For claiming such a god hand I remind that one Doom Blade or Go for the Throat instantly kills it.

@mozerdozer Yeah, one removal spell prevents the entire thing, but that was just a fun "what-if" anyways: Since I never expect to see the specific sequence of cards that it requires (its just too specific and therefore ridiculously unlikely to ever occur), there's no point in considering the other player. Still, a guy can dream, right?

I see you finally caved and replaced spiral dualist with crusade. Just wondering tho if you considered Etched Champion in that slot, seems like it fits the deck pretty good.

one major flaw of the turn three god mode is that in your ideal use of the deck your using 15 cards by turn three. not sure that is even possible with only drawing one card per turn. sounds like a good idea though

@Flashfax Quick, get the Dispatch es!

@lporiginalg Yeah, my inner Spike got up off the ground and whacked my inner Johnny over the head while he wasn't looking. Since I don't plan on buying this version of the deck (its too expensive), I've decided to try and make it as competitive as possible. Doublestrike works great with equipments like Basilisk Collar , and that's why I have the creatures I do, but protection from all colors is pretty nice... Theoretically, I could get the same effect on Mirran Crusader if I equipped both swords on it, but of course, that'll never happen.

@jaxxs21 I think JohnDamnit already went through this: 2 Puresteel Paladin s means you draw two cards for every equipment.

THIS DECK JUST GOT SOOO MUCH BETTER WITH THE BANNING OF STONEFORGE! I mean, stoneforge mystic would be amazing in this deck, but it's not necessary for the combo. Totally cool and competitive equip deck without the mystic!

Would Sphere of the Suns be an okay replacement for the Mox Opal if I cant get a hold of them?

June 21, 2011 3:16 a.m.

mossflower says... #9

I was actually really glad to hear that they banned Stoneforge Mystic ; I'm super excited to take this to FNM now! =D

EliteCub, If the opals are the only thing missing, (meaning you're not completely budget like Darksteel Relic on a Budget), then Sphere of the Suns or Prophetic Prism probably would work as an adequate replacement. Though you might also have to change the Glint Hawk s to Kor Duelist s.

Hmm, +1 for an interesting concept. But why in my head am I screaming "Try using that Puresteel Paladin in WW Quest deck!"???

Wait, wouldnt mox opal have summoning sickness to tap on turn one?

June 21, 2011 6:09 p.m.

NewYork01 says... #12

artifacts don't have summoning sickness iirc

June 21, 2011 8:07 p.m.

psycoone says... #13

Mox Opal isnt a creature thus summoning sickness doesnt effect it also i dont see how your giving Goblin Gaveleer trample

June 21, 2011 8:25 p.m.

NewYork01 says... #14

it has trample on its own

I went head to head with a deck very similar to this except that it has a Stoneforge Mystic in it and it totally obliterated my mono-black Vampire Ascension deck that defeated about 10 other decks that came against it. I hate this deck.

This deck looks like so much fun. Really want to build it and give it a try at FNM

wewars_20 says... #18

how did you get 8 cards in the end?? my count is you only have 5 cards left on turn three after casting and draw from 2 puresteel paladin's ability..

June 22, 2011 8:48 p.m.

wewars_20 says... #19

@psycoone: Goblin Gaveleer is trample already by himself.

June 22, 2011 8:52 p.m.

mossflower says... #20

@wewars_20 By golly, you're right. Now I feel silly. I'm kind of glad you checked that; shows you're paying attention. =D

He is drawing 12 cards just from the 2 puresteel paladins alone. blungeon brawl makes all artifacts equipments as well thus allowing him more draws

shanghaied says... #22

This deck looks like a hell of a lot of fun. Gonna try and run it tomorrow night; I think I have most of the cards...

June 23, 2011 10:30 p.m.

shanghaied says... #23

Not really any place in this deck for Batterskull though, is there? If you can close the door on turn 3 you won't need it.

June 23, 2011 10:33 p.m.

mossflower says... #24

@shanghaied Tell me how it goes. I might be taking the budget version of this tomorrow, but it'd be nice to have an idea of how the legit version does.

As for Batterskull ,

It's already in there!

MATHEMATICAL PROOF: Basilisk Collar +card:Accorder's Shield+Flayer Husk + Glint Hawk Idol (as an equip) = Batterskull +deathtouch! =D

In all seriousness, only reason I don't stick it in there is cause it doesn't fit on the curve. If I put one in, then I'd really need to stick in more lands, which would slow down the deck.

June 23, 2011 11:11 p.m.

shanghaied says... #25

That makes sense!

Unfortunately my cards won't get in until next week, so FNM trials will have to wait. That gives me a bit of time to work on getting dual/fetch lands sorted out before then; I know I've got a stack of them in my closet I need to dig up.
