i meant valakut murders your percys (so no dealing 6 to them everyturn.) Lucky for you its not in your meta all I see is Green eldrazi, valakut ramp, and UW control.... SO after 3 hours of playtesting, the green eldrazi matchup can be won by out playing them and memoricide is amazing against every deck. period. The UW control (newer one with no creatures) wrecks this decks face with no way for you to deal with all their planes walkers. Try that sac mage that kills things with counters. Relic rarely wins, they have no creature to equip things to. Elf is tough as they can out ramp you, then swing big with Ezuris overrun. Infect is an even matchup, just outplay them.

Hmm, well I think if I had Memoricide, Duress, and/or Hexmage, I should be able to manage against U/W control, although the one in my meta is not the creature less one.
The elf overrun matchup was tough but theoretically should be very easy post board if I side in more dork busters and burn sweeps.
Infect I agree with you, we can just outplay them, although an early Plague Stinger is kind of a bitch if I have no cheap response in hand.
Now, I'm new to Memoricide, how would you go about playing that card?
October 8, 2010 5:52 p.m.
Tempted to remove Jinxed Idol and Furnace Celebration. The latter has been nearly useless, and the former is only really good if you get two out.
October 8, 2010 6:26 p.m.
Would add +1 Abyssal Persecutor , +1 Bazaar Trader , +1 Bloodghast , +1 mountain, and +3 Culling Dais .

remove jinked idol and just try treason with fling, same mana cost / effect. Planeswalkers wreck it still and lots of decks are going with less creatures in general. Memoricide turn 4 is a dagger to combo or control. Whatever card is getting you locked down is gone from there hand, graveyard and library. If you manage to kill some of their threats you can get some real punch from it and see what theyre up to! (you search the deck lol!)
October 8, 2010 7:42 p.m.
I will toy with Fling again. It wasn't very productive before, but that was early on and I've got some experience now.
Finally starting to figure out how to work this deck, even with the Jinxed Idols, although I think they're going to be sideboard material played against decks low on creatures.
Culling Dais will take its place, and Memoricide will go into the sideboard for sure. My biggest issue, against decks with creatures, is that Jinxed Idol sometimes makes Mutiny/Treason less useful for me, and that I can't seem to keep my sack/keep engines (Seer, Trader) in play long enough to make Mutiny/Treason effective. I always want to be able to sack or keep the creature I take control of. Culling Dais will ensure this, plus draw me cards.
October 11, 2010 1:25 p.m.
I have finalized -4 Jinxed Idol , -3 Furnace Celebration , and +3 Culling Dais . That leaves me with 4 slots open.
I'd like to go +1 Abyssal Persecutor and +1 Bloodghast . As for the other two slots, I can't decide between more burn, control, or beats. I was leaning towards beats, thinking perhaps +2 card:Demon of Death's Gate. I'll have 16 black creatures, 4 of which at a certain point I'd like to sack, and 8 of which are recurring. The 6 life is steep, but I tend to find I'm usually very high in health when I die.
October 14, 2010 2:17 p.m.
Ok, so the changes didn't quite turn out like I had planned this morning. After getting some advice locally, we went with -3 Furnace Celebration , -3 Bazaar Trader , -1 Swamp, +1 Blackcleave Cliffs , +1 Bloodghast , +1 Sarkhan the Mad , and +4 Culling Dais .
Still hoping to get my hands on a 4th Persecutor and squeeze him in there somewhere.
So, the changes are an interesting compromise to my original list, but I like it. Jinxed Idol with Culling Dais will be an interesting pair. Play testing begins!

too bad you can't do manabarbs anymore. would there be anything that could serve that purpose?
October 15, 2010 10:28 a.m.
Perhaps Contaminated Ground , but not sure how or where it would fit.

I like contaminated ground. It beats the hell out of Culling Dias. Maybe I'm missing something, but that just seems like a dead card. It would also give you room for a fourth percy. Which is almost a must.
October 19, 2010 8:29 p.m.
Well, I replaced Bazaar Trader with Culling Dais , so that's how the artifact snuck in there.
Culling Dais can't get bolted, and can take care of a creature the turn it comes into play. Plus, it can be sacked for card draw. It's faster and more versatile.
But, I'll be removing one and getting a fourth percy when I can find a place locally with one in stock, for sure. Agreed 100% with you.
October 19, 2010 11:42 p.m.
Staggershock is 4 damage for 3 Red Mana. Makes great removal as it often clears 2 critters in one shot, two turns.

I haven't read through all the comments, so I don't know if it's been suggested yet but, have you considered Mimic Vat or Grave Titan ? The Mimic Vat would allow you to keep that Baneslayer Angel you marked last turn as well as keep up a healthy amount of sac ammo. Grave Titan would give you 2 extra bodies on the field with each attack, which would make a good alt-win and a neverending supply of chumps and ammo.
October 20, 2010 4:30 a.m.
Mimic Vat would definitely be good in this deck. I think you have too many cards that require you to sac a creature for their affect. You want enough creatures to sac for your idol to win, not other cards to screw around. I'd say using a Wurmcoil Engine to sac seems pretty solid, maybe get him in there?
Check out my deck? U/W Titan Control

@Jimmer - Actually, you were the first on here to suggest both of those cards, but the owner at my local store had suggested both of them, and I agree they make a lot of sense. Will experiment.
@dehboy - Agree, will just have to see how I can fit it in and what it will do for me first. Could you clarify on the having too many cards that require me to sac a creature for their affect?
October 20, 2010 10:48 a.m.
you might consider 2x Splinter Twin ... even at the expense of dropping Mark of Mutiny and Act of Treason down to 2ofs... you can use the twin to create sac opportunities ad infinitem
October 20, 2010 12:30 p.m.
err I meant to say dropping mark and act down to THREE ofs not 2... also i know the RR cost seems expensive but generally you wouldn't want/need to cast this until mid-game (which is why only 2 of it is ok I think)
October 20, 2010 12:31 p.m.
i played a simil deck in some fnm and find some problems to win... i saw this and found some ideas good... last fnm 3-1-1 :) lose against eldrazi ramp (really hard for this deck) and draw with valakut... my list: http://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/sacrifice-v2/
October 20, 2010 1:56 p.m.
Yeah, I've been playtesting a lot against Valakut and it seems about 50/50, maybe ever so slightly in my favor. Although, if you played with the deck listed in your link, despite only several changes that makes it play a LOT different than mine.
Eldrazi ramp is indeed very hard for the deck, you just have to bank on Memoricide post board to prevent anything ridiculous from coming out, like Emrakul. I can actually handle Ulamog, given a Mark of Mutiny.
Not exactly sure Splinter Twin would help in this deck as it is.
October 20, 2010 3:06 p.m.
I've also been feeling like Reassembling Skeleton is too slow. Bloodghast has just simply been superior in every way, such as damage and recurrence. I feel like getting rid of him for some extra oomph might be the best idea. Will also drop down a Culling Dais for a 4th Percy when I can find one.
October 20, 2010 3:07 p.m.
skeleton are very good to have other chances to sacrifice for idol or pumping culling dais... and the beetle grow up very very fast... if you look at my profile u can see other version of this BR... but i think this is superior... drawing a lot of cards gives a good advantage then in the early game we are aggro style... late game sarkhan and abyssal do good job... i like one phoneix beacuse she's like a wrath... sometimes she saves my ass ... 4+4 treason and mark are a little too heavy for me... beacuse when u play idol theese spell are only like a removal... consuming vapors does a great job ... and sign in blood gives more cards!
trust me and keep out viscera seer and test beetles :)
p.s. i'm also tryng to find a way to put mimic vat... i think that card has a chance to be powerful
p.p.s. i apologize for my english... ... i have some problems in magic discussions xD
October 20, 2010 3:28 p.m.
How are you able to pump the beetles fast enough without viscera seer? Culling Dais only allows one sacrifice per turn, and with Jinxed Idol your opponent is going to be cautious about tossing it back and forth with you if a beetle is on the battlefield.
I will try it but I don't know it will work with my version of the deck. I am keeping 4 treason, 4 mark for sure.
October 20, 2010 7:31 p.m.
Also, another idea is Magmaw . Not sure if you find yourself with extra mana often, but it would fit into the damage-dealing aspect of this deck very well.

What do you mean I get murdered by my Percys?
If you mean I get stuck with them, that's never happened.
Let me know what you find, I don't have Valakut in my meta, so far mostly U/W control, infect, quest of the holy relic, and elf overrun.
