The main goal of the deck is to maintain a steady casting pace of at least one creature per turn from turn 2 or 3 onward (depending on whether you need to save mana for removal or not). Then the grand game changer/finisher,
Gray Merchant of Asphodel
pops out and all of your opponents' internal organs invert themselves.
Geralf's Messenger; holy flip this guy is annoying! He's just such a Flurp. He hurts like crazy, and him and Bloodchief Ascension are like two peas in a pod. (3 devotion is nice too)
Inquisition of Kozilek; as far as I'm concerned, in this type of deck it's like a painless thoughsieze, because you won't need to use it late game unless you're worried about removal or just have extra mana.
Liliana, Heretical Healer; Jeepers, nothing saps up kill spells like this little guy, but if she doesn't get swished away, she's a nasty little bugger.
Gatekeeper of Malakir; originally i ran Geth's Verdict in place of this, but I switchced it over to this and I have no regrets. The sorcery speed means very little in the end, because you still get a creature out of it and it plops a few drops of devotion onto the board as well.
Victim of Night
; my favourite kill spell ever for mono-black (unless kill-player spells count, in which case it would be Hatred). It's pretty much the same as Go for the Throat, Doom Blade, Ultimate Price in its idea, but it hits a lot more stuff 90% of the time.
Gray Merchant of Asphodel
; this is like eating a cookie in a room full of people; it's good for you, but sucky for everyone else. It can take an aggro match up from you at 5 life and them at 16 life to you at 14 life and them at 7 life very easily, at which point you win and commence the ceremonial t-bagging of the corpse.
