Wait that's a bad idea, it will kill my little guys haha.
But now I'm thinking about -1 of those two, -1 land, and +3 Reassembling Skeleton . With a mana curve mostly in the 1-2 range, 21 land will be no problem, especially so if I can get the scry guy out.

Played 5 casual games, went 0-2 and 2-1. Not quite sure if 21 land is enough, feeling like I might need to go back to 22.
Also, I think the balance of my control to creature ratio is off. Needs a little less control, a little more creatures. Maybe even a little more Jinxed Idol.

Thoughts on Earthquake in this deck?
Right now I'm contemplating -2 Reverb, -1 Fling, -2 Terminate, -1 Lightning Bolt and adding +1 Mountain, +2 Sarkan the Mad, +2 Jinxed Idol, +1 Reassembling Skeleton.

Mark of Mutiny gives your opponent an advantage once the card returns to his hand. I'm partial to Traitorous Instinct , which has a higher casting cost but doesn't buff your opponent's creatures.
August 10, 2010 11:23 a.m.
Unless the mechanics entail that you can sack the controlled creature, at which point I'll just shut up.
August 10, 2010 11:30 a.m.
Sacrificing only requires that you are the controller of a permanent, not the owner.
So, if I Mark of Mutiny one of your creatures, I control it until end of turn and have the ability to sack it with any multitude of things in my arsenal.
It's pretty awesome :)
I'd throw in some Traitorous Instinct but I've found that 8 control cards is the sweet spot, and as such, Instinct costs too much to cast to have it in there over the other two.

Made some changes to the deck, went a bit less on creature control since it wasn't working very well against a red deck with 16-18 creatures. Moved some of those older cards into the side board where it may make more sense game 2/3 to crank up the creature control again.

i like the changes. I took a look at the original as well and i think this version may make the deck more flexible and able to deal with many different threats. My only suggestion now would be to add Sign in Blood but that's really my own preference towards card advantage. not sure what i'd take out anyways... i made some changes to my own as well and then was inspired to make a mono black version. I think the red/black would still be better, but i like a good MBC deck.

Thinking about actually replacing Forked Bolt with Searing Blaze. Won't be useful turn 1, but between 4 Lightning Bolts and 3 Goblin Guides, odds are I should have something hitting my opponent turn 1 for 2 damage.
Turn 2, I'll get to nail a creature and do the required 2 damage to the opponent, all in one card. Hmm...
Would be bad if my opponent was a control deck, though, since I wouldn't see any creatures on turn 2.

Shifted a bit back towards the original idea, with some of the new aggro ideas mixed into the sideboard in case of going up against slower control decks.

Really liking the new changes. Finally got to play the deck a bit this past week. Went up against a green ramp, a knight deck, and a vamp deck. So far so good.
Bloodchief Ascension and Sarkhan for the late game are just simply awesome.

I have a similar deck. It's fun to sac my opponent's creatures. I also use some creatures that benefit from dying like Tuktuk the Explorer . Quest for the Gravelord is also a great addition.

I think Bloodthrone Vampire is better than Viscera Seer I've seen her win drafts multiple times.
I think you need to find a spot for atleast 1 more land, two would be much better. 22 just isn't enough if you have 4 and 5 drops.
August 30, 2010 1:07 p.m.
Disagree here, I'm not going to have a lot of things to sack to make her a competent attacker. Viscera Seer works because he's 1cmc and the scry can get me something I need, as opposed to a +2/+2 buff that may or may not even be able to get through to my opponent.
Also, trust me when I say 22 lands is more than enough when 92% of your deck is 3cmc or less, 81% of it 2cmc or less. I've played dozens of games with this deck and not once have I been short of land. In fact, some times I've had too much.
My previous deck that I had been playing with for a year in tournaments had a higher average CMC, and also ran 22 lands. It rarely had issues.
The only spot I'd consider Bloodthrone would be in replacement of Bazaar Trader, since she's faster, but she doesn't give away my Jinxed Idols.

... And with Bazaar Trader you can keep what you steal with Act of Treason by using his ability. ;)

I never would have thought to use Bazaar Trader that way with Act of Treason . Nice catch =D.
August 30, 2010 7:52 p.m.
I don't think the Bazaar Trader can work that way. If for no other reason than the fact that you cant gain control of something you already control. Additionally, you can't use it to wipe the end-of-turn from Act of Treason . Unless you guys know something I don't here, or I'm missing something.
August 30, 2010 11:21 p.m.
It absolutely does. When you are applying similar effects to a permanent, you are creating a time stamp similar to the functions of the stack.
So when you Act of Treason a creature, and then Bazaar Trader it, your ability overrides the Act of Treason, and you now are the permanent controller.
Today, I was playing my friend's level up knight deck, and I managed to permanently control a Knight Exemplar, a leveled up Caravan Escort, and a White Knight. It was awesome :)

Intriguing. Guess that's what i get for not playing for years and coming back to find mana burn doesnt exist anymore lol.
August 31, 2010 5:52 p.m.
I felt the same way too when I restarted a year ago :P
It had been almost 10 years since I last played...and I miss mana burn lol.

Lol I just restarted for the first time since Mercadian Masques -- guess I'm not as alone in this new game as I thought.

what about Blightning it would work good with Bloodchief Ascension
September 2, 2010 11:08 p.m.
Too expensive for a Bloodchief Activation, plus it's rotating in a month.
