It's way too good to pass, even if it is only in our splash colours.

Yeah, but there is nothing for us in the pack anyway. We aren't going to take Ephara's Warden as an additional 4-drop which is way below the power level of our other 4-drops, Scholar does nothing for us, Demolish is junk...

THE FUUUUUUUU
The hell is a pick 6 Griptide?
I mean I was worried about our lack of removal spells in case a Heroic card got too big or an asp hit the field, but if we get more crap like this...

Hell yeah, removal! The rest of this pack must have been awesome though.

It's a pretty good signal that the people to our near left aren't running any form of blue.

Unless a foil Griptide made it to them as well, heh.

What would you rather take in a draft if you weren't running white: a Griptide or a foil Elspeth, Sun's Champion?

In a draft where I don't get to keep the cards? The one that I can play.

I should say if you were running blue but not white.

Usual practice when drafting is to do a backdraft or (rare re-draft) after the tournament ends. All participants lay all their rares and sometimes even foil uncommons on the table and then proceed to pick cards they want for their collection in the order in which they placed in the tournament. If you're playing this format, obviously, the person who takes the first place will take Elspeth. So you must try to make your deck as good as possible to have a better shot at taking something good in the end.

Doing this is better than drafting with the "keep what you pick" rule, because it improves your skills more than the other format. Beginners like to keep what they pick however, because they feel that they are not gonna win enough matches to get something good in the end. But the problem is that they're also not going to improve much by picking value cards over good playables.

Interesting. I've never done that before. My playgroup gives out packs to winners. I have almost no idea what my LGS does.

In my LGS, we usually draft like "keep what you pick". The house rule is that by default, all drafts are with backdraft in the end. However, if even a single player is against it and wants the "pick = keep" principle, then all other players must comply or leave the draft. Therefore, even though we'd like to play the other way, we usually can't. The reason why they do this is because new players who feel intimidated by the backdraft. There is another store in the neighborhood where they only do backdrafts, but unfortunately, I don't have time on the days they do it.

I'm kinda surprised to see Pharika's Cure this late, but I guess it just confirms what we already were quite certain of that nobody to our immediate left is heavy black.
I see an easy pick here for us with Leonin Snarecaster. Priest is a sideboard card at best.

Cure certainly confirms that black is not being drafted heavily to our left.
Snarecaster is very solid, and with us being somewhat Boros Aggro/Mid with a Blue splash for lategame, I think it's the best pick for us.

I actually think in the right deck the Priest can very well be mainboard material. In fact I had her mainboard in one of my drafts, because there were enchantment creatures everywhere and if she's out turn 1-2 she usually deals at least a few points of damage in addition to making the other guy play differently because he's always aware that she can destroy a good enchantment he might have on hand. She sometimes even drew a removal spell like a Cure or Lightning Strike because of that.

But yeah, the Leonthman is probably the better pick.

Yay, more awesome 2 drops!
We are starting to build a very annoying deck XD.

I love playing annoying decks. In fact, I didn't even realize my decks were so annoying until I was told so by some guy on MTGO after I defeated him twice using two different decks build from Core 2014 starting package. U/R pyromancers countered, bounced or scorched everything while creating and endless horde of elementals, and my B/W cycled Tenacious Dead over and over with Bubbling Cauldron getting me virtually infinite life, and eventually 4/4 angels. "You play really annoying decks!" he said, and followed with a rage quit.

One thing to note. Cure doesn't mean that anyone to our left isn't playing black, but no one to our left is maining black (that or a merchant was in the pack).
Cure isn't exactly the most splashable card, and someone could still be using black as a splash.
Also, I wonder given all the stuff we have passed if someone to our right reconsidered running black lol.
That being said, I think we've seen enough that we can safely say that someone to our right is running some form of white. White in general seems to be fairly choked (not pack 1 blue choked, but still).
They probably aren't running blue (we've seen too many of those gryphons lol).
Near right probably isn't running red given that we got passed 2 cyclops.
Hard to say if they are running green. The packs in general were fairly green heavy.
So besides white, I'm not entirely sure what they are running. Anyone else have any ideas?

Well, this seems pretty sraightforward. Awesome card, easily splashable.
