I realize I actually can't afford the deck as it is, so I made Darksteel Relic on a Budget, and I think I'll put in Sword of War and Peace .

I would run 4 Stoneforge Mystic , that way you can pull up a sword in almost every case and its basically one or more free draws, sometimes netting even more draws. Nothing not to like for a 2 drop. You also could consider Argentum Armor , I know thats not what your deck is but it would be a easy way to make your deck even more absurd.

With Torpor Orb mainboarded, I can shut down other players who play Stoneforge Mystic . If they don't have any, I can then switch the two. Seems like a fun bit of meta-gaming.

@disc Do you have a deck list for it? I'm kind of curious to see how that deck would look.

I don't understand how anyone can think any deck with 20 lands is consistent or good. 23 is solid standard.

Solid Standard? You mean like a deck that includes a card with a CMC over 3 and no ramp?
June 16, 2011 10:49 p.m.
@mossflower ill write you a good one tomorrow, power 9, no mythics, or any restrictions?
having more than 22 lands is dumb, unless you're ramping really high something is wrong.
drop the Mox Opal s for Lightning Bolt s?

No. 24 lands is a solid standard number without extra ramp or super costs, or landfall or anything extra requirements. This doesn't include fetches.

@disc No restrictions. Let's see it at its best. And by Lightning Bolt , do you mean Galvanic Blast ? Either way, I don't want to remove Mox Opal because it fuels metalcraft, can be used with the main combo, and it's nice to have at least a smidgen of ramp (I already removed Sphere of the Suns ). I'll sideboard the blast in against really aggro decks and those with dangerous planeswalkers.
And 24 really is the normal amount of lands for a standard deck. I've never heard anyone say 23 before.

I say 23 to fit your deck. Mox Opal only sorta, makes up the difference, with three in there I can see dropping the extra land. I run twenty five lands in my decks, but I have all the sac lands so I run eight sac lands in my decks. A sac land thins out the land in your deck because when you use it, it's 2 for 1. So I run 17 lands, eight of them are sac lands. If you can't see how that's better than whatever you're running and lolling at me then it's not my fault when you miss a land drop turn four and I'm still pumping out mana and creatures drawing answer after answer.

I think you need to maindeck stoneforge mystic. It's puts your deck online faster and is too good to be sitting in a sideboard.

Nice deck,
When I saw Darksteel Relic I really thought that it would be a card that I never used, this deck changes my mind!

@Flashfax Missing a land drop turn 4 isn't an issue: nothing in this deck will ever have me paying 4 mana. My only concern is getting the third turn land drop. For that, two more fetch lands may be a good idea, but I'd have to drop my Dispatch es. And I worked so hard to fit them in...
@captainkorf Stoneforge Mystic is only good because of the swords and Batterskull . Yes, I've included 2 swords, and Stoneforge Mystic would help with those, but it doesn't work with Torpor Orb . And Torpor Orb shuts down caw-blade for exactly that reason. If I main-boarded the mystic, I'd be trying to beat them at their own game, but with the orb, I stop their game while fueling my main combo at the same time.
@hhenson1295 Lose 1 power on my flier in exchange for the ability to bounce equipments for Puresteel Paladin ? Maybe...

i know it might be a bit expensive, but what about a sword or two? with the paladin you dont have to worry about a equip cost turn three( without the mox's) and maybe just to help for after the rotation Gideon Jura, they are reprinting him, and hes a 6/6 beat stick with a sword or something, that doesn't put you back mana at all? just pitching some ideas if you have a few bucks for a sword or two.
