There's still time for discussion if necessary.

I don't think the card picked is necessarily changing, but there might be some other things that could be discussed such as our potential strategy. A gatekeeper strategy could be strong and it doesn't look like people are really picking many gates and gatekeepers yet. I'm kind of hoping those 2 orzhov guildgates table back to us, but if the person to our left's first pick was a tithe drinker that's not likely lol.

Ok well I gues we should lock in to our current colors since the fours cards we picked fit the colors and are pretty decent especially with our new pick. We have good attack power as well as defensive strength and tricks up our sleeve. It looks like we're headed in a good direction

Okay, I have word from Caley that our commentary and tagging will no longer be showing up in 'recent comment' sections. Just in case our mileage varies...

Looks like the site issues have been solved for the time being.
Since it's looking fairly unanimous for Gatekeeper, I'll go ahead and send it in early. By no means let that shut you all up. :p

Also, looks like life's tossing a slight curveball my way - looks like I'll be in a position where I won't have internet access tonight. Just tonight, and naturally during the usual time I'd normally send in the picks and (eventually) receive the next pack. I don't foresee nor expect this to happen again, but it would probably be best to set up an alternate / designated backup to keep things running smoothly.
Any volunteers?

As for the pack itself, I'm leaning towards the unexciting Armored Wolf-Rider . I'd rather we start seeing lower cmc bodies in our colors, but it seems more worthwhile than the Centaur token.
Looks like the land's missing, too.

@GureiSeion - I'll keep an eye on this page today. Designate someone to make the final call about what the pick has been determined to be and have them post it here, and I'll accept that as the pick.

June 28, 2013 11:18 a.m.

I'm also leaning toward the wolf rider, though I wouldn't be disappointed with an Orzhov Cluestone either.

I'd volunteer but I'm in a similar situation as yourself. Going to GP MIami woop woop.

+1 Alive / Well.
That card can work magic.

5 mana to get a 3/3 AND get 2 life for every creature you control is pretty amazing. Not to mention since it looks like we are running both white and black we can also pick up some extorting Tithe Drinkers if they come our way and this is probably the best card to extorting in the format.

This also would be our second card that gives a token which while normally clan strategies don't work in 3xDMG, populate actually might be reasonable since there is a common 1cmc populate card that no one else will want at all. Combine that with any extorting Tithe Drinkers that stumble across our way and we have a potentially mean combo.

Also it's easier to cast which makes it better in case we have to switch colors in case we open a bomb.

Now I will admit that I tend to favor synergistic strategies over a deck that is full of strong cards so my view may be skewed more in favor of alive / well then it should be and I certainly wouldn't complain if we end up with the wolf rider though.

the reason why i didn't choose alive/ well is that its a sorcery. there's no way to use it as a combat trick and it just seems very mundane. speaking about synergy though, the wolfrider is multicolored which helps when we (hopefully) get either of the abominations for our colors.

+1 Alive / Well

I'm leaning towards both of these right now, but it seems to me that alive on its own is a nice cheap creature. something that we don't have any of right now. while the wolf rider is good he's vanilla, and expensive. if i have to have a vanilla creature i don't want it to cost me.

June 28, 2013 5:14 p.m.

Supersun says... #19

But conversely, we can nuke the wolf with renounce the guilds though.
I generally try to avoid using Maze creatures in block. Not sure how they work in 3x DGM.

June 28, 2013 5:17 p.m.

tempest says... #20

well, its 4 mana for a 3/3 vs a 5 mana 4/6. we will get our share of cheap creatures later. we did pass up krasis even though it was a cheap creature.

June 28, 2013 5:18 p.m.

tempest says... #21

we're bound to get more multicolored creatures anyways. like you said, its hard to build a monocolored deck. by then, we might have something else to nuke or we can just sac our vanilla creature. no one is going to get a ton of good cards and in a draft, a simple big vanilla creature could cause headaches

June 28, 2013 5:22 p.m.

As much as I want to make an on color pick, the Rider and Alive seem like bad picks next to punish the enemy. It's not too late to continue picking the "best" cards in the pack, and Punish does a whole lot of work. Even if we don't end up using it it will be less removal/damage someone else has. It should be noted we've passed quite a few good UR and U cards

June 28, 2013 5:38 p.m.

Supersun says... #23

Also, keep in mind that we will most likely see more of those wolves. They are a common, and no one is going to want them, and in regards to a 5cmc creatures I'd prefer Korozda Gorgon myself.

If you want that Alive / Well. This may be our only shot at it.

June 28, 2013 5:43 p.m.

Supersun says... #24

I just think a 3 damage removal for 5 mana is a pit pricey especially in DMG where the fatties are like morbidly obese.

June 28, 2013 5:47 p.m.

Supersun says... #25

, I mean it doesn't even kill a Gatekeeper
