NOT UP TO DATE
I found this deck Demons and their Gangbangs by HungryWampa. I enjoyed the idea behind his deck and wanted to make my own Demons with my own spins.
Creatures
Archfiend of Depravity - Is your opponent putting out tons of creatures? Here is a 5 drop, continuous (almost) board wipe.
Blood Speaker
- Multiple use Tutor for Demons. With the amount of mana this deck can pump out you can easily grab any Demon you want, play it and the Blood Speaker again.
Demon of Death's Gate
- I have yet to play this guy through his alternate cost. Usually I have enough mana just to throw him out. And once he is out, he is rude. 9/9 flying trample.
Desecration Demon
- 4 drop 6/6 that people don't like getting hit by. They will usually sac a creature in order to keep this guy away. So it either thins their board or swings for a lot.
Gray Merchant of Asphodel - Super easy damage for 5 mana. Devotion comes naturally with this deck so this guy usually hits for 8 or more, all the while gaining the same amount.
Griselbrand - A key player in this deck. When you are pumping out 20-30 mana per turn you can draw 7 and play a ton of stuff. Plus, like other big ass Demons, he is hard to kill and hard hitting.
Indulgent Tormentor - Extra draw per turn. If your opponent decides they don't want you drawing two per turn, they can hurt themselves or thin their board.
Lord of the Void
- Absolutely brutal Demon. For one, he is a 7/7. But on top of that you effectively mill for 7 and get a free creature. I grabbed an Elderscale Wurm with him my first night playing this deck.
Ob Nixilis, the Fallen
- Turns your land play into damage and makes a big creature at the same time.
Reaper from the Abyss - Lots of things are dying with this deck. There are many ways to force creature death through sacrifice. So effectively a two for one off of a sac power. Also he sways opponents from blocking with chumps as if they die, I choose something to die.
Reiver Demon
- Board wipe that is also a 6/6 flyer.
Rune-Scarred Demon - Tutor that is also a 6/6 flyer.
Artifacts
Elbrus, the Binding Blade
- 13/13 flying intimidate trample death machine for 8 mana. And with all the flying, damage is easy to get through.
Sol Ring - The king of casual mana acceleration.
Whip of Erebos - Works wonders when paired with Griselbrand's draw power. Also just makes you harder to kill and can grab out an emergency creature if necessary.
Instants
Dark Ritual - One black for three? I'll take it! Couple these with a few Sol Rings and you can easily throw out big stuff before they rightfully should come out.
Geth's Verdict
- Force a sacrifice and lose 1 life. Great early game card while you are waiting for your ramp to fully extend.
Sorceries
Diabolic Tutor
- Demonic Tutor that is more expensive in mana but less expensive in $$$
Hymm to Tourach - Early game stall. Forcing discard can get rid of scary things and just annoy your enemies. These will commonly be taken out for Doom Blades from sideboard.
Enchantment
Painful Quandary - Absolutely brutal. Forcing discard whenever they cast a spell unless they take 5 damage. This hurts a lot of decks, especially aggro ones.
Planeswalker
Liliana of the Dark Realms - She is here to get you swamps and to make those swamps devastating. When your 6 swamps are tapping for 4 black a piece, it gets crazy.
Lands
swamps - Good ol black mana
Rogue's Passage - Not used much but can be helpful in a pinch. Also helps activate player damage cards if they have blockers.
Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx - There is so much devotion in this deck that this card gets insane. Tap a Sol Ring and Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx and boom, 2 mana is now 10.
Sideboard
Demon's Horn
- When you play another black deck this card is just funny.
Doom Blade - The most used sideboard card. Really helps out with getting rid of pesky things that the rest of the deck can't deal with.
Murder - For when Doom Blade doesn't work.
Ob Nixilis, Unshackled - Is your opponent searching left and right? Now they won't.
Orbs of Warding - To help shut down direct damage decks.
Tainted Remedy
- To shut down lifegain decks.
Viper's Kiss
- To help stop infinite combos.
Maybeboard
Mark of the Oni
- Haven't quite figured out where this would fit into the deck but it seems fun.
Deck Performance
I played this deck at FNM last night. We do 4 rounds, each are best 2 of 3. Keep in mind this format is a Casual one created by the shop owner. So this means anything but infinite combos and EXTREME fun sucking decks are legal. First match I played against a Slivers deck. I lost first round, didn't sideboard. Barely won second round, still didn't sideboard. Lost third. If I would have sideboarded I would have had a much better chance. I chalk that loss up to playing like a donkey. Second match was against a thopter/artifact deck. Thopter decks usually rely on the fact that their opponents have no flying defense. Dastardly Demons says lol. Third match was against a green ramp/Quicksilver Amulet deck. He got out Elderscale Wurm and Progenitus early on but couldn't do anything to me because I had out Liliana's emblem and Whip of Erebos. Eventually I used Griselbrand's draw power to force sacrifice then swing for the win. Second round is when I got Elderscale Wurm with
Lord of the Void
. That felt good. And fourth match was versus what seemed to be a red agro. It was a younger kid so it didn't seem very fleshed out. Demons slaughtered it.
