Treasure Trove: a fun, high-powered EDH add-on created by TikTok user Maldhound!

-Players start a normal game of Commander with an additional deck called the Treasure Trove, a 100-card singleton deck that is shared between all players. This deck cannot be manipulated by any mechanics (e.g scrying, milling, exiling, shuffling, etc.) except for those specific to the Treasure Trove (see below). This deck allows players to receive various bonuses (typically beneficial artifacts), at the cost of possibly receiving horrible curses (typically detrimental enchantments).

-On a player's turn, that player may pay +1 generic mana to roll a d6. is equal to the number of times that player has rolled previously during the game (e.g. that player's first roll costs , the second costs , and so on). Unlike Planechase, this cost is cumulative throughout the whole game; it does not reset at the beginning of that player's turn.

-Upon rolling a d6 this way, the result determines how many cards the player reveals from the top of the Treasure Trove:

  • 1: That player shuffles the Treasure Trove, then reveals the top card and puts it on the battlefield under their control.

  • 2-5: That player reveals cards in order from the top of the Treasure Trove equal to the result (e.g. a 3 means that the player reveals the top 3 cards of the Treasure Trove). Then, that player puts the last revealed card onto the battlefield under their control, and the rest on the bottom of the Treasure Trove in a random order.

  • 6: You've struck it rich! A player who rolls a 6 this way reveals the top three cards of the Treasure Trove and puts all cards revealed this way onto the battlefield under their control.

-Permanents revealed from the Treasure Trove are not considered to be cast; they are instead put directly onto the battlefield. This is not optional. Any effects that care about a relevant type of permanent entering this way still function as normal. Players who control cards from the Treasure Trove are also considered to be the owner of those cards until they leave the battlefield.

-Any Curses revealed with the ability "Enchant Player" and put onto the battlefield by a player are also enchanting that same player (e.g. revealing a Curse of Opulence results in you both controlling and being enchanted by the card). This effect bypasses hexproof, shroud, and effects that change the target of spells/abilities. Protection abilities (e.g. Protection from Enchantments, Protection from [color], etc.) relevant to Curses still work as normal.

-All cards from the Treasure Trove have the following added ability: "If this permanent would leave the battlefield, put it on the bottom of the Treasure Trove instead of anywhere else." If multiple cards from the Treasure Trove would leave the battlefield simultaneously (even from multiple players' battlefields), they are then put on the bottom of the Treasure Trove in a random order.

[06/23/23]: No changes to the rules as of yet. Hope you enjoy playtesting this add-on to EDH for the first time.
