I was looking for a fun Standard deck, so I played against a guy using
Collected Company
.
Trying to do something with this and counters. I focused first in building a deck centered around Collected Company, and it turned out to be a Abzan Counter deck. I changed some things and turned it back to G/W. And added expensive stuff.
Deathmist Raptor
+
Den Protector
FTW
Kytheon, Hero of Akros
is thescapegoat of the deck. Usually it's the main target of enemy spells, so he's here to scare the crap away while the other creatures do their things. And, if transformed, it turns into a considerable threat with the indestructible stuff. A good thing to summon in turn 1.
Managorger Hydra is another wonderful threat, even more with trample. It can reach bigger heights and become much bigger than the usual dragons and defend them because of the one below:
Abzan Falconer
gives flying to everyone with +1/+1 counters; passing over Siege Rhino and taking those 3 points back is priceless. Besides, I love the outlast cost, very cheap. After some testing, I prefer to give flying rather than first strike, so I maxed them out and took
Ainok Bond-Kin
away.
Anafenza, Kin-Tree Spirit is the ideal turn 2 creature, giving counters to everyone after her and accelerating the field presence. With a turn-4
Collected Company
, it's a must.
Avatar of the Resolute works a pseudo-wyrm in mid-game, easily reaching 5/6 or 6/7 with only GG. Reach and trample sweeps tokens, and gives me some protection against Dragons. Not sure if they can keep themselves here because of Managorger Hydra, but they are better at summoning from hand. It's also a main target for changing into the Side Board stuff.
Ainok Guide
was taken out for Windswept Heath. Better ramping and it can search an active Canopy Vista. Too much expensive but it works much better.
Warden of the First Tree is here for some testing. I think he's slow, but I saw many people using at least 2 of them, so maybe it wouldn't be bad to use him too. Another card which has substitutes in Side Board.
Whisperwood Elemental
is the last resort, when everything is lost. Helps me to survive 2 or 3 more turns, and it can change the tides if I manifest Den Protector during midgame or endgame.
I need something to draw more and to recover the creatures from the graveyard, though.
