Crimson Horizon (Modern MTG Deck)

The Sweltering Suns' ability to cycle is important for the many matchups where Anger of the Gods is next to useless. Combo- useless; Control- very weak; Tron- you've probably just lost because you just drew another dead card. Besides, what good is 3 damage to all creatures when there are either no creatures on the board, or all creatures have a toughness of either 4 (Thought Knot Seer) or 5 (Reality Smasher, Endbringer, Death's Shadow, Tasigur, Gurmag Angler).

Rekindling Phoenix is just great, offering a creature that rules grindy games, which this deck is looking for.

Hazoret offers a great option against Control - a matchup notorious for Skred. It's indestructible, fast, and ends grindy games with her ability.
