"Consistency and redundancy in a very powerful way" - that's definitely on display here, for sure. Some of the consistency cards I dislike? (e.g., Thorn of Amethyst is great in this deck, but it can be moderately unfun at times; and Mana Crypt has always felt very pay-to-win to me, so I generally avoid it).
Generally I was glad to see our creature-base mostly matches up. I feel like I'm doing something right there.
Most of the other cards you run that I do not are cards I probably should be running. The Wheels, Necropotence, and Reanimate look like great ways to get back in the game if the early riot doesn't go as planned. I wanted to build my deck with all my chips on the turn five riot; so I opted against those late-game recovery cards in favor of more 3-mana riot-starters. Now that the deck is moderately famous in my playgroup, the predictability of always rioting on turn 5 is turning into a big problem for me, so I may have to change things up. :/
I also really like the idea of using a spell (like Exsanguinate or Flame Rift) to start a massive pre-combat Riot, and having Urabrask or Mass Hysteria give my rioters haste, and surprise attacking with a hand full of eldrazi outta nowhere. Never worked out all that well for me, though; my deck doesn't have the tutor/draw potential to bring it all together, so I mostly gave up on that plan and took the spell damage out (for more creatures!). I feel like it probably works a lot better in your deck, and I imagine it's a lot of fun when it happens. Does it happen often?
Thanks for the reply! Viva la Mr. Rakdos!
(P.S. I was really excited to see Pyroblast. It's one of my favorite red cards, and Cyc Rift is objectively stupid, so. Good call there. I run it, and Red Elemental Blast, and Burnout in my other Rakdos deck: Rakdos hates you, and so do I.)

Wonder how Mycosynth Lattice works in conjunction /w Rakdos's ability - might look into that. Still not a fan of Harry in this deck. Ever think of putting in a way to bounce your own guys (Erratic Portal or Crystal Shard) ? Might be some other ways to do that - be awesome to get two uses out of some of your guys (on cast or ETB effects). Not sure I'm a fan of Exsanguniate but as mentioned above - it does not take much to get a lot of mileage out of it.

Alkadron, its like you know the history of this deck, thats exactly what would happen to this deck. My meta has a lot of disruption in it, and I sat around watching them play, while Mr. Rakdos would cry little hate-tears, from the command zone.....hence the evolution of the mid and late game plans. The need for redundancy became prevalent, really early in the creation of this deck, for me.
Also, its the same reason for the Thorn of Amethyst. If I can play this card early, I can really slow down a lot of that disruption.
I love the anti-blue spells. At some point, I had all 3 of the ones you mentioned, in this deck. Theyve kind of cycled out. But, stopping a Cyclonic Rift, with a Pyroblast, is always priceless. (Just like the Spanish Inquisition, no one ever expects it)
Flame Rift wrecks shit! Its like tacking fuel to Bobby Boucher (from the Waterboy)! It is pure rocket fuel to Mr. Rakdos. I highly recommend giving it a go, in your build.

You da man, Meat_Shieldxx1. Thanks again.
Unfortunately, Mr. Rakdos doesnt behave any differently, with Mycosynth Lattice out, there is no interaction there. Sad, it seemed like gold.
I like the idea of bouncing my creatures for second-casting abilities as well as protection. I took out Cloudstone Curio, simply to remove the infinite combo, but, Erratic Portal is a card I might be able to work with.

Price of Progress seems dangerous for how many non-basics you run lol

You got in my head, Alkadron. The last few times I played Thorn of Amethyst, I kept thinking about the possibilities, what if it was a Memory Jar?.......so, Im giving it a try.

K34, I can see why it would look like that. But, with 10 lands having a sacrifice effect, Price of Progress ends up hurting others in my meta, more then myself. In classic burn style, Mr. Rakdos rarely cares about the damage he does to you, he just wants others dead before you. It obviously becomes a useless card, when my life is low, but the value out of it can be very high. Great card to start a huge Eldrazi Riot with.

Let me know how the Memory Jar plan works out, friend! I'm curious to hear what you think of it.

Ancestral Statue + Outpost Siege (Dragon mode) can win you the game on the spot if you're casting Ancestral Statue for free.

That is such a nasty combo, thanks Wicked_N_Irish. That is exactly what Mr. Rakdos feeds on. I am strongly considering throwing an infinite combo, or two, back into this deck. Just for those occasional moments where you know you need to end the game, before another deck goes infinite. Ancestral Statue seems to have some good synergy with several other ETB effects that are already in this deck, as well. Good suggestion.

I like it! My take has a number of 1, 2 and 3 drop enablers to get Rakdos out and Eldrazi in the game ASAP. I also fly without infinite combos. Generally speaking, if youre casting free Eldrazi Titans or punching everyone in the face every turn, that should be enough, right?

I'd keep Thorn in - the 1 mana part is SOOOO good on so many levels. Jar needs to be in the deck though - ever think about throwing in Dragon Mage ? The R cost is a bit high.

Rain of Gore - is there something in the deck this combos /w ? Seems out of place.

You got a point, kdmurphy001. I put it in there as a defense against an attempt to put gain all the damage Im doing. But, that hasnt been an issue yet. So, Imp's Mischief is getting called up.

EventuallyClassy - big fan of Imp's Mischief. Been thinking of putting that in my black deck.

I know you already have a lot of enablers for Rakdos but have you ever considered Backlash?
January 31, 2018 7:46 p.m.
EventuallyClassy says... #20
Thanks again Mike94, nice suggestion. Backlash seems pretty nice, for a 3 drop it has some big potential. The only thing about it is consistency. It requires my opponents to have something out, for me to utilize it, making it possibly stay in my hand, early. Mid to late-game, it has some decent upsides though. Maybe Ill play around with it.

Marsh Flats isnt legal for Commander since it has qualifies as a white card

Well, Forestxavier20, I can see how it might be confusing, but it is not about the wording, it is about the color identity. Because Marsh Flats does not have a color identity or any mana symbols, it is ok to be in any Commander deck (not just black and/or white decks). All of the sacrifice lands are legal in every Commander deck (some might be useless in some decks though). Similar to being able to use Farseek in a mono-green deck (useless, but legal). I use as many sacrifice lands as possible. If you have the opportunity, I would look into it a little more, they can be really powerful with the ability to grab several different Dual-lands, as well as filter the deck of some more lands.
Thanks for reading the deck, good luck, and Viva la Rakdos!

... in this deck, you can use Marsh Flats to grab 5 differently named cards= Badlands, Blood Crypt, Smoldering Marsh, Swamp, and Leechridden Swamp. Very powerful at different stages in the game.

If at all possible, is it possible to add Hanweir Garrison? For more interactions, tokens and sweet eldrazi melding love?

Thanks, TheBooman, I am just feeling that the upside to that card takes some time to get to, and it ends up being a little out of the theme of the deck. It isnt a bad card, the melding interaction looks entertaining, but I dont really see it finding its way in. If you can find a way to make it bigger threat, or you can convince me on a card that needs to come out to make room for it, then we can talk. Thanks for reading that deck, and for the suggestion. Viva la Rakdos!

Thanks for the comment, Alkadron. I started this build with around 48-49 creatures, but I have gone through about 50-60 cards, to get to the version you see today. I know there are a lot of good builds out there, like your deck, that utilize a lot more creatures, however, this deck is set up with consistency and redundancy in a very powerful way. Ive cut almost all of the cards, that have more than 2 mana symbols in their casting cost, for speed. And, all the creatures that are left, are the ones that have given me the best board presence. Its getting more and more streamlined, every update. I hope your build crushes in your meta, viva la Mr. Rakdos!
