The overall strategy is to get out a thaumaturge to reduce the cost of my instant protection spells and heroic triggers..turn three cast another 2 drop leaving mana open to cast glimpse or feat of resistance offering protection to your creatures as necessary attacking while maintaining composure and pressure as with the protection spells offer your creature generally survives and gets . Depending on what you have on the field often enough you can tap there remaining defense and trigger heroics end of their turn 5 and swing for lethal or close to it with more than likely the possibility of another turn.

How many creatures are you comfortable casting at one time? I feel like utility creatures like Battlefield Thaumaturge , tend to Be more defensive when what you want is to be aggressive. I built a shell like this but with just blue and white. I'm wondering if the dip in green helped make it a real big threat. I loved having him AND sage of hours out and then glimpsing at end of their turn for some free triggers. It seems more control oriented too. I'd really like to discuss your meta too.

My heroic deck works with evasion and cheap triggers but I just couldn't see justifying the 3x slot for the thaumaturge because I only run 14 creatures to begin with.

Hardened scales seems to be the main reason I would go 3 color though!!! Love this concept, love your take on it, and I love that you made use of sage of hours. Haha. I use Artisan of Forms in my sideboard instead of sage. Not sure which one is better though. +1

Thaumaturge is a contender for one one my favorite cards in standard. He makes every instant sorcery spell cheaper broken cheap in some cases. And when you touch him and trigger his heroic he turns to a stone. And with phalanx anthemness being thrown around nothing is little long.

I agree! Thaumaturge is awesome! I liked this deck when it was budget and it's even more amazing now. I have tried to create a UW Heroic deck utilizing him so it would be easier for budget purposes! If you could check out A Heroic Budget I would appreciate it!

hmmm I like it. but I think the decks curve is a little to fast for Abzan Falconer I might recommend Battlewise Hoplite . I just love that card.

Generally the falconer drops late game you know turn 4 or 5 and rocks the field sending all my threats into the sky.

What about Dauntless Onslaught? With Battlefield Thaumaturge it's only one W to play. And if you just glimpsed the field then that's an extra 4 damage and possible heroic triggers. Seems like an awesome card with the thaumaturge

Are you splashing green for 2 cards in the main deck? That seems counter productive. It's forcing you to play 4 mana confluence, making your mana base really painful. If adding green fixed a particular matchup, or added a critical sideboard card I could see it, but it's not like any of the green cards are necessary to the function of the deck. Truthfully it probably hurts you. It makes your mono red matchup horrendous. Basically you need to ask yourself is "Does Hardened Scales make my deck better than a typical, more consistent, U/W heroic deck." If the answer to that question is yes then keep doing you, if not trying sticking to plain old U/W heroic.

tooTimid thank you for your critiques I've made some changes to lessen the damage taken from lands IMO hardened scales is a must as generally every game it enables me to maximize the extra turns I take with sage of hours and synergizes with the rest of the heroic shenanigans moving my creatures quickly from -2/-2 and 3damage range.

Whoa, now there's way too many fetches without enough targets! Increase basics and decrease fetches ASAP! Plus, perhaps there are a few other green cards that may make the green splash more worth it, like Sunblade Elf and the like?

Glad to help!

Did we just add Sylvan Caryatid, or did I miss it the first time through? Either way I'm not a fan. We curve out at three, and have to be extremely aggressive if we want to stand a chance against many of the main decks in the format. The mana generated from SC will not be relevant in most games. Don't make your deck worse by forcing yourself into green. I'd suggest replacing it with Battlewise Hoplite. It filters draws, and it gets bigger. I'd also suggest some number of Defiant Strike. You often can run out of cards in your hand early in the game, and be forced to top deck. Defiant Strike works as a pump spell that replaces it's self. Think of it has +2/1 (Heroic) and draw a card.

Also I like Gods Willing over Ajani's Presence. Two of the major removal spells in the format are Jeskai Charm and Abzan Charm. Ajani's Presence does nothing against either of these. Gods Willing also helps you punched through stalled boards. Against mono green, which seems to be one of the harder matchups, you can build up a voltron creature and then Gods Willing to break through all their green creatures. It also stops Anger of the Gods in it's tracks, while Ajani's Presence will only help your X/3's.

tooTimid's suggestions are remarkably sound. The draw of strive in Ajani's Presence is quite strong, though, especially with Battlefield Thaumaturge out and about.

I did add the caryatid in playtesting he comes off as a better T2 for me than I anticipated as he needs no protection like the other vulnerable 2 drops in the deck generally allowing me to drop any of my creatures T3 with confidence I can still off protection to my sage seeker leader or thaumaturge. He also affords me the possibility of adding ajani. I'm gonna take some time to ponder these things. I've got a different brew scratching at my brain right now and I'm afraid if I don't let it out it may shit itself. Thanks again.

Ajanis presence can double a mass heroic triggin festival when they think their Elspeth has you by the gummies or you've gone and angered the gods. I'll be in ponderance on these.

I think it was brought as perhaps the bane of this deck possibly? Nothing scary at all. Well I guess my giant sage will just have to retain his counters and molest your face while your creatures lay tapped before you helpless. Cheers 2 words "Buck Futtah".
