I think Profit / Loss and Far / Away are definitely options to consider. At first glance, they are at the top of my list, but I'm going to mull it over and vote after work.

If we draft Far / Away we could actually take an Azorius/Izzet/Dimir gate at some point for the off-chance to fuse it.

Well, if we take far and away without being in blue, we're really not getting maximum value. And I would hate to rely on a single gate for the splash on it.
We really do need more than 2 creatures.
July 7, 2013 6:05 p.m.
Okay, back from work. I know we need more creatures, but I think it's too early to take them when there is a better option, that involves removal.
I think that just playing Away by itself is a better spell than any of these creatures. Also we are likely passing into a blue player, considering what we saw in round one. If he's also black, I'd hate to give it to him.
My choices:
1) Profit / Loss 2) Far / Away
This one looks to have had less time. That's too bad. Some discussion it still needed here.

@ vic: I would've preferred Profit / Loss too, but I can't stay up all night waiting for the people from all different time zones. I wrote in the description, that I will forward our votes at about midnight GMT+0. We had extra time for the first pick of the second pack because of all the auto-drafting going on.
Most people were in favor of the gatekeepers at the point I forwarded the vote, so I'm not going to lean against the group, although this pack seems to tell me that I should've done it.
Creature wise, this pack seems almost the same as the last. Hired Torturer vs Rubblebelt Maaka vs Smelt-Ward Gatekeepers . Also, Punish the Enemy . Without the added choice of the split cards unfortunately.

I say we grab another smelt ward and make sure to pick up another couple gates as we go. I'm not a big fan of profit/loss in limited. I don't think you're going to find much that it kills which really just makes it a kind of expensive limited combat trick. I'd rather steal their bomb with smelt ward all day long.
July 8, 2013 5:25 a.m.
I suppose the gatekeeper is the way to go here. But we need to grab gates every chance we get. Since we kept some people from getting them last time, other people will get more eager to take them. Punish the Enemy would be my 2nd choice.
RussischerZar on the last pick we lost the time at the beginning, not the end. The pick didn't come as soon. That's what I meant. That will happen sometimes, I understand. It's just too bad that it happened on that pick. There are some creatures that we would only be able to kill with a Far / Away .

@ vic: I posted pack 2 pick 2 about 1 hour after the usual postings, which is well within variance.
Since we picked the red keepers last pick over everything else, it would be rather inconsistent not to pick a second one here.

Agreed. Hopefully some rakdos or boros guildgates will show up to really hammer home our strategy.

RussischerZar, I guess it must have come in immediately after I went to bed then. I checked about an hour and half after it usually comes up for me. But all's well; no worries. Now let's just hope for those gates.

I feel like it's already decided we're taking the smelt-ward. Whice is fine cause he's my vote too.

Sorry guys I was away on the weekend so I couldn't contribute much. For this round my vote goes to Rubblebelt Maaka . I know we will pick the gate but I rly like that creature XD

Gates matter. All of the gatekeepers are awesome in limited an the smelt ward is possibly the best of all.

So, semi-good picks in this pack are imho: Breaking / Entering , Rakdos Drake , Maze Abomination , Wear / Tear
July 9, 2013 3:18 a.m.
I think I'd go with the Drake.
Entering is tempting, theme-wise, but I really think our best value card for the cmc is the drake. And we could really do with bringing our average cost down. This way we can get active with some early weapons.

Hmm. It's a little tempting to grab Wear and Tear, it'd be nice to have some enchantment destruction. But this is a bit too early to be grabbing sideboard cards, dudes are where it's at. I think the Rakdos Drake is the pick. Low cost, evasion, solid attacker. A nice balance t oour defensive 2/4's.
By the way the only gate here is a foil. So someone has already decided to grab gates. That person obviously isn't in Golgari, or either black/green isn't the pairing he needs fixing for most desperately. Looks like our gate drafting pack 1 has made him a little desperate, to take a gate in picks 1 or 2. It also means there should be a missing common - the non-foil gate. The foil gate has replaced a common in this pack, so the numbers add up the same way. I'm just being pedantic!
I like how our deck is looking so far guys. Nice work.

I just wanted to say that I don't know what card rarity the foil gate has replaced. I'm just assuming that the "missing unknowns" are of their rarity based on the regular 1 rare, 3 uncommons per pack. So the foil in this pack could theoretically have replaced an uncommon.

I'm going to vote for the Abomination. I'm not a fan of the Drake, and the Abomination is a nice bodied deathtoucher and it will give our multis deathtouch when we draft them.

5 mana for a Zealous Persecution seems bad. There's not much in the way of 1 toughness creatures, so it's not going to wipe a board.
Frankly, I think we need creatures more than we need low-impact overcosted spells.
