Hired Torturer. Bang.
Thanks for the info on the archiving. It was nice to see the discussion I missed on the Drake/Firstblade.

I maintain running odds on the observer page. Debating whether it would disrupt people's drafting strategy if I revealed the odds occasionally to the teams.

I don't like cluestones very much so form me the only thing worth here is Hired Torturer .
@KrazyCaley why should you reveal the odds? I don't think it would make a big difference as long as all the teams get the same information but I don't really see the point in doing it anyway

Torturer for sure. I would be interested on the odds and don't think they would mess anything up as long as every team gets the same info.
I do think it might effect the draft since teams with bad odds might adopt a new strategy but I don't think that would necessarily make the draft worse.

Ok, forwarded the pick already since it seemed quite obvious.

Sorry for weighing in late again. Church then lunch. I'd vote torturer anyway so it looks like we're good. haha

KrazyCaley I was actually just kidding around. I didn't know that the observers were able to place odds like that. I think that's a great idea. That should be fun for the observers. I would be very curious to see that(where we stand), but I do think it would affect some drafters psychologically, maybe enough to have a slight influence on some decisions. Not necessarily in our pod, but somewhere it would, I'm sure.
I wonder if maybe revealing those odds to us in limited increments might be good. Say at the end and midpoints of each round, for example. I think that's reasonable. It keeps it fun for us without having too much of an effect on the drafting. So that way, the first reveal could take place around now.
What do you think of that?
June 30, 2013 9:54 p.m.
Caley, I just reread your comment and I see that you did say "occasionally", so yeah, I think we're on the same page. Yes, I think occasionally would be good, but not after every pick.

Yeah, my inclination to do so would have been at the end of every pack, but eh. Not really any pressing reason why it SHOULD be done.

Gleam of Battle wheeled back. Looks like green, blue and black are picked quite often while red and white seem kind of open.
I also like the Boros Guildgate , Fatal Fumes and even Riot Control hey, you can't pick everything, right :)

Oh yeah, in case that wasn't obvious: +1 Gleam of Battle .

Happy birthday glorious leader!
Yeah I'm going to have to say Gleam of Battle . Tempting though that boros gate is, we are in a position where we can now wait for gates. And this was what I wanted to pick pack 1.
Just an FYI, you haven't added the hired torturer to the sideboard.

Oh yeah. Putting the stuff in the mainboard now, along with one hundred additional Progenitus :P

Yeah, let's go with the gleam. They'll be at the very least two or three more gates in our colors. Since Vic likes statistics so much, there should be 4 of each gate in this draft and there's no way all the rakdos and boros ones were in this first round. They'll turn up.

Plus, the boros one wheeled. As did the gleam. Boros is clearly not anyone's priority. If we get good enough fixing for boros we could make it a genuine three colour deck.
As an aside, I did a DGM/GTC/RTR draft the other day and got 4 Debts. I was being a moron and just took all the cluestones keyrunes and gates and went five colour lols, so it was a terrible deck, but debt into debt into debt was hilarious.
But, aside from a couple of red based gates in our colours, we do need to start looking at creatures next pack.
July 1, 2013 5:59 a.m.
Wow, Boros looks totally open right now. Well I would say ditto to thebeardedshufflers take on this. I did sit and consider that gate for a minute. And of course the removal would be a fine grab this late too. But what it comes down to is that it looks like this will be a slow format(plus no chiefly Boros opponent), so maybe the high cost of Gleam will work out for us. And I think that we would be fine with only 1 boros guildgate overall. We may see one again with no one chiefly in Boros. But if not, I'm willing to risk it for a powerful uncommon.
So, I'm the stats guy, huh? Okay then. Well on that subject, I'm counting a total of 24 packs for the pod. 8 seats, each with 3 packs sitting in front of them at the start. There are 10 different guildgates, so I'm not seeing where 40 total gates comes from. 24 packs means 24 gates. Seems to me that that's an average of 2.4 of each gate(slightly higher in the event of foil gates), not 4.
So you can see why I was saying we really lucked out with those orzhov gates.
Vote: Gleam

And yeah, I think autodrafting picks 13 and 14 should be fine. Thanks.
July 1, 2013 9:03 a.m.
Gleam of Battle it is then. As tempting as some of the other stuff is. I can't believe what's left in this pack!

Blue seems popular though. We might be fighting for black in pack 2, but that's okay. We can focus on Boros next pack, then Orzhov pack 3.

So, in this pack there's almost nothing of value left. Things I could think about picking:
But I'd say +1 Torturer.
