This deck is genius. +1. My only suggestion is for the sideboard. Kataki, War's Wage for affinity decks. Still low CMC so you can keep him sitting for long enough to do his job.

LtMiller117 thanks! Adding that to the sideboard now.

@LtMiller117, @RESR; Kataki, War's Wage is a very good card against affinity, but while he forces decisions to be made, he has weaknesses compared to Stony Silence , mostly that he doesn't nuke Cranial Plating , Steel Overseer and Springleaf Drum if they have the mana to pay for them, and he can be hit by Galvanic Blast even without Metalcraft. Maybe a replacement of 3x Stony Silence or some kind of split might be favourable.

I'm liking the deck though. +1 from me.

LittleLeaf thanks! My sideboard is a little dry, so I'm just keeping both for now. But don't underestimate Kataki, he forces my opponents to either be mana screwed or sac their stuff. Whichever way they choose, I still have greater control of the board. (However, you are right about his weaknesses - the 1 toughness especially.)

@LittleLeaf these are good points. That's a good card you suggested. My other thought was Hurkyl's Recall but that only slows down affinity. I think I've decided not to go esper for modern so I need more blue cards like that. Any thoughts?

@RESR No problem. I have an Esper Control deck on TappedOut with a fairly fleshed out sibeboard if you want to see some of the decks I targeted with the sideboard and how. That deck has some cards that won't help much here, of course, as my win-con was mill (4x Nihil Spellbomb won't help here, for example) but there are some goodies in there that might offer a starting point here. It's a Trap! (Esper Mill Control)

@LtMiller117 Hurkyl's Recall can be good, especially if they go over 7 cards in hand afterwards, but that is rare and you very astutely noted that it doesn't stop them for long. What colours are you running? Red and Green have a LOT of action against Affinity (Shatterstorm , Creeping Corrosion , Fracturing Gust , Vandalblast , Shattering Spree ; the list really does go on), while Black can force discards... I guess. There are also all the usual suspects in terms of point removal and such (barring Go for the Throat ); hell, even Rakdos Charm comes close to being Vindicate for BR.

However, if you're playing blue exclusively, it's difficult to hose Affinity, or even have game against them if they get one of their MANY nut draws. Steel Sabotage is cute, but does even less than Hurkyl's Recall . Could I have your list and make better recommendations?

@LittleLeaf I'm running tribal control. Its called Vampiric Control. Could use a few more suggestions to help with tier 1 decks. Would definitely appreciate it.

@RESR +1 to the deck. Hope it runs well.

Nice curve! I think you actually have too many lands! I'd take out 1x Godless Shrine & 1x Hallowed Fountain to add 2x Smallpox . Nice deck!

m4ver1k thanks for the suggestion! However, I'm only gonna add one for now - 25 lands sounds perfect to me, and the 2B mana cost is a bit demanding.

Great deck design +1. I'd even consider adding more 1cmc. just a tad. like 3 thoughtseize/ 3 inquisition split, or 2/2. Looking at what you have now, being able to consistently turn one thoughtseize of inquisition would curve sooooo nicely into your turn 2
