Unless you're running Goblin Charbelcher, Mana Severance is not worth running. Not for what you're wanting it for at least. As for Abundance, It seems a little lackluster in my eyes. Sure it's nice in that it helps you fix your draw, but at 4 mana providing no ramp seesm slow. At least if you were running a Thran Dynamo or Gilded Lotus instread it would actually give you extra mana into Damia, but here you're talking about fixing your draw so in 3 more turns you can cast her. And ultimately, if you're drawing 5 cards in a turn and 2 of them are land then who cares. Just play them and then draw a bunch more. Otherwise you'll run into the problem of on the first lot you'll name nonland only, draw a full nonland hand up to 7 but then if you only find you play 1 or 2 things you don't get a huge amount of card advantage the next turn. Whereas when you get a mix of land and nonland, you can always play the land to empty your hand and keep increasing the amount of available mana you have.

If you're finding you're getting mana screwed, then just up the number of lands in your deck. That would be my advice. or at least put more ramp in. That's my opinion at least.

you make a good point it is slow for a 4 drop but compare it to Jace, the Mind Sculptor, the card it is replacing. jace is good but generates alot of hate in a pod and using his brainstorm ability is generally the only get it 2-3 times before he dies. Abundance pairs well with any draw effects with my deck. i dont generally land fixing but sometimes i hit a land brick and getting through that can change the game. As i type this i am putting alot of value in this can because of meta reasons. A lot of wheel cards are beinging used so being able to have some control over what i end up getting is really appealing. Another meta call is not to race to damia cause she generally doesnt last so most of my choice for this deck are not made with her in mind. my meta doesnt let me use her very often and generally only get 3-4 cards before she is killed. i was using her as an example. another is Sensei's Divining Top Rhystic Study and Abundance all fall on a nice mana curve and can let you dig about nine cards through your deck if the table is really greedy. if unlucky and not getting any rocks in the beginning this doesnt work out very well. even mid game this can get through a few cards.

i am starting to agree with you on mana severance. it only works with one card and i can destroy myself if im not careful.

So I made a big change to the deck over the past couple of weeks and have had some good success with most of them, others just haven't come up yet. First and most important i think is the switch to just using Living Wish. that influenced Prophet of Kruphix getting put in the side board and rift sweeper getting moved over to main board. Having it in main board lets me abuse it more if i need too. this a strictly meta call we have players that and very effective at removing cards from the game. I would use something else if exile wasn't such a problem. Jace, the Mind Sculptor was an interesting one, all of as sudden he didn't seem very good anymore in a multiplayer environment. only ever got to brainstorm with maybe twice in most games. I gave Abundance a try in his place and it didnt do what i wanted to so now I'm giving Praetor's Grasp a try. I would also like suggestions for this spot. it doesnt need to have the same effect, but prefer it to be 4 or below CMC. Blue Sun's Zenith for Villainous Wealth finally lol. Birds of Paradise for Expedition Map.

Personally I prefer Sadistic Sacrament over Praetor's Grasp as it hits more cards. But either are good. Either also gives you an alternate win con with deadeye + ewit + infinite mana.

I actually didnt think of either of those as an alt win con thanks for the awesome evil idea.

So I am wanting to put more land in the deck. What are some suggestions on cuts? Second what lands to add?

I used to run Sultai Charm in my Damia deck but found that 9/10 times I would just hold it as removal. As such, Beast Within is the better card as it hits all permanent types.

Fair enough, still need to try it. What would be your prefered ramp spell that i dont use. What is your prefered off color fetch land?

October 20, 2015 2:44 a.m.

enpc says... #9

Ramp spell would be Nature's Lore or Kiora's Follower. As for the fetch, either something that gets blue or green I guess. Why not just get all 9?

Cost at the moment with alot of the off colors currently in standard they are kinda high and no one wants to trade them away, so i might have to wait until they rotate out.

Windswept Heath should be going cheap due to the clash pack release.

Im thinking about moving Cabal Coffers to my sideboard and add a fetch. still have an chance of using it but it doesnt put me off if i need the land that makes color. Thoughts?

In a tri coloured deck you have a huge reliance on Urborg to make coffers work. I would cut it for a fetch and then it also means you can replace Sylvan Scrying with actual ramp.

very true. Tempt with Discovery can be interesting but inconsistent some times would cultivate be a good idea? or do you have a better idea?

I personally run Cultivate because I like the fact that it gets 2 lands so that if you miss a land drop or don't have one for next turn it covers you. While it is only ramping by one, I have found it to be solid.

Personally in my ramp package I run Sakura-Tribe Elder, Cultivate, Nature's Lore, Skyshroud Claim, Search for Tomorrow anf Farseek to fetch lands.

I also run Birds of Paradise, Deathrite Shaman and Kiora's Follower as mana dorks. Kiora's Follower is particularly good with mana rocks that tap for more than one.

Speaking of mana rocks, I run Chromatic Lantern, Mana Vault, Sol Ring, Thran Dynamo, Gilded Lotus, Simic Signet and Everflowing Chalice.

For additional land drops per turn I run Exploration and Oracle of Mul Daya. There is also Lotus Cobra as well as Crucible of Worlds to get more value from fetches / Strip Mine etc and I run Turnabout in the sideboard as a third way of getting infinite mana. There's also Dark Ritual for burst mana.

The ramp package gives me effectively 7 x one CMC ramp cards (if you count Search for Tomorrow), 7 x two CMC ramp cards (counting Everflowing Chalice for 1), 3 x three CMC ramp cards (not counting Search but including Crucible), 3 x four CMC ramp cards (not including Turnabout as it's more of a combo piece) and 1 x five CMC ramp cards.

The idea is that the ramp is for the most part playable in the first few turns so you can launch ahead as quickly as possible. But I think Gilded Lotus is just too much of a powerhouse not to play at this stage at least. Especially when combined with Kiora's Follower.

Too many actual rocks is a little dangerous in my meta. The rock you suggested are really good i dont like to use to many. I would like a Mana Crypt but that is the last rock i will add. I am going to probably re add Birds of Paradise at some point. Probably will go in for Phyrexian Metamorph. It has been lack luster in my meta because of the rock and general artifact hate. and having green sun fetch up a really good mana source like birds and is nice and cheap to play.

A land or a counterspell I guess seems good

That brings up another question i am working to get the off color fetches and underground sea what land should i swap first?

enpc says... #20

Underground Sea seems good. And it'll be the most expensive so after that one prices of stuff should get cheaper.

So i made changes recently I would appreciate some feedback on the changes and some general feed back on the deck itself.

So, in regards to building the deck for Vancouver Mulligans - One thing which i have found helped was looking at my counterspell suite. If the gamres are going to go a bit longer, you want your counterspells to pack more of a punch. Ertai's Meddling and Delay are both not so good. Also, with the new tuck rule changes, Hinder is also not so good. I would recommend running Void Shatter, Faerie Trickery and maybe Mindbreak Trap instead. They are all much more permanent answers to spells and while slight more expensive, will pack more punch.

I also don't like Time Stretch or Time Spiral. Even pre mulligan chanes, these cards both feel underwhelming to me. Honestly I would replace them with Mystic Confluence and a ramp piece, preferably an artifact. I think you have enough land fetch.

I guess those are the things that stand out the most to me. I'm on the fence about Pernicious Deed and Scroll Rack but they seem fine I guess. I might question how much you're using "play extra lands" ramp though. you have 5 of these effects and while you have a decent ramp package, this is by far the heaviest leaning. It's also the most conditional and really only works when you have a big draw source in play like Damia, who you have to ramp into. Yay for catch 22. Maybe worth an assessment. Not neccessarily a change, but an assessment.

I am really thankful for the suggestion it affirmed some of the ideas I was already thinking about. I have been considering removing Time Stretch. it has been less then stellar, having said that i have claimed narrow victories off the back of this card. This is also very true of Time Spiral, it has recycled my hand into a win con so many time that I cant count them. Sadly those times are happening less and less, so maybe it is time for a change. I know I need a Grim Monolith but i was thinking Mana Crypt but i have seen it do some much damage i cant justify running it. I was also thinking Gilded Lotus.

When it comes to the "play extra lands" its a strategy that has had its ups and downs. for a while running rocks was very dangerous because had been abusing them so counter measures were taken to remove them. More lands was a safer route to take to get you going. I have other ways of getting lands besides draw. getting extra land drops makes Kodama's Reach and Cultivate much stronger. Crucible with Fetches is another fun one to land turn three. Still it is something to look at and assess.

What are your Thoughts on Toxic Deluge Trickbind and Copy Artifact
