This is a new combo deck that I have been brewing with a buddy. I have been playing it to climb up the Arena ladder, and so far its very good. It can win the moment it casts
Command the Dreadhorde
even without attacking. This is not a midrange grind fest Sultai deck, its an actual combo deck that can win fast.
The plan for the beginning of the game is to self mill a bunch with ETB dorks and get your graveyard ready for game ending shenanigans. In this deck
Command the Dreadhorde
does everything from make a million
Risen Reef
triggers to ending the game on the spot with
Lotleth Giant
. Also
Blood for Bones
is like a mini Command, and its great as copies 5-6 for the deck.
The
Creeping Chill
are in the deck to gain extra life for juicier Commands but also it helps us close out games without even needing to attack. If we use a couple of those before getting the Giant into play, it usually just ends the game right there even if there has been no attacking all game.
Gorging Vulture
can also fly over and sneak in those last few point of damage sometimes. Once the opponent is down low enough any of the self-mill dorks can just be game ending with
Creeping Chill
.
The one-of creatures are almost always all available because of how many cards we mill and draw each game.
Yarok, the Desecrated
is just such absurd value he made it in. Commanding back him and one
Healer of the Glade
is life neutral, plus they are elementals for reefing. He can even make the
Lotleth Giant
trigger double in case our opponent is playing a life gain deck or if we still have a small graveyard.
Massacre Girl
is just one of the best board wipes currently anyways (dodges
Negate
, kills
Rekindling Phoenix
and
Adanto Vanguard
), and we can recur her over and over if needed. It's nice being able to clear the board only to redeploy it from your graveyard over and over.
This deck floods the board with expendable creatures and gains a ton of life, so the red deck and other aggro decks in general don't just run us over. Also there are not really any decks running graveyard hate in standard right now, and there are not a ton of counterspells being played to stop our plans either thanks to
Teferi, Time Raveler
, which puts this deck in a prime spot in the current meta.
The sideboard is a work in progress, but the main deck feels quite good. It always feels hard to board out many cards because there is so much synergy within the main deck that removing too many pieces effects the combo win ability.
Let me know what you think!! I know it's a fun f'n deck to play!!
