Cyclical Perspectives

Standard GWUB

Sideboard

I guess my mechanic of choice for this rotation is Cycling. I tried building a New Perspectives variant of the deck, previously. That build would try to win with Approach. That never quite gelled with the runaway cycling that NP provides.

I'm taking this build from SaffronOlive. The key changes:

  • use Faith of the Devoted as the wincon. Once NP comes in, it's a very fast drain of the opponent. That is, if the opposing deck has very little life-gain.

  • add more basic lands, to maximize Shefet Monitor's land tutor on cycling.

I do like the inclusion of Mastermind's Acquisition. That provides SB access on G1, which is relevant. If I find the main plan isn't working, wish for Approach.

I will say, this deck is a bit of a glass cannon: very powerful main wincon, but it can be severely crippled (with Lost Legacy)

It was a maiden voyage. Of course, I didn't pilot it very well.

What worked well: Haze of pollen was an all-star. It's probably the only cycling card I didn't bother cycling, except when NP was online. A playset in this deck is a no-brainer.

Faith of the devoted + NP = a very quick kill!
Kefnet God fits in this style of deck. Gift of Paradise, great mana fixer/ramper/damage buffer!

What didn't work well: the mana base. Not centered enough on green. Not enough basic lands to fetch with Shefet Monitor, and too many cycle lands to draw into (meaning I glorious end myself)

Also adding Djeru's Renunciation...a mini-fog effect
