How often do u resolve a Cruel Ultimatum ?

September 6, 2014 12:43 a.m.

NoPantsParade says... #2

I've actually resolved it quite a bit: more often than I thought I would. Mana hasn't been a problem actually. The only issue is it being countered.

I like the deck, and I know yours is modern, but I am in need of some help with a Standard Grixis control deck please: Grixis, God of Slaughtered Storms. Any feedback would be appreciated.

cost without a maybeboard?

September 30, 2014 7:07 p.m.

NoPantsParade says... #6

osich: This is the cost without the maybeboard. As far as I know, the site doesn't account for the mayeboard.

And UpperDeckerTaco: I really don't know anything about standard, so I really couldn't offer any helpful advice. I know nothing, and I don't think I ever will.

Batterskull is your best win con I'd go with a couple more of them dropping the god and Olivia.

If you get the khans fetches run 4 of each

3 each Steam Vents Watery Grave Blood Crypt 2 swamp, island, mountain 2/3 Creeping Tar Pit Or something like that. With 8 fetches you'll be able to mana fix no problem.

Cryptic Command if you manage to get your hands on them will help but like you already said $$$$ lol

If you have the Damnation run it if you have more run more you won't regret it especially with Batterskull bounce him back to your hand on their turn nuke the field your turn and drop him again lol

9 total shocklands is horrible. Five at maximum is plenty.

Regarding the win-conditions, I'd actually run a Batterskull and a Keranos, God of Storms , as they are the most resilient. My opinion of Olivia Voldaren has changed.

id say that you dont even need fetches with your land base. i would save the money and get one to two Cryptic Command . otherwise great deck +1

This looks awesome. I am such a huge fan of Slaughter Games . While everything in here looks fun I also especially like the Rakdos Charm for when they try to make 100 Deceiver Exarch s.

October 22, 2014 7:15 p.m.

When one is playing Splinter Twin against any BR deck, you always make just enough creatures to kill them. If your life total is less than theirs, obviously you can't do so and not lose to Rakdos Charm

Sorry for the late response, everyone; I've been pretty busy with school.

GlistenerAgent What would you recommend in place of Olivia? I've been trying to think of another finisher. I'm thinking of replacing her with a Damnation or a second Batterskull . For right now, Olivia is staying in there until I can finish my fetchland playset, unless I already own the card.

rolypolyguy: This deck does need the fetches because in a lot of games, I find myself shocking myself to leave up countermagic only to not have my opponent cast anything, thereby wasting 2 life instead of 1 to search up the shockland tapped EOT.

vomdur: Yeah, after I finish my fetch playset, I plan to get the Cryptic Command s. I don't like the idea of running 9 shocklands like GlistenerAgent said. I think five or so would be sufficient enough.

kengiczar: Yeah, it seems like fun, but unfortunately I haven't had the opportunity to do that!

Thanks for the comments.

Cut Olivia Voldaren for Dig Through Time , because that card is broken as all hell. I'd actually try to play a second copy as well, but I'm not sure what you'd feel comfortable cutting.

I do happen to have a copy of Dig Through Time sitting around that I was considering using but not in place of Olivia. I'll give it a try. Thanks.

yeah you two are right. 5 shocks and some of the duals like Drowned Catacomb Sulfur Falls and Dragonskull Summit would probably be better. I'm a big advocate of Damnation though! never have i regretted having that bad boy in hand!

just wondering what your thoughts are on Serum Visions vs Think Twice

October 22, 2014 10:43 p.m.

NoPantsParade says... #18

I like Think Twice because it's instant speed. But I've never played with Serum Visions before, so I can't say much about it.

I would add Vendilion Clique , but it's just too expensive at this point. Thanks for the suggestion, though.

how about Extirpate over Slaughter Games. Since it is practically uncountable, down to only a single source, and much cheaper. The only disadvantage is that it has to be in their graveyard, but with all your counter magic and kill that it would not be hard to get to that point.

November 15, 2014 9:24 a.m.

Slaughter Games lets you hit Scapeshift that is probably not in their graveyard (otherwise, you may or may not be dead).

naterino says... #23

Oh, OK. My meta does not run that, but i can see where it would be really helpful to have that ability.

You have written one heck of a deck description there, sir! Nice deck too. +1

November 15, 2014 3:52 p.m.

NoPantsParade says... #25

naterino: Pretty much what GlistenerAgent said. Slaughter Games has helped a lot against combo decks because it allows me to name the key piece without having to get the spell into the graveyard.

KrosanTusker: Thanks! I tried to keep it simple.
