thebeardedshuffler, I completely agree with that, but I'm curious how Riot Control removes tokens.

Derp, sorry, I was confusing it with Restore the Peace when I typed that up. For some reason I always do that..
It's still bad though. Fog effects are only good as part of an integrated strategy.

I like it more for the life gain. But I see your point about the wolf dude. I also forgot that we already got a riot control earlier.
I think I will still vote Riot Control because it gives us at least 1 extra turn, if not 2 due to life gain. That could make our smelt ward gatekeepers a lot more powerful. Again, I can see the point about the wolf, so if we decide on that, I'm cool either way.

Imho the Riot Control is almost like a Time Warp , without the "draw a card" effect but instead some life gain.
July 16, 2013 10:05 a.m.
I agree. That's why it still has my vote. Also, on the occasion they do try to Alpha strike, we can negate it, gain life, then alpha strike of our own by playing a smelt ward and attacking into their defenseless board. Just a thought.

So how many creatures are we expecting our opponent to control at any one time for Riot Control?

Okay here's the thing. If Riot Control is our topdeck in a bad situation, then it's bought us time to do what. Draw another card? If riot control WAS a better card, we would get there faster.
Time warp legitimately steals a turn. If they are drawing a card and not having to spend resources to establish their previous state, then all you did was skip your own turn, not theirs. Time Ebb does the same thing, because they A: have to draw it again and B: have to cast it again. RC does none of these things.

So without me it's 2 votes for riot control, 2 wolf-rider hatedraft. TBH I would vote to let the other people hate-draft or let them have their wolf-rider, then steal it and bash theirs skulls in with it :P
I also don't think any group next to us is in Selesnya colors.
+1 Riot Control

RussischerZar, 3 of us voted for the Wolf Rider:
Me, tigersfan774, and thebeardedshuffler.
July 16, 2013 7:49 p.m.
He's right. It is 3 votes wolf to 2 vote RC. 2 people haven't voted yet.

Oops, sorry, too late. Anyway it wouldve been 3:3 if I'd voted for Riot Control . Maybe we should make our votes more clear as in the last draft debate.

From now on, when voting please indicate clearly, in a separate line. Like
or when changing the vote:
+1 Riot Control
July 17, 2013 6:10 a.m.
Someone running several Deputy of Acquittals would be able to almost completely nullify our strategy so far.
+1 Deputy of Acquittals hate drafted.

I don't think there are many people running azorius colors though.
July 18, 2013 4:12 a.m.
Could very well be the group we're passing to, though. I'm sure they are at least in blue.

Anyway, today will be 3 picks at once with some auto-drafting going on, everything will be posted first thing tomorrow (or even at some point today) with the first pick of the final round.

Definitely no fourth colour splash. Our decision here is, do we hate out a big creature we'd otherwise have trouble with, do we hate out the deputy who can help shake off a possession, or do we take riot control.
Riot Control: This is a very niche card. It won't clear their board unless they alpha strike, and if they alpha strike then we're very likely going to be very far behind or dead. It can remove tokens from the game, but very few tokens exist in DGM limited.
Wolf Rider: 4/6 is hard to deal with for us, it can trade with almost everything but will take 2/3 creatures blocking it to take it down.
Deputy of Acquittals: Allows them to remove a possession or reuse an ETB trigger. Also a good combat trick.
While I prefer not to hate while we have viable options, I don't think riot control gets there. The wolf rider is a legitimately big dude and we ought to remove him from contention. I vote wolf rider to hate draft, NOT to play.
