Daretti Player One

Commander / EDH

ectro24

This deck is my pride and joy, the first commander deck I ever owned and still one of my favorites to this day. The deck follows the standard Daretti, Scrap Savant plan, get him out as soon as possible to loot away your costly artifacts in hand, play some ramp, and then cast your big artifacts, saccing your cheap ones to bring back the costly ones you discarded earlier.

The deck likes combos and fast win-cons but isn't afraid of slowing the game down until it gets all of its combo pieces online or defenses up with Tangle Wire and Winter Orb. Most of the time these aren't an issue to you because you can always sacrifice the orb or wire before your untap step to the right outlet like Krark-Clan Ironworks or Goblin Welder, and you'll usually have enough ramp in your artifacts and artifact creatures to make sure that you can still play spells while your opponents are struggling to find removal.

The deck runs a suite of tutor effects, such as the fantastic new Inventors' Fair, as well as Ring of Three Wishes which is the best, Kuldotha Forgemaster which is insane with the right amount of artifact tokens, Tamiyo's Journal which also pops out artifact tokens to be sac'd for effects or to tutor, Eye of Ugin which lets you grab all your dudes with that extra mana you've got cookin',and Gamble which has the added bonus of when hellbent essentially being a sorcery-speed, red Entomb.

The deck only runs a short list of removal, with Blasphemous Act, Comet Storm which is usually used to remove players, Decree of Annihilation which combos with Soul of New Phyrexia or Darksteel Forge + Mycosynth Lattice , Chaos Warp which is self-explanatory in mono-red, and Starstorm . But artifacts that kill things or exile on ETB like Duplicant and Spine of Ish Sah are more value to the artifact machine. Tormod's Crypt is really an all-star in the mirror or against graveyard-based recursion decks in general, and more times than not activates metal craft or can be dropped for 0 and sacced to bring back an Akroma's Memorial or something ridiculous.

The deck has a few hilarious finishers, many of which involve cheating out a Blightsteel Colossus from your deck and giving him haste, as well as infinite mana combos into Staff of Domination, Comet Storm, or casting virtually your library. A well-timed Scrap Mastery will end the game, Rings of Brighthearth goes infinite with too many cards, and Daretti, Scrap Savant's ultimate basically makes the table scoop, or you can scoop for them with a Mindslaver on the board (not really though). And finally with Prototype Portal + Ugin's Nexus , a sac outlet, and a little bit of luck, you get to take infinite turns in mono-red!

If you like taking 3-5 minute turns, comboing off on turn 3-4, and cheating out big, obnoxious artifacts and artifact dudes, then this is the deck for you.
