Crouching Faerie, Hidden Ninja

Modern Budget UB (Dimir)

deepthought

Sideboard

A decently cheap and fun FNM Modern deck. Blue/Black Ninjutsu deck with some tricks.

Play your flyers and use them to evade your opponent's creatures and enable Ninjutsu (Return an unblocked attack you control to your hand: Put this card into play from your hand tapped and attacking.)

The cheap Faerie Miscreant acts as an enabler for Ninjutsu, a +1 count for Spellstutter Sprite, and can replace itself when played in multiples. Insane value for a 1 drop.

Spellstutter Sprite is an ideal target for Ninjutsu, as returning it to your hand will allow you to recast it as a counter.

Evasive Creatures + Ninja of the Deep Hours is the bread and butter of this deck. Use the card advantage gained to keep on your land drops and continue to play out more creatures into the mid-game, as this deck is usually somewhat slow to start.

Higure, the Still Wind is the star of the deck with two incredibly pertinent abilities - Tutoring for ninja on combat damage dealt, and making other ninja unblockable without tapping. Higure allows us to run a "toolbox" of sorts of 1 each of several situational ninja.

Ink-Eyes, Servant of Oni is not just an efficient beater that is quite hard to kill, but also serves as a re-animator on-a-stick. If you happen to get some juicy targets in your opponent's graveyard via counter or kill spell, feel free to prioritize pushing Ink-Eyes through to add to your army. There isn't a ton of beef to go around in this deck so any help you can get is great.

Generally, you will always be slower than aggro decks, so look to disrupt/remove as much as possible early, and make a real attempt to get the enablers on the board quickly. They are unlikely to be removed immediately but if they are, consider it a win as it was a spell not used on your ninja.

If you can delay/disrupt enough to start spilling out a few ninja, scoring some surprise card advantage on the way, you'll have a shot at winning.
