Seeing as this deck will make people attack you, what about something like Sangromancer to gain some extra life off the discards?

I feel like Duskmantle Seer is pretty dangerous. How has Iron Maiden player so far?

I like your deck; I built basically the same thing here:

Maybe you'll see something in my list that works for you =) I find that most of my 1v1 kills are caused more by discards than drawing. I don't run many creatures since I'm wiping the board frequently while I build up.

MindAblaze! Yeah I am frequently a target with some of my edh decks lol, but this one more than my Oloro it seems. Guess they don't like me messing with their hands as well as taking damage from tossing those hands. ;)

I do need to update this as I did find Duskmantle Seer to not work for me. Iron Maiden has worked fine the one or two times I have seen it so far. Usually the opponents are full up with cards, and one friend has a Reliquary Tower in hand and thought he was doing well keeping all the cards he was drawing off my Font of Mythos , until I threw down the Iron Maiden haha.

Thanks actiontech I will take a look. Most of the creatures in mine are there for their draw triggers or damage upon me or opponents drawing triggers. I have found a couple of them to be rather useless. Dragon Mage for one. Unless I put in something that makes him unblockable, I won't get him through for his trigger upon damage. So I am toying with taking him out for something else.

Yeah, I had Dragon Mage in originally as well, but like you I found him to be a dud.

I think I am going to put in Hive Mind , Duskmantle Guildmage , Teferi's Puzzle Box , and Mindcrank . Not sure what I want to take out. So far I have two just need to figure out two more. Chandra Ablaze can come out, as well as Leyline of the Void .

I am going to lose two lands, Vivid Marsh and Grixis Panorama and put in Cavern of Souls and Boseiju, Who Shelters All . A decent number of my creatures are wizard types as well as my general, and Boseiju protects my many wheels from counters when I cast them.

Deck seems pretty solid. Something that's sped my list up was actually dropping the land count to add more mana rocks, "ramp spells" like Seething Song and cost reduction spells like Arcane Melee . They're the only access to "ramp" we have with the grixis colors. I play around 26 lands in my list and can cast nekusar consistently by turn 3. Also Dream Halls is a beast. Since your playing Niv-Mizzet, you could also consider adding Curiosity , Ophidian Eye , Tandem Lookout , Helm of the Ghastlord , and Mind Over Matter . All of these combo with Niv and are allow massive card advantage with nekusar.

Check out Nekusar's Perfect Storm for more ideas and card choices. I'm always lookin for advice and +1s.

How about Bloodgift Demon and Winds of Change ? Thran Dynamo is a very under utilized ramp in EDH Darksteel Ingot is good ramp too

Thanks PrestonShilling!

I am mostly doing damage to opponents on draws and discards so not sure I would do many of the ones when my creature damages an opponent I draw. Or those engines really. I am afraid of decking myself. I would have to put in something like Laboratory Maniac to hedge my bets on that strategy. I do like the idea of Dream Halls and Arcane Melee .

Thanks for checking mine out, I have looked at yours before looking for ideas. ;) My favorite thing about this site is finding new ideas or combos. :) Gave yours a +1, it definitely deserved it!! :)

Thanks Kozelek!

Not sure Bloodgift Demon is something I might put in. So far with all the draw effects I have not had a worry about cards in hand, I have either had plenty or wheel'd when low and had a full hand again. My Howling Mine and Font of Mythos type cards really help keep my hand going. Also, I think most of my aim is damage on opponent draws and discard, not on my draws.

Thran Dynamo is a great card and I just freed one up last night to put into this ... you read my mind didn't you lol. Darksteel Ingot is a good rock, and great that it is indestructible, but with Dynamo and/or Sol Ring you get quicker ramp in terms of total mana. So I am thinking of going with those two for acceleration. I already have Sol Ring in there. But in playing this deck I have not had mana issues so far. knock on wood lol

Ahh but the beautiful thing about the demon is it's "target player"

To be honest I'd cut Venser's Journal as between Spellbook ,Library of Leng and Sangromancer you got all it does and more

July 24, 2014 2:42 p.m.

I don't have Spellbook in there. :)

Oh my bad but still library and sangromancer do the job

July 24, 2014 4:25 p.m.

If you lower your mana count and increase the number ifMana rocks you play, you will increase the overall speed of the deck. Check out Nekusar's Perfect Storm or more card options and ideas. I'm always looking for advice my self and as always I appreciate those +1s. Thank is andvace.

Nice to see others who love Library of Leng it really needs to be in a Nekusar deck in my opinion. You mentioned Megrim being in a previous deck of yours and I think it would go very well here. With the amount of discard spells in the deck it would just wreck people. Play a Reforge the Soul while Megrim and Nekusar, the Mindrazer are out, and even if they only have 3 cards in hand (unlikely since you are playing Nekusar) you are doing 13 damage in one turn. I would also seriously consider putting Teferi's Puzzle Box in from your sideboard. It does so much work with Nekusar out, and if you run Archmage Ascension you might not care where in your library your hand goes. I was wondering how Leyline of the Void has worked out for you. It might have a place in my Nekusar deck Draw 2, Take 2 Nekusar EDH, since my friend runs Deadbridge Chant and the like in his Jund deck. Like the deck, +1.

Thanks tjcole1! I absolutely love Library of Leng in Nekusar. I only wish it also let me put my discarded cards on top when I discard as part of an activation cost, that would just make Mind Over Matter so much more evil lol! I think Library is one of the cards I always want to have out when playing.

I had Megrim and Liliana's Caress in my previous iteration of this deck. I may add them back in, but first I want to see how this goes as it is. I do like damaging both ways, drawing and discarding. Just want to be sure I can protect myself along the way. Teferi's Puzzle Box is another card I had in here originally. I found it gave my opponents chances to find answers if I had it out with no creatures that did damage for drawing out as well. It definitely is one of the early cards to go back in if I am looking to swap out anything. I did like the fun factor of that one!! :)

Leyline of the Void . It can hurt decks that use a certain amount of recursion from their grave. Normally they may be fine with you making them discard their hand as they figure they can always get their dudes back later. At least with Leyline out, anything I make them wheel away is gone for the rest of that game.

I can definitely see Teferi's Puzzle Box being bad if you don't have Nekusar-esque creatures out, that's a fair point. And if Library of Leng let you do that, the card would be borderline broken lol, it almost already is.

Mikokoro, Center of the Sea is an awesome utility land for Nekusar decks.

I also like Sigil of Sleep, since it can bounce critters every turn.

Ooh thanks I like the sound of Mikokoro, Center of the Sea.

I definitely have Sigil of Sleep on my list to get and put in place of Curiosity. Just seems, as a common, no one has it in their trade binders and I never find it in the common bin at my LGS when I look. I really have to remember to order it next time I order some cards.

I hear you there. I was unable to get one for quite a time myself for my Nekusar deck.

Now that I am not using it any more, I could trade it off, but it's not really worth much.

Meant to link Phyrexian Tyranny sorry.

February 24, 2016 12:28 a.m.

Thanks for the comment.

I had Phyrexian Tyranny in here before. I found I was worrying about casting a wheel because it would either come close to killing me or would kill me, as much of what I do also causes me to draw more cards than my opponents. And I'd rather keep my mana up for a counter to something that might break my shenanigans than use up mana when I cast a wheel on my turn to keep from taking damage.
