Many know the Boros Reckoner & Blasphemous Act combo. But, to put it in a 1v1 Modern deck and make it fast and consistent is not that trivial. Especially since you need two Reckoner like effects in play, before the Act becomes leathal. My solution is to introduce Volcano Hellion. He is reasonably cheap and allows you to finish the game with only 1 Reckoner like effect on board. That is, IF you have more life than your opponent (you shock yourself and the Reckoner).

Therefore, the game plan is to stall and gain a life advantage, so we can finish fast with Volcano Hellion and any of these 3 in play Boros Reckoner, Spiteful Sliver, Ragged Veins. If the game gets dragged out, Blasphemous Act will be more and more dangerous.

In order to survive and even gain life advantage, we have Legion's Landing  ,Serra Ascendant,Lone Rider   & Lightning Helix. The latter work really well together and all lifelink creatures work great with Righteousness and Hold the Line while you are on the defences. If your opponent dares to attack, you can get a huge chunk of life while getting ride of the attacking creature. He also has to consider Ragged Veins, since it has flash.

All these cards also function as alternative win conditions. Legion's Landing   for drawn out games (hard to trigger, but not impossible. You have many creatures). Serra Ascendant and It That Rides as One are very powerful when activated. Righteousness and Hold the Line can also be used with Boros Reckoner,Spiteful Sliver to deal tons of player damage (you attack and buff your opponents creatures. Or again, you wait for him and use Ragged Veins).

PS: I loved the the idea of combining the Boros Reckoner with Hold the Line for quite some time. If your opponent blocks you with 3 creatures and you buff his creatures, the Reckoner can easily deal more than 20 damage to his life. But to make that work, you need cards like Nemesis Mask or Lure. Or a very stupid opponent. That means you need 3 cards and 3 times 3 Mana, which is very arckward. It doesn't seem possible to build a strond deck around such a combo. But I am very happy, that the two can finally be together and maybe pull of a little surprise from time to time. :)
