Thanks , I had it in before but in the end it usually ended up being a dead draw.

I'm just going to say that my experience with hydras leads me to say it cannot hold up in multiplayer games unless you can outplay 3 other decks with your ramp. But still a nice deck, +1.

Hey thanks for the comment, surprisingly this deck does pretty well in multiplayer but then again I play against a Mirror-Sigil Sergeant deck and a Trostani, Selesnya's Voice token deck so not the most competitive group ever.

What I meant by what I said is: my group will single me out just for playing a Kalonian Hydra on turn 3. And I know those decks can be strong mid-late game, so I guess this deck just out speeds those.

I feel that Dash Hopes would only be beneficial if you need to counter something strong. But, that Trostani deck could have enough life built up to just pay the 5 life to counter your counter.

Yeah I was thinking I would just put Dash Hopes in the side board.

Urabrask the Hidden is a nice touch. The only thing scarier than a huge hyrda is one coming at you NOW! Haha

Thanks for the comment, yeah so far it's been doing very well in here.

I love casual multiplayer. This deck looks good though, you can add anything so I usually focus on fixing a problem or push a theme harder. I assume you would have included Doubling Season if you owned some? That is my favorite card in the game. That Solidarity card looks like it does pretty well though for that purpose.

I used to have Doubling Season in here but every time I would draw it I would wish it had been a creature instead so I cut them for Vorinclex, Voice of Hunger and Urabrask the Hidden. So far I'm liking it but I still might put back in Doubling Season just because of the flavor.

Do your creatures die a lot or the pressure is on early? I would cast some of those hydras when you have 6 mana or more, so on mana 5 you could set up a bomb hydra in the next turn by casting D Season. I notice your low drops - Arbor Elf and Voyaging Satyr are important to you - I don't see any blockers while you're ramping up - I have gotten into the habit of using Farhaven Elf or Sylvan Ranger, or better yet Viridian Emissary, so that they do something for you, but then they are an easy blocker because you won't lose anything when they die. Now that depends on the meta situation of your group - if you get hit by a lot of hast fliers, then probably go with Deadly Recluse, because sometimes the best way to ramp is to stay a live until you get the higher end of your mana :)

I play against a Mirror-Sigil Sergeant deck a Trostani, Selesnya's Voice deck a Master of Cruelties deck and a death touch deck. So there not super fast decks the big thing is they all have kill spells or Pacifism type cards that really hurt my hydras that's why I decided to add more creatures. Thanks for all your advice :)

How effective is this deck from a competitive standpoint? I'm interested as my favorite creatures to play are hydras.

Sadly this deck isn't very competitive because although you get the big hydras out fast there are so many removal spells in modern that they die right away, Also hand disruption kills this deck. But it's very fun and competitive in multiplayer games since all the removals not coming for you.

This deck can very easily be made competitive if you wanna burn a bunch of your money. Here's my sort-of captain obvious advise.

I'm gonna pretend like you want this competitive, remember this comes from the heart <3

You don't want to have to tap out to pay these huge mana costs, and you don't wanna have to rely on a shit load of creatures that are vulnerable to sweepers. Because of this, you're gonna have to find another way to make your mana. If I were you, I would build R/G Hydratron (an ancient deck I've deleted from my page but I can pass it to you if you want), in order to allow you to pay absurd prices for your X costs.

Or you could cut red, and make the deck mono-green. That could also help you out. I also see that your deck makes no use of the Graveyard, which means perhaps you could use an egg-relic of proggie engine to draw and cycle thru.

Anyway, if you play mono-green, you'll use a sideboard full of phyrexian-hate cards. You'll also probably need some sort of Nature's Claim-y cards to fight affinity and crap like that.

I'm assuming you'll stay green.

7x Forest, 1x Mountain, 4x Wooded Foothills, 4x Rootbound Crag, 4x Stomping Ground, 2x Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx, 1x Kessig Wolf Run.

If you play with that, you should probably consider running Lightning Bolts and maybe Through the Breach. If you wanna do a tron type of thing, you'd just play the twelve tron pieces and the karplusan or the grove of burn willows.

That would cost a LOT of money though.

You'd also need sweepers either way, so I'd say Perilous Vault or Oblivion Stone. However, they cost a billion dollars each, so playing red would be so good because of Volcanic Fallout and Pyroclasm. Hell, you should be playing MORE red to have more of a chance against stupid crap like infect.

4x Ancient Grudge will be your best friend if you continue down the R/G path, and you'll also probably wanna find another way to pop non creature permanents.

You could also use a land destruction engine if that gets you off.

We've seen that the splendrous and underpriced card Mwonvuli Acid-Moss can be useful.

There's Rending Volley for that annoying U/W type of deck.

Also, why are you playing things that untap lands if your lands only produce one mana of their respective color anyway? Like I understand you're playing red and so you would also need the Honored Hierarch frozen after its renown trigger.

I suppose that for now in MTG there is no other way.

Actually, maybe try the Urza package. I think it could be a cute idea.

4x Urza's Power Plant, 4x Urza's Mine, 4x Urza's Tower, 1x Forest, 4x Copperline Gorge, 1x Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx, 1x Ghost Quarter, 1x Eye of Ugin.

And then you can play Emrakul, the Aeons Torn and make more fatties!

4x Ancient Stirrings or the Sylvan Scrying package could work. There's also the R/G Talisman, and a couple of eggs that you could play if you do wanna play this.

If you do play tron, you'd cut all the untapping creatures and cut down the deck sizeably.

Actually nvm you'd wanna play more green sources in this case of Tron.

Hey thank you very much for all the suggestions. Im actually already building a Tron deck Hallowed Tron to be a competitive deck. The reason for this deck is purely fun because I love hydras so I wanted to build a deck around them. But I might put in the Tron lands at some point.

If your deck has issues with removal killing your hydras, try playing Hooded Hydra.
