I wonder if I'm going to miss this pick. I have to go to work soon.

@vic: Sorry, not my fault Caley sent us the wrong packs. I hope we get an additional day since he apparently messed up this one.
July 14, 2013 2:25 p.m.
I figured it wasn't your fault. Sounds like there will be enough time. That's fine.

Calling the crew for pack 2, pick 9: vic, thebeardedshuffler, tigersfan774, VRonin, anewsome, GoldGhost012, xXBantbladesXx
As I expected; we get an extra day because of the screw-up.

No really good things left here, we should probably pick Sinister Possession out of them.
July 15, 2013 3:47 a.m.
I'll go with hatedrafting Restore the Peace . That could hurt us if we get more aggro, esp if we don't happen to be swinging any gatekeepers.
Sinister Possession would be my 2nd choice. I dunno, is there any chance we might ever run 3 of them??
July 15, 2013 4:06 a.m.
Another thought: No one else seems to want the Sinister Possessions. So we may be passed yet another one or two next round.

If I was going to hate anything out it'd be the Niv Cyclops. That thing is amazingly powerful.
But I guess we pick up yet another Possession. Who knows, enough of them might lead to an actual strategy for us.. all our low curve could just be those, and then their creatures hurt them more than/as much as they hurt us.

I say we take Clear a Path . Gets rid of pesky defenders like the cyclops for 1 mana.
July 15, 2013 12:09 p.m.
I pick Sinister Possession . It could be a think in limited especially when we don't plan on throwing down a lot of early creatures.
July 15, 2013 12:26 p.m.
I'd say Clear a Path there are a lot of defenders in this format and this might come in handy

There are only three defenders in this set, which are Hired Torturer , Nivix Cyclops and Murmuring Phantasm . The latter of which is borderline unplayable and the others are too specific for it to make Clear a Path an anywhere decent MB card. At max it's a sideboard card against an izzet deck.
July 15, 2013 5:08 p.m.
You are right, I checked better, I' change my vote and say hatedraft!

Ok, hatedrafting the cyclops is the way to go then I think.

3 sinister possession DOES give us an option for early plays. Any 2/2 or 2/3 or 1/1 they play can become at best a way to stop them attacking us if they went aggro, at worst, we need 1 mana less to kill with debt to the deathless each time they attack or block.
While hatedrafting the clops is the best hatedraft, we might strengthen our own deck with possession. As a sideboard card against aggro decks (where we bring all 3 of them in) it's not the worst strategy.

I just checked and there's no other Sinister Possession possibly rotating back to us for the second packs. Having a third one gives us good consistency if we want to go that route.
July 15, 2013 6:57 p.m.
I still vote we draft the Sinister Possession . Although I agree that the Nivix Cyclops would be the best hatedraft, I don't see it as worth hatedrafting in this format. The only time I've ever seen it really do work is in pauper constructed surrounded by a bunch of Faithless Looting Artful Dodge and Fling s.
July 15, 2013 8:59 p.m.
Since no one else wants Restore the Peace, I'll go with Sinister Possession.

Another Riot Control could be ours. Make them take damage on attack through Sinister Possession and then don't take damage and even heal through Riot Control . Sounds like a strategy lol.
Or maybe splash green for the wolf rider.

Riot Control . Its not completely terrible, and it would probably be a bad idea to splash another color this late in the draft.
July 16, 2013 4:32 a.m.
I can't help but wonder if we could have picked one of those split cards and been passed the 3rd smelt ward here. Oh well. Btw, only 2 of them are listed in the deck.
Anyway, I don't think any of these would ever see playing time for us, so I vote to hatedraft the Wolf Rider. He's big enough to eat a gatekeeper, and is a solid beater.
July 16, 2013 5:31 a.m.
I vote Riot Control . I think it's better to take the card that will legitimately help our deck rather than hatedrafting.

I thinks it's doubtful we'll use two riot controls. Take the wolf rider.
