This deck is a Mono Black Aggro deck focusing on putting the beats down fast. With a combination of removal, hand disruption, and fast efficient beats it puts your opponent on a clock fast, and doesn't let them catch up. It has good match up against lots of the decks in the format, and costs 30 bucks!

Let's take a look at the game plan!

One drops:

We need to get the ball rolling fast, and there is no better way to do that then when TWELVE two power one drops.

  • 4x Rakdos Cackler : A flat 2/x for one. It dodges Ultimate Price and Doomblade which is also a plus. This is always going to be a 2/2. If you do have to play it unleashed then you're already loosing.

  • 4x Tormented Soul : Another 2/x for one. Heroic is just an added bonus that triggers with any of our 12 bestow cards, or one of our own removal spells.

  • 4x Gnarled Scarhide : Yet another 2/x for one. This one has a little more reach. You can bestow it on something like a Nyx-Fleece Ram to take away a blocker. You can also just bestow it on your guy just to get a little more power on the board.

This set of creatures really kicks the game off FAST. 12 of them means we almost always have one on turn one.

Two Drops:

These are the heart and soul of the deck. The ability to curve a one drop into anyone of these puts us in the driver seat from the start.

  • 4x Pain Seer : Heard of Dark Confidant? It's 80 bucks. Sadly we can't have Bob, so Bob Jr. will have to do! It provides card draw in a deck lacking in it, and is a solid aggressive body.

  • 4x Spiteful Return: A little extra reach. Obviously a 1/1 for two isn't great, but he breaks through stalled boards. Sorta the Ghor-Clan Rampager of this deck.

  • 4x Brain Maggot: It's Thoughtseize, on a body! It takes an answer, demmads and answer, and attacks! Awesome!

Three Drops:

The top end of this deck. Great finishers each and everyone.

  • 4x Herald of Torment : A 3/3 flyer for three is well above the curve. It's a lot of aggression in a meta week to flyers. Pressures Elspeth, Suns Champions and the likes. The bestow is simply icing on the cake.

  • 2x Mogis's Marauder : Board Stalled? Have an annoying Boros Reckoner in your way? Need the last bit of damage? He does it all for the lowly cost of 3 mana. Sadly he does almost nothing against control, so only two.

Removal

  • 3x Ultimate Price: Cheap removal that kills almost anything. Hero's Downfall is a little clunky.

  • 4x Boon of Erebos : While this isn't your typical inclusion, I have had nothing but good results. It counters removal, gives presence post wrath, and gets past stupid blockers. Another huge bonus is that no ones expecting it.

So that's the deck! I hope you all enjoy it. I have a ton of fun playing it and building it. Obviously Mutavault would be a huge upgrade but as an eight grader, I just can't afford it. Please comment and plus one! I really love it!

Thanks!

I went to my first FNM Friday piloting this deck! I ended up 5-1 losing in the top 4. It was still a blast and a great way to start off my magical career.

Round One: B/g Devotion W 2-0: Started off my FNM experience with one of the pillars of the format. Game one he mulled to 5, and spent two turns investing into Pack Rat before a Bile Blight effectively ended the game. Game two I was just too fast. One drop, into two one drops, into Herald of Torment.

Round Two: Boros Burn: W 2-1: This is really one of my better match ups. One look at my sideboard can show you why. Game one was a race, and I just was faster. Game two I mulled to 5 and couldn't catchup. Game three my sideboard kicked in and a Gift of Orzhova on a Herald of Torment put it away.

Round Three: B/r Aggro: W 2-1: This was against one of my college age friends. He was playing a very similar deck, with red for Lightning Strike, Spike Jester, and the like. Game one he took with a lightning fast curve and a pair of Lightning Strike's to seal the deal. Game two being on the play was a huge boon. One drop into double one drop was just enough to take it. I ended at one life. Game three he mulled to 5 and kept a double Mana Confluence hand. His hand was surprisingly good for a mull to five, but I pulled it in with 7 life left.

Round Four: U/W/r Control: W 2-0: Another one of my good college age buddies. He was playing typical Keranos Control. Game one he kept a two lander and never got any farther. He stumbled, and this deck is very good at capitalizing on mistakes. Game two was a great hand. Triple one drop, double Duress, two lands. That's very hard to beat :P.

Top 8

Round One: B/g Devotion W 2-0: Same guy from earlier, and it was the same story. Again I was too fast game one, and game two he found literally 0 removal on his mull to 6. Not much to say here. It's cool I went 4-0 in games against this guy :).

Round Two: U/W Control L 2-0: Game one double Detention Sphere, Jace, Architect of Thought, turn 6 Elspeth, Sun's Champion put it away. Game two I mulled to 6, and again Jace on four, Elspeth on 6 ended it.

All in all I was super happy with the performance. For my first FNM ever this was incredible for me. I hope to attend more and maybe win one! One question I have: I pulled a Hero's Downfall in one of my prize packs, does it deserve an inclusion?

Thanks! Cheers
