Not the best 1st pack ever. I'd say that Far / Away is probably the best first pick in the pack in a vacuum, but we have to keep in mind what signals we are sending.
Ready / Willing isn't a bad choice just because of this. Both Green and White are lacking any really good cards in this pack and we might have a decent chance to hoard whatever white and green we come across to guarantee we get our colors pack 2 while we watch what signals we get this pack so we have an idea of what we will get pack 3 and can hoard that color in pack 2.
Of course if any of the people to our right opened with a strong G, W, or GW bomb like everyone's favorite $50 2 drop it could be disastrous in our second pack, but that's sort of a risk that applies regardless of your drafting strategy.
Also keep in mind that guild specific strategies may not be as viable with only DMG packs. I certainly can't see an extort deck realistically working with Tithe Drinker being the only realistic extort mob you are going to see (from what I can tell in DMG there are only 2 cards with each guild keyword, a common and a rare).
The way I see it we can either go 2 ways.
We can either pick the easiest to cast best cards trying to draft easy to cast cards until we get a bomb that more determines our direction, though we do run the risk of our bomb not matching the colors of a good number of our previous cards, and when building the deck we may not have a lot of choices in what we actually run.
We can also try to block the people to our right from 1-2 certain colors in hopes that they will pass us better cards of that color. Of course if any of the people to our right opened with a strong G, W, or GW bomb like everyone's favorite $50 2 drop it could be disastrous in our second pack, but that's sort of a risk that applies regardless of your drafting strategy. Also, if we get packs that have an abnormal number of awesome Green or White cards it could also be hard to starve the person to or right.
For option 1, Far / Away is probably the best choice.
For option 2, Ready / Willing is probably the best choice where we then hoard White and Green (which imo has the best 2-3 drops).
As much as I love grabbing what is probably the best removal in the format I think color controlling Green or White will be a better option at this point.
For now I have to vote for it unless I can be convinced otherwise.
+1 Ready / Willing

@KrazyCaley - So, glad I actually looked at individual card pages to better understand the problem before attempting to remedy that tagging issue. Just wanted to let you know that I feel like an idiot for that "solution" I alluded to earlier. :p

@Supersun - Double posts aside (they're fine, really), I do want to thank you for that exposition. Puts my mind at ease about Ready / Willing being in the lead so easily. Also, signals are rarely something I give much thought about, so it's good to hear about.

Honestly, I believe that in a multi-color block like this that the first pick is the most important one. It's probably the most important pick to influence what you get pack 2
I'll gladly pass up some seemingly superior cards for something not as impressive if picking the superior card is a deathtrap (aka opening a pack with 4 strong Orzhov cards in your pack. Good luck getting any extort in pack 2 like that.)
Also if this was DMG > GTC > RTR I'd suggest it just because imo the best color combos have either Green or White and Blue tends to be bad without Green or White bring involved, but that may be different with DMG > DMG > DMG.

I'm going to have to agree. Looking through the rest of the cards on the list, Ready/Willing is really the only card I can see always being happy to draw. It's cheap, powerful, and can change a game when used right.
+1 Ready/Willing

There's still half a day left and I'm more than ready and willing to change my vote if someone can convince me that some other card is more useful by far and a way a better pick.
I hope this isn't just going to be people popping in once every 24 hours and just casting their vote without reading or contributing anything to the comments because in something like this the discussion is far more important then the actual voting.
June 23, 2013 5:10 p.m.
There just isn't much to discuss at this junction. We currently have 0 cards and everybody recognizes that ready/willing is the best pick from this pack as it currently stands.

reading through these posts gave me a good laugh. first zephyrkey double posts and apologized. then Supersun double posts and says the exact same thing. then i get to supersun's next post with the puns... ahh... ok
so, i personally think that junk or brozhov is the best color combo and can be extremely powerful if we have the right cards, but i guess it does just come down to whats open and whats not.

Yeah, we're not even at a point yet where we can try reading what others may be doing.

Honestly, thinking over the DMG > DMG > DMG cards Naya might be a very strong choice.
People tend to avoid Naya in DMG > GTC > RTR because 2 of your 3 guilds are hotly contested guilds in GTC while your RTR pack will probably be pretty lackluster unless you set up really well with populate and get lucky.
With just DMG > DMG > DMG though, honestly Naya just has some pretty amazing stand alone cards which is probably what the name of the game will be in this draft.
...just don't plan on a Gatekeeper strategy with Naya unless you score a ton of the red ones.
June 23, 2013 5:45 p.m.
hmm... thats also a possibility. so we should aim for naya, brozhov, or junk. so white is definite? those are pretty similar colors

I like it. the three different choices keep us broad in strategy, but relatively simple in card and color choice.

Don't forget Bant, you can get some pretty awesome fliers in DGM

Looks like we've still got Ready / Willing in the lead. No arguments here over a solid white split card when it'd be in all the shard colors we have hope for.
As for the recent slow loading issues (if you've been feeling it), it's an issue currently being looked into by the tech guys.

I'm still pretty green on the sending signals thing. The way I see it the first couple picks should just be the best cards available no? That leaves us with the Ready / Willing or Far / Away. I personally feel like Ready / Willing gives us a very game changing combat trick, that can break a stalled board. Far / Away has a more visible immediate impact, but one I feel may sometimes not be enough. I guess that means I'm ready and willing to submit my pick (Yes laugh at my corny jokes!!).

Already submitted Ready / Willing as our pick. Can still change it, of course, but majority opinion makes me doubt that'll be necessary.

The only addendum being if everyone gets their picks in early (and Kaley has time to process it); We may be getting an earlier update tonight.
