Rasta_Viking29 No, I was rude first, and I apologize about that. Especially considering I really don't know much about Grixis.

The deck is really coming together, seems like you have the idea. Every card you have listed is a good card. Now you have a good base to start playtesting it and acquire the rest of the cards you need/want. Figure out which cards suit your play style, help you achieve your wincons, answer the problems your meta presents, and how many of each card is right for your deck. Always remember the curve and how it relates to your mana base, the charts on this site are awesome for this.

This is a match between a Grixis Superfriends deck and G/W Aggro, a tough match up for us. They do a great job explaining how to play the decks and do a deck tech at the last 10 or so minutes. I found it very informative.

i would consider Counterflux and Cyclonic Rift . im a grixis player, and i started out uusing Master of Cruelties. i ended up dropping him. ive had too many games where all i have on the field is the Master and he cant win it for me. he gets them down to 1, but he cant kill them. i put in Sire Of Insanity instead. He forces everyone into top deck mode, and it is amazing. angainst control (which uses few or no creatures), he wins games. against aggro, he prevents your opponents fromplaying multiple threats per turn. from there, there is little to no hope for them to stablize. Cyclonic Rift synergizes quite well will Sire, too. essentially, it is a board sweep that gets around hexproof and indestructible

Oh no, you removed Thassa, God of the Sea and Master of Cruelties . I actually liked that little combo you had going and was hoping it was running well. What was the problem you had with it?

haha i was just putting them back in.. playtesting different combinations of cards is all.they are staying put for now. but i am moving stuff around while testing is all.

Ah, okay. :D Well, I'm looking forward to seeing the development of this. I was thinking about changing mine around to use Thassa and Master as well, but I'm having a hard time to decide if it's worth investing in Thassa for it. I'll keep checking for updates! +1

Is a good combo, for what it is. I know it goes against what most grixis decks are running but it works well for me. I only have one in the deck (pulled from the first theros booster I opened) but I get her out more often than not. It's fun. Curious what cards will be in next release we will get for grixis. I'm running three anger of the gods.. But the decks I'm playing against aren't even dropping creatures until turn three.. They will stay in place though. Hope to go try it at fnm this week.

Deck looks good, I think Grixis will work best as more of a midrage deck like this. A couple Desecration Demon s would probably do really well in this deck. The Whip of Erebos could be good too, decreases the value of the opponents removal and fixes the no lifegain problem. Spellheart Chimera with 21 spells could be a threat.

having a tough time deciding between Shock and Magma Jet ..shock is faster for sure, and can follow an Anger of the Gods if need be.. but Magma Jet and that scry 2....

November 19, 2013 10:48 a.m.

I've found Shock to be better than Magma Jet . There just seems to be many more times when I can use shock effectively because of it's mana cost. For 2 mana I'd rather have the extra 1 damage from Lightning Strike because Nightveil Specter , Fleecemane Lion , and Boros Reckoner all see regular play. Also when there is access to blue mana in a deck Turn / Burn is the better choice because as the game progresses it retains the power to kill almost any creature and provides more utility.

yeah, good thinking.. I think ill leave the Shock .. i have Turn / Burn sideboarded for gods or other creatures that i cant handle.. im hoping that between 4 Anger of the Gods 3 Shock 4 Far / Away 3 Dreadbore and 3 Doom Blade .. im good on creature hate! almost too much? I dont know.. it seems to be running well

oh and Ratchet Bomb and Essence Scatter

I got destroyed by 2x Burning Earth last week!

Due to the lack of draw(near zero, outside of Planeswalkers), I'd stick with Magma Jet. You'll need Scry to make sure you can toss away unwanted lands and such, even if it's a higher cost.

And with all the kill spells you have, you should never use Lightning Strike on a Boros Reckoner , because he'll just hit back. Destroying him is way better.

As for enchantment-hate, you could sideboard in Negate or Swan Song to help against enchantments, but Ratchet Bomb is Grixis's best way to remove enchantments, such as Burning Earth.

I'd probably take the Shock out of the sideboard and bring in something like Duress or Thoughtseize . Both will allow you to work better against control, and take away enchantments that give you problems.

good idea, ill likely try that as soon as i decide which i go with for sure, between magma jet and shock.. so far all meta is aggro.. may have to put shocks back to main..

will see!

thanks for the help guys!

What kind of aggro are you dealing with mostly? Like little weenies? Anger of the Gods should solve most of your issues. Other than that, AEtherize is always a fun card for mid game if you feel like you are being overrun.

Care to explain what matchups you are having trouble with in more detail, a bit? I might suggest different things.

sure, ive been to only one fnm so far.. so things could change..

Round 1: 0/2 vs rdw firedrinker satyr, haste and madcap skills.. basic rdwRound 2: 0/2 vs rdw same..he sided in burning earth Round 3: 2/1 vs white I won.. precinct captains and stuff Round 4: 0/2 vs boros lost to Warleader's Helix and Boros Reckoner Round 5: 1/2 vs w/g Path of Bravery Bow of Nylea and creatures.. was a good battle

I think i should be better off this week after the changes i have made.. im running ratchet bomb mainboard this week..

there are alose devotion to U decks but i didnt get matched up with any of those.

November 19, 2013 2:46 p.m.

slinkyshadow says... #25

Ah, you have a lot more RDW than I have here. There's a few of them, but most people here are using Esper control or Devotion decks(Green, G/R, Blue, Black) mostly.

I think you should be fine with the changes you made currently. RDW is very strong early, but if you can get your removal off, you should be totally fine.

Looking at your board currently, I'd be worried about going up against control--but you didn't seem to list that there were a lot of control decks, so you might be okay. I look forward to seeing how you do this week.
