Scroll of Fate for the purpose of letting Ixidor, Reality Sculptor make Phage get in a surprise attack? (can obv. cheat out any CMC 4+ permanent as well)

I'm not sure if it can cheat out Phage due to her first line of text. According to gatherer "It is only considered “cast from your hand” if you cast it as a spell from your hand. Putting it onto the battlefield from your hand using a spell or ability will cause you to lose the game." Gonna have to check out with the rule wizards since it's a niche case because she's being manifested. Love the Scroll of Fate and Ixidor synergy though, I never thought about that. Super clever.

Apparently manifesting and flipping Phage doesn't lose the game so that makes a deadly synergy, can't imagine what I would cut for Scroll of Fate though. I really can't cut any morphs since they fuel the deck. Open to suggestions. Crystal Shard maybe?

Wouldn't Ixidron be nice in this deck? It would work (almost) as a mass removal and you could also reactivate some of your morph cards.

It would be great if you could fina a way to put Phage out face-down. You could swing and kill someone when they don't block. You could do this by manifesting things or by using Tezzeret, Cruel Machinist. I think he works well with morph, as well as being a good way to draw cards.

d_iros: your experience with what's underperforming should be your foremost guide, but here's my take:
Crystal Shard: Obviously versatile, but not essential. Does synergize minorly with Scroll of Fate & creature ETB triggers like Kadena tho
Mistfire Weaver: seems pretty mediocre, although it hurts a bit to cut a morph card
Elbrus, the Binding Blade Flip & Lord of the Void: kinda mediocre, and cutting down on either would lower the average CMC. The Scroll helps with expensive stuff tho.
Not making your life easier but you might consider Vivien, Champion of the Wilds & Mystic Forge too

Altezio - I don't really like Ixidron as a board clear/recursion tool because it flips Kadena face down. My deck relies super heavily on Kadena since the main goal is to create the draw engine. If she's flipped I have to find a way to off her to get her back into the command zone and recast and a smart opponent won't let me do that.
ImaginitiveRascal and Coward_Token - I'm hesitant to include planeswalkers because from what I understand that they're hard to keep around and especially ultimate. If my opponent knows what they're doing against the deck they're gonna swing in at Vivien immediately and I don't like the idea of sacrificing my morphs to help keep it around. That being said, when I play more if I can't get my morphs flash consistently enough Vivien is definitely gonna have to find a place in my deck.
Coward_Token - If Mistfire Weaaver ends up being weak I'll likely replace it with Unblinking Bleb or another morph, if I had to guess my deck is probably light on morphs (aka draw fuel) already so I'd likely replace it with a morph. Time to look at morphs again. Lord of the Void fit in with the small steal and demon subthemes but I'm not in love with it. I'm sure I could find a more potent finisher. Not really sure if I should cut it for a different finisher or for something else with utility. As far as Elbrus goes, I just really like the design and want to make it work, plus it synergizes with the unblockable cards to get that hit in. Really needs to protection to make it worth it though. I'm gonna try to make it work just for kicks and not cut it just yet. As far as Mystic Forge, I already have a ton of essential 4 cmc permanents and it just hasn't provided enough value in my test runs to keep around (I had it in the deck for a long time).

Cut Lord of the Void for Scroll of Fate and cut Mistfire Weaver for Riptide Survivor.

Using Phage as a wincon is an interesting approach. Manifesting it makes any face-down seem like a big threat. You might also consider Primordial Mist as another way to manifest her. That’s especially great if you tutor her to the top of your library.
There’s a Kadena discord if you’re interested!

Just don’t exile her with Primordial’s ability because then Phage would make you lose the game. Still, it’s pretty decent for digging a bit further in the deck and is another manifest source.

Abzkaban I originally took Primordial Mist out of the deck due to the interaction with exiling Phage. At the time, though I wasn't considering manifesting Phage as a viable way to win. I still think attacking with a manifested Phage for a surprise (without unblockable) is risky since if it's blocked by anything with 4 power it's a wincon piece down the drain unless you have something to bounce it. Luckily there's Crystal Shard, Echo Tracer, Icefeather Aven, and Gift of Doom but I still think attacking with a manifested Phage should only be done as a last ditch effort to win.
With that said, I'm not sure how much I should be leaning into manifesting for that reason. Primordial Mist still synergizes great with Kadena and the deck (I had it in the deck for a long time) so it warrants another consideration for sure. Always on my mind is what I have to cut for it and what I would cut for it I'm not sure. Perhaps Ominous Seas? Let me know if you have any thoughts

It's starting to get tempting to put in Emrakul, the Aeons Torn to cheat in with a manifest and flip with Ixidor, Reality Sculptor for 3 mana lol

It was just a thought. I didn't know if you wanted to sneak Phage in. I actually cut Primordial from my own list recently, although I still love the card. You don't actually have to exile Phage with it. You can still flip it up as per manifest's mechanic. I don't really see Ominous Seas as that great of a card. Sure, you'll draw a lot with Kadena, but 8/8 krakens are just meh. Might as well play Muraganda Petroglyphs and Beastmaster Ascension and just drop huge morph creatures for free.

Cut Ominous Seas for Beastmaster Ascension, clear upgrade

The tech of using Shared Summons to set up Seedborn Muse on your turn into flashing Teferi, Mage of Zhalfir in next turn, basically makes Shared Summons Prophet of Kruphix in a can. This spicy tech was originated by Abzkaban in You Just Activated My Trap Card!, and is too genius to not incorporate into my deck. I'm cutting Damnation for Shared Summons and replacing Tidal Barracuda with Teferi, Mage of Zhalfir. Cutting a board wipe hurts but I always thought Damnation is boring and also this card provides way too much value. Also, the fact that I'm cutting Damnation should speak to how lean this deck has gotten over it's many iterations.
Shared Summons is also a premium draw engine in a can if you tutor Teferi, Mage of Zhalfir and Beast Whisperer. Late game, being able to tutor two creatures with one card will let you answer pretty much any threat with a morph while also finding a piece to advance your gameplan. It's also a pickle lock in a can but the downside is that revealing the tutored cards lets your opponents know the pickle lock is coming.

After some solo playtesting I decided to cut a swamp for Tidal Barracuda (back again) just to make giving morphs flash as consistent as possible. Getting morphs flash is really the key to this deck popping off. Hopefully the -1 land doesn't impact how the deck runs too much.
January 31, 2021 3:03 p.m.
You have 35 lands and 11 sources of ramp. I think cutting the swamp was fine.

Endless Whispers combos with Phage the Untouchable 's ETB death trigger.
-
Manifest Phage
-
Let Phage die with endless whispers in play
-
She returns to battlefield under opponent's control and triggers.
Also works with Leveler

kpres - Pretty devilish, I think that's worth strong consideration for including in the deck, potentially with Primordial Mist as was suggested earlier. My only worry about it is that it nukes one opponent and if they're not the last one you have to find a separate win condition for the others. Another thing is I'm not sure where I would make room for it. Gonna think about this one for a while

I ran a Kadena deck a while ago and it was real nice, but this list is much nicer. Pickle lock! lol
