But then my heroes wouldn't untap during my untap steps but I like where your head is at.

I was looking for a place to put my baby fetches. Lemme see what kind of land base I can pull I don't like playing too many land. Never been my Cup o Tea. Thank you for checking this out!

with the Thaumaaturge fits better Ajani's Presence than Ranger's Guile or Gods Willing ....also i think Aqueous Form is far more relevant than Stratus Walk ... +1 from me for your budget deck.

Awesome suggestions thanks! Move to 3 on the aqueous form sets up the draws some much better than I anticipated. And the cat presence fits the theme aswell providence.

I realise that this deck's theme is counters, but as far as Bant Hexproof goes, it doesn't really fit. If you want counters, Abzan is definitely the way to go here. Bant is an enchantment shard and that's why the hexproof creatures are favoured in it.
Sagu Mauler and Bassara Tower Archer are obvious picks for creaturebase.
Normally I'd suggest Sylvan Caryatid but since this is a budget deck, Kiora's Follower should do fine.
Heliod's Emissary to dig out enchantments for your hexproof guys. Stuff like Spectra Ward goes pretty well here. Maybe Battle Mastery .
Boon Satyr is a very versatile card and fits well in the Hexproof archetype. He's also pretty cheap.
Counterspells, since boardwipes are the only things that can really stop a hexproof deck. Dissolve and Negate work fine for this.
Possibly AEtherspouts just against those aggro matchups for sideboard.
If you still want to run Battlefield Thaumaturge just for the strive cards, that's fine, but you don't really need to.
Anyway this is all just my opinion.

Thank you for your input ill put some hought into your suggestions I'm a fan of really low cmc averages.

You could run Hero of Iroas and Ephara's Enlightenment if you want to keep that low casting cost while keeping the counter theme and using quality auras like Boon Satyr .
Solidarity of Heroes works well with a counter theme and Battlefield Thaumaturge. It can activate heroic on creatures that don't even have a +1 counter on them and then give them 2 counters. And beefs the hell out of anything with a number of counters already on them.
I'd definitely put in Bassara Tower Archers no matter what. He gets beefed up fast. And the counterspells are a must for any deck with blue in it.
But I guess it depends on the final direction you choose for the deck.

ok so you want to go on a budget. so fetches are out of the question and why use temples when gain lands are cheaper. i think scry's are better since they are kinda "free." Um i have considered doing a bant aggro list i think maybe you should just go full on heroic. Making this a straight heroic list should make it efficient, yes heroic decks sometimes are always consistent, but if built right they can be. if you want i can give you the break down on how i would make this list. just let me know and i will give you a list.

Hero of Iroas does not bring you any real value, the only card it reduces the cost of is your epharas.
you -really- want to include Seeker of the Way that dude is a champ. Gets bigger and gains lifelink on any spell cast.
Personally, i do not like Battlefield Thaumaturge i don't think you are ever going to want to target him with a spell, and he only reduces a couple of your spellcasts.
you should include Gods Willing it is really solid protection for your deck. Also consider Swan Song one mana prowess trigger and can stop a removal spell.
Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx will be almost irrelevant in a tri colour deck.
Also, consider - Battlewise Hoplite he is solid value gives you scry and gets big fast.I would like to see some card draw.
ideally Dig Through Time but Treasure Cruise could work just as well.Ordeal of Thassa works well with heroic guys, and Hardened Scales means that more than likely you will draw cards from it the turn you play it.
Similarly Ordeal of Nylea would give you solid ramp.Elvish Mystic is not very useful in this deck. since your average converted mana cost is so low.
Consider putting some large threat cards in the deck - e.g. Polukranos, World Eater or Soul of Zendikar
again i know cost is an issue.but i would love to see Ajani, Mentor of Heroes in this deck.
i hope my ideas have helped.
October 20, 2014 3:54 a.m.
I would go 4x Favored Hoplite 4x Fleecemane Lion 4x Battlewise Hoplite 4x Seeker of the Way 4x Hero of Iroas 4x Ordeal of Thassa 4x Aqueous Form 2x Warriors' Lesson 4x Gods Willing 4x Feat of Resistance 2x Hardened Scales i still want to fit in cards like Vanguard of Brimaz , Launch the Fleet and Stratus Walk . i may just put stratus walk in over warrior's lessons
October 20, 2014 4:15 a.m.
i think you need something to interact with opponents creatures, so something like Setessan Tactics or Retraction Helix would be a good fit. Glimpse of the Sun God is a good card too
October 20, 2014 4:19 a.m.
I'm not entire sure where you like to go with it. Personally I'm not a big ran of Battlefield Thaumaturge and I don't see nykthos doing much in this deck either.
I get the eot glimpse all your creatures for 1 then untap and youve got yourheroic triggers but I feel there are better ways.
Consider the mix of Mortal's Ardor + Sunbond , god's willing is a nice trigger that makes you unblockable (most of the time) and gives you scry to help get what you need.
October 20, 2014 12:27 p.m.
Icy Blast is better than Glimpse the Sun God . Same tap effect but they don't untap if you have a monstrous Fleecemane Lion or you have triggered heroic enough.
October 20, 2014 12:33 p.m.
Yeah but he's not using it on enemies, he's using it on himself, meaning if he has a monstrous fleecemane, he loose an entire turn to trigger heroic
October 20, 2014 12:36 p.m.
Thank you so much think it's resettling now. Went with seekers and pridemate and an abundance instant speed protection feat over willing because with thaumaturge it's (w) thank you for you help. And +1s of courser.
October 20, 2014 2:26 p.m.
I was playing around with a similar build (varying around hexproof) but just didn't follow through with it. But! I like the idea quite a bit.
What about using Sylvan Caryatid 's because hexproof ramp is as good as they come, although I do realize I does take it out of budget range.
Adding the caryatids with the ramp can open up options like Spectra Ward or Sagu Mauler or dare I say both?
My idea was attaching a Spectra Ward on a Aegis of the Gods , which was janky, but a funny idea none the less because if you pull that off. Good luck getting rid of it.
I also think Negate would be a better fit over Swan Song . The birds would most likely stack against you, seeing as you don't have any fliers.
Stubborn Denial could be pretty good in here as well.
October 20, 2014 11:05 p.m.
Stubborn denial makes perfect sense to me thank you afraid the caryatid won't make the build overall goal is to make threats which hit the board like an anchor early and push damage through while boofing up the pridemates with lifegain. I like mauler as again come but well see. With my mana base double devotion is tough though I'll most likely trade for some fetches

I like this build because i really like the thaumatruge. He can be fun for sure. Maybe consider some of these cards for this build. As already mentioned. Icy blast Would be good in here because if you have triggered some heroics it will keep them from untapping one turn and that could be all you need to swing for the win. I really like Curse of the Swine as a BT synergy spell. Use it on their fatties or turn your 1/1 soldier tokens into 3/3 boars. Nice. A great one drop creature for this build would be Triton Shorestalker he seems meek enough until you have some scales out and drop and ordeal on him. before they know it you are swinging for for each turn unblockable and they have to spend their removal on him instead of the lion. Another fun spell to consider may be Phalanx Formation double strike is deadly and when you can give it to your whole crew plus trigger heroics damn dangerous if you ask me. I love the pridemate in here with the lifegain lands. Brilliant way to make him fat as heck really quickly especially when you have out a scales. I really like this build.. Oh yeah someone already mentioned it but it is good to enough to bring back up. Warriors' Lesson triggering two for one CMC and possibly drawing cards is nice. Lastly...sideboard.... I f i were you i would be running some enchantment removal. Erase possibly some Eidolon of Rhetoric (though i dunno if she is budget) Disdainful Stroke for those running stormbreath or heavy walker decks. Possibly Phyrexian Revoker for the later mentioned (lord knows it won me a match up against bug walkers all by itself rendering ashiok useless.) Gainsay might also be a nice fit in the side. Let me know how this build works out for you if you take it to any tournies.

Thank you so much the shorestalker is not to be slept on indeed and it would be a great win. Trying a copy of formation and your sb suggestions as you can see rang true thanks!

Neat deck here! I've got a jeskai deck(Jeskai Thaumaturge Control) that uses Battlefield Thaumaturge , one of my favorite cards! I think you should try out Incremental Growth from khans, imagine how crazy it'd be with the thaumaturge! Ajani Steadfast looks like he could be pretty awesome, too. Hardened Scales makes him pretty badass and Ajani's Pridemate fits right in! Icy Blast could do some serious work as well!
October 21, 2014 2:06 a.m.
Suspension Field I think could be a great option in here as well, if not for the SB

I Personally would use icy blast if you're trying to abuse the counters. make fleecemane 4 and tap your opponents creatures for a full turn
