ok so there are really not many flying creatures in DGM, most of which are actually blue. I think this should tell us to get the drake.

I'm going to bed now and are thus passing the pick on to Caley. I hope that he will have the new packs tomorrow on time since I'm out most morning into the early afternoon which might spell a very late pack for us.

I think the drake is wise. The piker having to attack is problematic and the firstblade's colour requirements are a problem. 2 power evading will do more long term damage than a 4/4 haste that becomes a 2/2 vanilla.

Going after the BREAD principle, the Drake has evasion. That and the easier casting cost was why I picked it. :)

Yeah. Well blue seemed to be nonexistant but there's a few here. One of those protect and serves must be foil.
So gate #3. We can take gatekeepers with a slightly higher priority next pack, and assume we can pick up at least two or three more total over the draft.
@vic you mean the last pick? I think you were the last person to comment on it. If you didn't get a chance to read the comments when you voted, the gist was that the firstblade represented an aggro approach, which brings people into D tot he D range more quickly. The counter to that was that the drake represents a very tough flier to block, and that 2 power with evasion will do more damage than a 4/4 haste that becomes a vanilla 2/2 on the ground.
Plus the firstblade's colour requirements were much tougher than the drake.

I'm trying to figure out the double protect & serve, too. It says no uncommons are missing from the pack, so that would be the normal 3. Something's weird. Might be worth asking KrazyCaley about it. Of course, maybe it's the same weirdness that has made all these guildgates be B & W for us, too.

@ vic/all: if you click on the title of the most recent update (atm "Pack 1, Pick 7 June 29, 2013") you will see all comments that have been archived between this and the last pack + all comments that are from an update thats a multiple of three times ago. So basically comments from pick 6 and pick 3.

Agreed, but nothing wrong with what we got, I think. If we get up to 5, then we should probably stop taking them at that point. They'll be just under a third of our landbase by then.

I just feel that this means we're likely to see a gate from earlier wheel and wish we had taken something oth.er than an orhzov gate in an earlier pack

It's tough. Knowing when to take gates in this format is hard. Personally I think everyone else has been assuming they'll see more later, and may soon find that, nope, they won't.
We have a pretty good start on mana fixing and enabling gatekeepers. Those are both very important and powerful in triple DGM.

I see the piker and the firstblade still out and it tells me that no one around us is drafting much aggro. We should consider grabbing as many hasty guys as we can to put every opponent in D to D or T/T range before they can land anything deadly.
