Thalia, Heretic Cathar would 100% be in the deck but unfortunately she will no longer be in standard.

Well she's a strictly better sunwing so of course she'd go in if she could

Tremblayk19 I like the idea of the deck, whoever mentioned Gideon of the Trials I think thats a great idea, I think its a great replacement for Rampaging Ferocidon. Mainly because I dont think lifegain is going to be a popular decktype meaning its more of a sideboard card. There is almost no decks that have lifegain and I dont think Vamps will be good enough to justify a mainboard of it. I think Gideon of the Trials is a much better 3 drop as he will shut down any creature they play and it puts early pressure on the field and since he only costs 3 even if you lose him its not a big deal. all in all +1!

Vampires are definitely going to see some play, and at least at my meta Crested Sunmare is a thing. Besides, it's the second ability that really matters for ferocidon, as anyone playing creature heavy will suffer for it

Also instead of Vraska's Contempt I think Settle the Wreckage is a much better card, its mass exile and instant speed, the lands dont matter much if they swing out with everything, every turn (Ramunap Red) and you force them to top deck they arent going to get anything very powerful. To summarize:
Mainboard:
Sideboard:
-1 Dusk
Settle the Wreckage is to good not to use especially in a deck like this, I honestly think you should mainboard it the lands are not a big deal against any deck other than Dino's, but then you just keep Dusk to shut them down to. I would take out Vraska's Contempt because it may be target removal but there shouldnt be any thing you will need to use it against that your normal removal wont work. Other than the gods, but even then Wreckage will stop that as well.
Qolorful There just isn't enough support for Vamps right now, especially with Temur and Ramunap Red remaining on top, and of all the new tribes Dinos are the only ones that got enough support right now. I understand every local meta is different (mine is very tier one-ish) but for sure at the tier one level (as of XLN) Vamps and Merfolk will not see play. Maybe later they will get the cards they need but its not good right now. Also the second ability also affects you, this is a very creature heavy deck so you will also suffer from the card.

What I don't like about ferocidon is the symmetry. Because this deck is so creature heavy I will also take some damage from ferocidon and having Angel of Condemnation and Rampaging Ferocidon is kind of a nonbo. I also do agree that life gain/vampires will be fringe playable at best. Perhaps it deserves a sideboard slot, I don't know.
As for Gideon of the Trials, I just wish it was better haha. I guess stopping a single creature from dealing damage for a turn is okay.

It's hard to say that before seeing them in play though. Re mtg community is historically bad at judging power levels of cards and strategies before they were played. For example, in emn people thought emrakul was underwhelming, and lili was trash. Both dominated the meta, and emrakul got banned eventually. All I'm saying is i think both of those tribes probably have more potential than people are giving them credit for. we will have to watch how it plays out
Also, if gishath ends up being a thing, Gideon will absolutely destroy him. As people will ramp up to him and you get Gideon out and they get no reward

Tremblayk19 Yeah I would agree Rampaging Ferocidon is not that great in this deck, and another interesting thing I saw was Angel of Condemnation can bounce Gideon back to 3 loyalty if you turn him into a creature-attack-then bounce to restore to full loyalty. Just something neat plus Gideon puts on alot of pressure once you stabilize the board and dont forget you can have more than one out after XLN hits!
Qolorful you are absolutely right, we don't know for certain I am DEFINITELY not a pro but I think I can say that of the tribes WOTC gave all the love to Pirates and Dinos, Vamps and Merfolk didn't get as much love. I could see some vamps being in other decks but a Vampire life-gain tribal just doesn't seem likely.

I can bounce Gideon with Angel, but I cannot have more than one in play unless I play Gideon, Martial Paragon also, which won't be happening.

Tremblayk19 True true but 2 is a good number I think.

Whoa, i didn't think i'd see D+T in standard again but im very happy to see it! What do you think are your best match ups and worst match ups currently?
September 18, 2017 9:30 a.m.
if you use Settle the Wreckage you might consider Aven Mindcensor so you could mitigate the downside of it. while also having another evasive threat. just a thought

I did a test and heres my write up
Your deck VS nayasaurusrex
Game 1 and 2. Show
I tried my best but maybe you can give it a shot with you piloting your deck, i think i made some misplays but i tried my best to be unbiased and fair and knowledge etc. Hope you enjoy reading and maybe can learn from it somehow? I think you need to move the Duress to Sideboard, or swap it for Harsh Scrutiny in the sideboard somewhere.
September 18, 2017 10:47 a.m.
Harsh Scrutiny is probably going to be better against all the tribal that will happen now that I think about it. I also think the previously mention aether born would really help with removal

Thank you for taking the time to write that in depth play test. Dino's were a deck I figured it would struggle with and it was there reason for the Vraska's Contempt in the sideboard earlier.
I don't think I'm ready to get rid of Duress. Dino's is a matchup in which I know I will be boarding it out though and so it shouldn't be judged by this match.

a single Bishop of Rebirth in the sideboard might be worthwhile for removal heavy matchups, if only to get back your bears faster then they can kill them

hey, love your deck, but i'm bit afraid, cause u don't have any draw ... put at least some cycle lands.Again, love ur deck <3

I have tentatively added 2x Canyon Slough, I also have Deadeye Tracker's explore and Cast Out's cycle for further card draw.
Eggsofwrath I think the copies of Dusk / Dawn will be enough for some recursion. I don't think I want to muddle the creature base any more than it already is.
Appreciate the suggestions!!

Gideon has the ability to pull you out of a bad situation. He's a free 4/4 blocker every turn, or he fogs your opponent's strongest creature. Not to mention if you're ever in a bind, you literally cannot lose the game until he's gone. This is where you can clear the board with Settle the Wreckage, keep attacking with your creatures, and get rid of Gideon yourself.
September 18, 2017 8:23 p.m.
For draw power you can use the new legendary black enchantment. Something bloodfast. It's just a really strong Greed

Gideon of the Trials can't block unless you are referring to the fact that the opponent will often attack him rather than us.
And Qolorful, I'm not too worried about adding card draw, but Arguel's Blood Fast is a neat card that could be included if you wanted it.

Gotta have that Aven Mindcensor + Field of Ruin + Ramunap Excavator combo, and mana fixing doesn't matter cause field of ruin does that
September 19, 2017 10:51 a.m.
Lol quite a lot of effort for land killer combo
Edit, quite brutal though

Also, with the check lands reprinted, she can also slow them down!
