Thanks for the suggestion, do you think Mistcutter Hydra or Hooded Hydra is better ? I don't play against many blue decks but the haste is helpful.

It depends on the matchup. I like Hooded Hydra more if I'm trying to play more of a grindy game, and Mistcutter Hydra if I'm trying to race my opponent.

I'll try out Hooded Hydra and see how it goes.

I playtested it and its very fun especially when you can ramp up your mana. You should try Bioshift in your deck, might come in handy and let you preserve all the counters you had on a creature in response to it being killed or removed with a spell.

For some reason I thought of Sesame Street when I saw the title. Rename it 'Counting with Count Hydrula' ONE ha ha ha, two ha ha ha. In all seriousness though, Solidarity of Heroes could make for a good combat trick.

Thank you both very much for the suggestions and Upvotes :), I do like Bioshift ill add it to the sideborad. Also I used to have Solidarity of Heroes in here but I switched it out for Doubling Season and Hero's Downfall I'm not opposed to putting it back in but I do really like Doubling Season any thoughts on wich is better?

Solidarity of Heroes is nice because it can be used for surprise damage. Lets say you swing for 10 with Primordial Hydra and if they dont block and accept the damage you can then surprise them with 20 ftw. Personally I'd go for Solidarity of Heroes for the ability to double when needed. try both and see what works.

Put in 1 basic swamp and take out a forest.

How about 1x Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth instead.

Garruk, Apex Predator costs 7, though.. if you just wanted to kill planeswalkers, couldn't you just run like Hero's Downfall? Or is that not modern-legal

Also, consider Hardened Scales. It's only one extra counter per increase, but that means you can get more value out of casting a hydra with 1 counter on it, and beefs up Primordial Hydra faster.

...Which might not be modern-legal either, lol.. I need to find out how old a card has to be for this format

Thanks for the suggestions. I used to have Hero's Downfall in here but my play group has a lot of planeswalkers and I needed a repeatable way to kill them. Also I'm considering Hardened Scales I just need to test it out first.

Fair enough.

If your playgroup is big on multiplayer games, Managorger Hydra might be neat. Especially spicy with Hardened Scales lol

HydraOoze. I just had to come back and tell you that you are missing two cards that would make this go from great to down right diabolical... Bow of Nylea + Nylea, God of the Hunt

Thank you very much for the suggestion, I do like that combo but most of my hydras already have trample and deathtouch isn't as useful because most of the time my hydras are stronger then my opponents creatures already. I'll definitely test it out though

Also if anyone has an opinion on it I'm wondering if Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx is worth keeping? I put it in originally because I used to have Voyaging Satyr in here but I ended up cutting them.

Ever think about Heroes' Bane, or Overwhelming Stampede?

HydraOoze says... #21

I used to run Heroes' Bane but I replaced it with Managorger Hydra because it's better early game.

I'd say Mistcutter is better in the sideboard in case you run into blue, while hooded hydra will always be useful, since it can create tokens.

Thank you for the input I'll go ahead and put Hooded Hydra in the main bored

HydraOoze first Hydras>other, my suggestion is -2/-4 Arbor Elf for +2/4 Birds of Paradise and then a few good cards: Asceticism, Rogue's Passage, Essence Harvest <--(could be letal in mine and your deck), Tooth and Nail, Doubling Chant

Abundant Growth..its a good card..with arbor elf cause you could get 4 mana out of it..plus the card gives you a draw effect..its been very useful in many of my decks..and Primal Surge
