and the Froglings are amazingly good at stopping targeted removal, which Guildmages can't do, and thus your opponent will still be overrun with creatures, with or without the Sprouting.
All I'm saying is, put the Sprouting in a deck with Champion of Lambholt instead.

All I got from that was you don't want Fungal Sprouting and I should use a Champion of Lambholt .

And all I meant was don't use Fungal Sprouting unless you want to use Champion of Lambholt .
January 14, 2013 8:50 p.m.
Champion of Lambholt works too slow, even if i proliferate it and graft counters onto it its nothing to be afraid of unless you use a token heavy deck like you said, and even then its only an issue if trample gets added to it
thanks for the suggestions.

Maybe 1 or 2 card:Alchemist's Refuge? Casting Sleep at instant speed is nasty.

Oh no doubt Doubling Season is the better option. The suggestion was more of a thought for people who don't have the money to get Doubling Season .
Mycosynth Wellspring is another option for your other deck idea =D
