I actually like this list. It's very thought out and super consistent.id up the nighthawks though considering your going to need the life gain. And no Dark Confidant

I don't like Bloodhall Ooze in this deck, simply cause it will only get +1/+1 a turn, not +2/+2.
Maybe more removal?
Besides that, it seems strong and consistent. +1

LeaPlath he gets a +1/+1 counter on it each turn. It isnt just until end of turn. It will blow up really fast. I love Bloodhall Ooze in this deck

I just don't think a slow growing dude like him is worth it. He wants to be an early drop and doesn't grow as fast as other cards you could play.

I got rid of Bloodhall Ooze because I only ever used it for chump blocking. As far as one drops go, I need something thats going to buy me a few turns.

Thoughts on adding in Browbeat or Book Burning ? Still, love this strategy!

As for one drops to defend, why not try Jace's Phantasm ? With all that card drawing they'll be doing, they'll be discarding a lot as well. Could be a pretty good one drop defender for you
July 25, 2013 10:39 a.m.
I actually used to run a couple Browbeat s as finishers before I converted this deck to modern. Now thats it's modern, Incendiary Command is a strictly better finisher, and even offers better utility since I get to choose.
Jace's Phantasm is a great card, but I need a one drop that will be an effective stall during the first few turns of the game, and Jace's Phantasm won't get its pumps until much later.

aah I seee your point, if a two drop is alright you could do some Murmuring Phantasm

Ebony Owl Netsuke might be fun if you can keep your opponents hands above the 7 cards.
July 27, 2013 12:13 p.m.
How about Font of Mythos ? Also, to help prevent yourself from getting punished by aggro draws maybe some Darkness in the sideboard could be of use.
July 29, 2013 10:32 a.m.
I actually took out Font of Mythos for Teferi's Puzzle Box a while ago. Yes to Darkness . I was unaware there was a fog in black. I guess that's what I get for only playing standard!
July 29, 2013 10:37 a.m.
Ebony Owl Netsuke would be fun, but I feel that the damage per draw cards are better since they work even when my opponent is below 7 cards and they deal more damage when my opponent draws more cards, whereas the owl deals a flat 4 damage per turn.

Psychosis Crawler since you are drawing cards as well.

Forced Fruition could be fun, as could Painful Quandary .
July 31, 2013 3:54 p.m.
Forced Fruition would be a lot of fun in this deck, but what to take out for it? I could see it replacing Swans of Bryn Argoll , but the swans offer evasion and could potentially be better if my opponent already has threats on the board. Convince me that Forced Fruition is better than Swans of Bryn Argoll and I'll change it :)
I run enough wraths that I want to keep any non-essential creatures to a minimum, but I could definitely see Psychosis Crawler replacing wraths against non-creature-heavy decks. Or if I find Spiteful Visions killing me a lot, I'll just replace it with Psychosis Crawler .
I don't really see Painful Quandary working in this deck. With all the card draw I'll be giving my opponents, they should always have a card to discard.

Forced Fruition is guaranteed draw for your opponent. They might not have any burn at all or evasive creatures, so the Swans may never even be damaged at all. It also can make them rethink how they play when every spell they cast burns them for massive. I'd actually suggest only playing 2 of them, removing 1x Martyr of Ashes and 1x Swans of Bryn Argoll .

+1 I really like the concept of the deck and appreciate seeing someone use Forced Fruition . That card is hilarious.
If the mana cost isn't too much you could try Toil / Trouble to get potentially 11 damage for 6 mana.
August 21, 2013 2:29 p.m.
I'm gonna replace the Incendiary Command s with Toil / Trouble . As far as I can tell it has more damage output, and the fact that it is split makes it worth being one more mana. Also, Toil is basically a 3 cmc Sign in Blood . Better imo

It looks to me like Cerebral Vortex could be of some use in this deck. I dont know if its more profitable than Toil / Trouble but I think its worth a look.

@Dz324Alpha
Oh yeah!. How could I forget that card? Cerebral Vortex
is another good suggestion.
@711Keaven
You should give Cerebral Vortex
a shot as well. It basically says, "Hey, you know all of that damage you took this turn? Take it again plus 4!" That sounds like it would be a lot of fun.
August 22, 2013 12:02 p.m.
Toil / Trouble vs Cerebral Vortex is a difficult debate. They're both better than each other in certain regards.
Cerebral Vortex deals more damage the more cards my opponent is drawing per turn. This can get crazy if I have a Forced Fruition or Teferi's Puzzle Box on the board. It also costs half as much as Toil / Trouble which is awesome. At 3 cmc I would probably play it after my fifth or sixth turn along with something else on my turn.
Toil / Trouble deals more damage for each "damage per card draw" card I have on the battlefield. It also benefits from my opponent consistently drawing cards since it deals damage for each card in their hand. This half will only be able to deal 7 damage since it's a sorcery. It also deals a flat 2 damage. At 3 cmc per half, I'll be playing this on turn 6 or later. The fact that this is a split card gives me a lot of flexibility as well.
Both of these cards deal damage only once making them finishers, so unless I have multiple of them in hand I will probably save it to be the last card I play. Cerebral Vortex can get me a win on turn 5, but only if I drop a Teferi's Puzzle Box on turn 4. Toil / Trouble can deal lethal damage on turn 6, and the cards it relies upon are cheaper and there are more of them. I think Toil / Trouble is a better card in this deck, bu I'm not sure.
