Yeah but I didn't have one out. With it you don't need the Contagion Engine.

Just want to pop in and say that you can get a turn 2 Blightsteel Colossus.Turn 1: Mountain, Play Sol Ring then Copper GnomesTurn 2: Mountain, Sacrifice Copper Gnomes then boom, Play Blightsteel Colossus.

Of course this requires all of those cards in hand which is rare, but since this deck is active in the comments again, I figured Id leave this fun little combo for everyone whos playing this deck or a similar one. Enjoy.

Unsure if this deck is still active, but if so I Recommend swapping Inkmoth Nexus with Blinkmoth Nexus because Blinkmoth Nexus can become infinitely big with a Voltaic Key infinite mana combo. If you have Kurkesh, Onakke Ancient or Rings of Brighthearth then you can untap Blinkmoth Nexus and Voltaic Key while tapping Blinkmoth Nexus to give itself plus 1/1+ infinitely.

Ender666666 By anychance can you explain how Dross Scorpion can generate infinite mana, I can't seem to understand it, and I can't find a solid explanation online.

Ender666666 says... #8

Sure, you just need an artifact that taps for or more mana (like Basalt Monolith), Dross Scorpion, and Pentavus.

You tap your mana rock for , use to create a Pentavite, use another to sacrifice that Pentavite to add a +1/+1 counter to Pentavus. The sacrifice of the Pentavite triggers the Dross Scorpion's ability, which you use to untap the mana rock. This nets you a minimum of .

Rinse and Repeat.

Ender666666: Oh thanks that makes a lot of sense now. I was wasn't able to figure this out because I have honestly never used the ability on Pentavus to sacrifice the Pentavites, so I kind of forgot about it.

No problem at all.

Not to threadjack FeralKitten, but since he hasn't been around for a long time, I'd like to invite people to check out The Great Red Menace, which was based on his work, and incorporates some of my ideas to make it my own. Without his work, it wouldn't exist... All respect to him and this deck here... But if anyone wants to discuss a list that is being played, with a member who is active on the site, please feel free to check it out.

FeralKitten, I hope you don't mind this post. Please let me know if there's an issue.

Hi there, I liked this deck so much I actually made an account...I have some noob questions if you dont mind. Got into the game because a friend and my brother.

First set of questions really go with some cards that are just well...alot of money. I did splurge on Blightsteel, CoW and strip mine as well as many others. However what I didn't get is Sensei's top, Staff of Dom, Arcbound, Grim Mol, Duplicate, Oblivion Stone, Gamble, a few expensive lands, All is Dust and Wheel of fortune. Aside from that though and maybe some other things, the deck is very similar (especially your older versions). If anything my deck has slightly more blowing up lands because I wanted a land destruction deck when I first heard of this game >.>

My big question is am I missing out on the general deck function by not having some of these cards? If so, any ideas to replace them? I'm aware of the budget deck as well but I feel like I'm between the two decks. I have the money its just...I'm not that hardcore of a player to justify it XD

Another big thing is Krark. Is this worth it? Its a cheap card I just cant see how its used enough to justify it other then sacking and maybe a bit of mana. If anything my biggest issue in this game is I'm usually sitting on more mana then I'd care for.

Other questions would be if my commander is just consistently targeted by blue counters or monster swarms to the point of him just not coming out for long...what should I do as a secondary option? My one friend has perfected the science of making sure my commander is at 1 loyalty so he cant do anything aside discard.

Finally, is there anymore combos to mention? I'm again new and for example I just found out Feldon can do some crazy stuff with tokens. One thing I'm having difficulty understanding is infinate mana combos and Kurkesh combos, knowing what abilities i can copy and what I cant (usually ends in arguments...like copying pre golems when they're put on the field).

Also, although you probably know of these cards, I figured I'd least give a little gift of info in case you didnt...or least some to think about. Granted some of these might seem dumb but I thought these were cool

Jester's CapJester's MaskThopter AssemblyShattering SpreeLifelineArk of Blight (land destruction artifact)Orcish Settlers (more land destruction XD not a serious suggestion)Imperial Recruiter (for goblin welder and the others)Mishra's WorkshopThe Chain VeilFork,Reverberate or Dual Caster's Mage (doubt you have room)Scuttling Doom EngineRed Elemental Blast

Thank you for your time! I've looked up alot of Daretti Decks and by far this is the best I've seen!

Okay, as for the expensive cards, 100% yes they are very much needed if what you are looking for is to have the same power level as this deck. Sensei's Divining Top allows you to draw your library with copy effects and infinite mana, plus it helps with filtering your library. The card is just an all star. Gamble is a one mana tutor with almost no draw back, I have won on turn four on two occasions for having this in my opening hand. Staff of Domination can make infinite mana with Metalworker and then draw your library. Duplicant: recurring removal, Wheel of Fortune: only real card draw + dumps your hand, Grim Monolith: accelerates the game a turn so you win faster, as for All Is Dust and Oblivion Stone: kick ass board wipes. Really I think you should take the time to read the amazing description this guy made to see the interactions of certain cards such as Krark-Clan Ironworks. That card is combo enabling heaven plus it ramps like no other.

Finally, you need to know that triggered and activated abilities are very different. Triggered abilities say "when," "whenever," or "as"; whereas, activated abilities require a cost and typically have a ":" separating the cost from the effect. Kurkesh only copies activated abilities (and only once per activation as it triggers when you activate) and Precursor Golem's etb effect is a triggered ability, so no you cannot copy it.

Through building and playing this deck I have found that you don't always need your general in play to win, which is what I love so much about it. I typically just use darreti for his plus, only neging last minute to get back the last piece to a combo or to get something that'll save me (like Platinum Angel).

I've also found that kill switch + Mycosynth Lattice is a great combo makes all opponents permanents artifacts and keeps them tapped as long as you have 2 mana to re-use kill switch. the only way around it is to have something to get rid of one of the 2... with one mana (if they're fortunate enough to play a land), which as far as I'm aware is just about impossible. this is fun because you can get kill switch out there and no one will think twice about it, and it's hardly ever countered or destroyed, then you bring Mycosynth Lattice out from the graveyard so it cant be countered and that's game haha

To go back to Keramori's original question, I have played this deck on a budget and have found that it simply does not stand up to fast aggro decks, which is most EDH decks nowadays. You really need the tutor and mana accelarating cards listed above to make this deck win fast.

I think I'm going to put Daretti on a back burner for a bit and maybe bring him out once in a while. I want to concentrate on cheaper yet effective builds like Surrak Dragonclaw and eventually build the funds to have a true Pimp Goblin Artificier deck.

Using bits and pieces from FeralKitten's Pimped Daretti deck and magicevan11's One Mans Trash is Another Mans Infinite Combo deck, I was able to team up with someone at the last possible second to enter a Two Headed Giant tournament today. We won the whole thing against teams that were far more prepared. My own addition (and recommendation) of Rocket Launcher with infinite mana sent us into the top 4. I went infinite at least 3 of the 6 rounds, including the finals, for wins. Thanks to the both of you for all the work you both put into your decks and making them available for review on TappedOut.

Welcome back from your long exile FeralKitten. Glad to see you active again. :)

If you get a chance, I'd love to bouce ideas off you and compare notes on this vs. The Great Red Menace (my take on things).

Thanks!

Nice TheDriveBy! Good to know the shenanigans in this deck are being put to good use :)

Hey Ender666666, yeah it's sure been a while. Thanks for picking up some of the slack while I was gone. I'm back to working on my decks on the weekends, and I'll definitely take a look at yours next time I'm deckbuilding.

Welcome Back! Btw ty for the answers ender, sorry for the late reply.

An update on myself. I got Dupliant, Gamble, Krark, Scarecrone and a few others. Didn't get yet Sensei's Top or Staff of Dom however. Reason being I did my first edh tourny (yay) and I heard Sensei might be banned soon. As for staff of dom...I just hate the card I dont know why XD. Funny you got a sculpting steel, I just got one too (was trying to be original...)

Question though, why did Strangle Hold get cut? I'm curious because I was very close to getting one now that the price dropped insanely low.

Also ever thought about Price of Glory? A good card for 2 bucks.

Finally, I don't recall if you had it before...but Nimdeathmantle causes insane combos with your wurmcoil/pent/myr and Krark.
