I have a similar concept as I said, but adjusted for what is common in my playgroup.

I would switch x3 Act on Impulse and x2 Wild Guess for x3 Howl of the Horde and x2 Crater's Claws . That ferocious spell combo is unmatched!! x2 Twinflame is a good sideboard card for Crater's Claws against decks that counter burn spells

Act on Impulse is good in a red deck with low CMC, but with so many expensive and majestic dragons I feel like it's too much of a risk. It would be to easy to cost yourself the game by exiling clutch draws on turns you can't afford to play them.

I'll also amend my last statement and suggest sideboarding x3 Twinflame for Lighting Bolt, not Crater's Claws

New red spoilers today :D

Tormenting Voice is the new Wild Guess , Arc Lighting is the new Flames of the Firebrand and Dragon Grip would be an awesome enchantment for this deck

Okay, all the Khans of Tarkir cards have been spoiled. I think the best replacement for Dragon Egg is Prophetic Flamespeaker , and the best replacement for Dragon Hatchling is Mogis's Warhound because of how it combo with Flamespeaker. Other potential replacements are Eidolon of the Great Revel for deadlier burn damage, Jeering Instigator , Horde Ambusher and War-Name Aspirant

Dragon Grip would be great for Stormbreath and friends, and Burn Away is a really powerful card to sideboard against Delve Decks

I would suggets Tormenting Voice instead of wild guess, just because if you happen to get a land of another color, then you can cast tormenting voice, also wild guess is not standard.

nnewbury9469 Technically Wild Guess is still Standard legal, as it was printed in M14, and Khans is not officially released until tomorrow. I believe there's a reason the deck name says "On Hold", and that reason is because half the cards in the deck rotate out, and he hasn't put up a post rotation list for it yet.

Lol, I just read the updates (I probably should have read that before posting), and that is why the deck is on hold..

Why you dont use Lightning Bolt istead Lightning Strike ?

I love where this is going, but I think I'll wait to build it until the large set Dragons of Tarkir comes out. It's going to pour out dragons and offer stronger options for a dragon tribal deck. But if you playtest this and it starts kicking ass keep us posted, because nothings more satisfying then winning with legendary dragons :D

I doubt it will be kicking ass in standard with Monastery Mentor in the mix, That card is bananas! I've been mostly playing draft anyway, I might put this together or I might wait until Dragons comes out. I certainly will be putting a build similar to this together if they reprint Dragonspeaker Shaman. (Which I think they will)

I couldn't do it man, I couldn't wait so I caved and built the deck! It just looks like so much fun ramping into those legendary dragons and whipping out a Crux of Fate. I'll start playing with it and let you know how it preforms. In the meantime lets keep updating and improving it as well as we can. The first thing that came to mind is maybe Crucible of the Spirit Dragon and Twinflame?

CSchademann says... #15

I'm glad to hear it! I might just have to do the same. I really like Twinflame (I have no idea why I always manage to forget about that card) but Crucible of the Spirit Dragon just seems so slow. I also pulled Searing Blood from the sideboard and replaced it with Temur Battle Rage because that card made my day at the pre-release.

This deck is right up my alley! What are you thoughts on Utvara Hellkite?

January 20, 2015 3:53 a.m.

Liaramancer says... #17

Hello BronzeBacon :D This deck used to have Utvara Hellkite in it when it was mono red, but it's a standard deck and Utvara Hellkite rotated out. Don't worry though, Dragons of Tarkir is going to release new mythic mono colored dragons for sure! Speaking of the original Death by Dragons deck, I built it and have been working on updating it for a long time. It's become a mono red devotion deck, a spiritual successor that I call Soul of Tarkir. Wargoat47, you're one of the best deck builders I know and I would be honored if you took the time to review the deck and help me edit it. One thing is that I never know when to use 3 of a card D: Thanks, and here's the link <><><><><><><><><><><> http://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/soul-of-tarkir/

Ahh yes of course. Forgive my stupidity. I'm still a relative newcomer to the magic scene and am getting adjusted to the rotation. Regardless I'm still loving the look of this deck right now. Questioning if I want to build this or just wait for Dragons, it seems so far away.

Liaramancer says... #19

The prerelease is March 20th, so it's exactly two months away. And you shouldn't worry about adjusting to the rotation because they're changing it after Dragons of Tarkir when the Tarkir block ends. After that each block will be two sets and standard will be the two most recent blocks.

Liaramancer says... #20

Are you going to make any changes now that Dragons of Tarkir has been spoiled? An obvious choice is switching Furnace Whelp for Thunderbeaks, but what about those dragonlords?

March 8, 2015 3:48 p.m.

Liaramancer says... #21

I can see this deck shaping up THE MONO RED TRIBAL DRAGON THAT WAS ALWAYS MEANT TO BE!!

good deck. People should run more red-green dragon decks! They rock! If you want burn try Super-Burn by me (nivek77)

nivek77 says... #23

for more mana try Sylvan Caryatid or Voyaging Satyr

June 23, 2015 12:22 p.m.

CSchademann says... #24

I've definitely thought about Sylvan Caryatid vs Dragonlord's Servant, there's plenty of other ramp alternatives too. I'm sure we all have plenty of cards to look forward to seeing from Origins and Battle for Zendikar as well.

Very nice, have you thought about Moonveil Dragon? A bit high CMC, but the mass firebreathing is fun.
