Yeah It would have been nice to have two, but there's no reason to regret we didn't pick it, because instead, we picked a card we're definitely going to maindeck and that will probably make a greater impact on the board anyway.

Sending the pick to Caley.

Next pack is up guys.

Although Prescient Chimera would look very nice with the Adept we just picked, its double blue makes it hard to splash. For me, the pick is between Battlewise Valor (more fuel for the Adept), and Ill-Tempered Cyclops (a very good hill giant that acts as a removal magnet). I'm undecided for now, let's hear other people's thoughts.

...do we even need to vote on this?

+1 Cyclops

You know that rule that says that a 2/2 for 2 with a usable ability is always good.

Similar rule applies to a 3/3 for 4 with a usable ability. 3/3 for 4 with trample is pretty much the definition of a good "Efficiency" card in BREAD/GREAT.

And it doesn't stop there. He stays relevant throughout the game with the ability to become a 6/6 with trample for 6 mana which is a solid late game creature. Being able to do that at instant speed puts the opponent into some crappy blocking scenarios.

Battlewise Valor is a decent combat trick, but we are already running some pretty high caliber stuff in that field, and it could end up being cut if we end up drafting some more high powered tricks, and at worse case scenario we can pick up other decent combat tricks later in the draft if towards the end we need more. Picking it up just because of the synergy with the adept is a bit...situational don't you think (unless we happen to stumble across another adept).

If the Cyclops ended up getting cut from the deck on the other hand we'd have to have drafted like 4 more Emissarys or something. He's likely going to make the final deck as there's not a lot of other common 4 drops that are as above the curve as he us.

Cyclops is the obvious pick of course, so voting might be irrelevant. I will however wait until aourn midnight GMT in case anybody wants to say something.

Cyclops is great.

Plus one Cyclops.

I'd rather have something better, but it's probably the best card left in the pack.

Well, yeah, I'd prefer something better like a Master of Waves as well, but the cyclops is a great card. It's not just a curve filler by any means.

I mean I wouldn't P1P1 it, but it's definitely a card worthy of being our 4th pick.

I'm down with the Cyclops, an excellent card that always puts in work for me in THS limited.

Decisions, decisions, decisions. There are a few choices in this pack. We have a Hoplite here, which is really nice, but does not really comply with our plan where blue is only a splash. Then, there is another Cyclops that we can add to our 4-drop circus, or a Titan's Strength, and also Evangel of Heliod, which isn't that good in our current build. I kind of lean towards another Cyclops, although it would be our 5th 4-drop I believe, and that's probably enough. My thought also keep returning to the hoplite though... What do you guys think?

Well this could be a good time to discuss how many creatures we want and how our creature curve should look.

We are always in need of more 2-3 drops, but this doesn't necessarily add to our final deck total since Flamespeaker is red and it'll be difficult to run both red and blue early game.

How many 4 drops are we looking to have in our final deck? Cyclops is a great card and I don't think adding our 5th is too much, but I'm worried about opening pack 3 and along comes more Emissaries. If we are planning to take more then 5 then it's probably the best pick here (though we should really start prioritizing lower drops hmore, not that we've seen a ton in R/W). Even if we only want 5 it's not a bad pick since even if we get a Emissary in pack 3 we can pass it and take a Nymph instead.

I'm leaning towards the cyclops since if we couldn't justify taking a vaporkin we certainly can't justify taking a W/U 2 drop.

Though just saying. We have a terrifying line-up of 4 drops lol.

Absinthman says... #15

Yeah, I mean, taking another Cyclops is not bad. Our 4-drops will become really fearsome indeed. And you're right with the Vaporkin and the Hoplite. There's also Titans Strength but I'd rather have another Cyclops. Though, we have to start focusing on things that will help us safely get to 4 mana. We need either lower drops or creature removal, latter of which will be quite hard to get I think.

Battlewise Hoplite is a great card, but as Supersun pointed out, it will probably be very difficult to get a red, white, and blue mana source by turn 3. If only there were dual lands that weren't rares. I never thought I would say this, but I miss Guildgates.

Another Cyclops is good. It's really nice that both the mana and the Monsterous costs only need one red source.

Sitrep, as I see it:

We are an midrange R/W deck with a little bit of Heroic. We are currently considering splashing a tiny bit of blue in order to cast Sea God's Revenge to close out the game.

The cards in this pack that best follow that line of strategy are Titan's Strength, Ill Tempered Cyclops, Battlewise Hoplite, and Evangel of Heliod.

Evangel is clearly for the late, late game, and only if we get more white permanents. I think it's too risky of a card to grab right now.

The Hoplite fills out our early slots nicely, but not in the way we want to. We aren't reliant on Heroic, and blue is currently only our splash color. It is unwise to put ourselves in a position to need our splash color on turn 2.

Titan's Strength is good and cheap, but useless without targets. I think we would need more reliance on Heroic to really want to take this card early.

That leaves Ill Tempered Cyclops. He's a decent body for 4 with upside. I think he feels like our best bet.

+1 Cyclops

Seems like every card in our deck's gonna be Absinthman in the end. Imagine the stream: "So, now I'm gonna play this 4-mana Absinthman, and next turn, I'll play this another 4-mana Absinthman and leave up this 1-mana Absinthtrick in case my opponent tries mess with some of my Absinthmen." Hell, that's gonna be so confusing to viewers... and to me too I guess.

@Dallie: I've noticed your inquiry towards KrazyCaley, as to what streaming software he uses. Did you by chance get any answer? I couldn't find it.
