Utvara Hellkite? I know it's kinda high cost, but once you get it out, Tempest and Valkas get really stupid, really fast. And if you have a Thunderbreak out too or a vastwood in hand, it really helps to keep him alive.

After a rather long line of thought, I advise you not to choose Avaricious Dragon He does not really belong in your deck. You have too many spells that you would be forced to play in YOUR OWN turn, so you could never play anything in your opponent's turn when Avaricious Dragon is out.I know I give you a lot of suggestions and perhaps some are bad, but have you thought about Descendants' Path instead? I just feels more natural for you, already running green, to go with this instead. (Also having the ability to shuffle your library with your "thinning lands" Perhaps you should release Hunter's Insight from its duty.
I am thinking about splashing green for this card. I am not sure that you have enough "dragon-density" in your deck to really abuse this card but it would definately split any enchantment removal hate between it and Dragon Tempest...

RandyRanderson Thanks for the recommendation, I do like Utvara Hellkite it's a killer in my EDH deck. I used to run it in this deck but the games always ended before I got the chance to play it. I think I'd have to change this to a ramp deck to effectively use Ultvara, and that isn't something I'm ready to do just yet.
DIVA I think you're correct about Avaricious Dragon, This deck does require playing cards at instant speed so it's not a good fit, still feels tempting though. As for Descendants' Path I used to run a copy in here but it never really felt like it did me much good (much like Domri Rade which it replaced) and I think you're right about it being because of the lack of "dragon-density" in this deck, I'm not totally against giving it another chance though. Thanks again very much for all the suggestions, I appreciate all of the ideas.

Using SKUFFLEZ mana acceleration technique could lead to a T4 Jugan, the Rising Star. I love this card because as is yes its a 5/5 for 6 but with Dragon Tempest out it gains Haste, can attack right away and even if it is victim of removal you get something out of it. Also a diamond in the rough is Moltensteel Dragon as a possible 4 drop (losing 4 life for cheaper casting) with Phyrexian cost Firebreathing, it could quite possibly allow you to trade a chunk of life and whatever you have left to dole out mass damage. Definitely a risk in Modern but I have seen it work in the past, admittedly with miniscule success rate.

I like Pokemaster325's idea of putting Jugan, the Rising Star in, although it would require a lot of changes and you would need to restructuralize your land and mana outlet.
One thing I would like to mention though is the undeniably good combo with Slumbering Dragon and the +1/+1 counters from Jugan, the Rising Star.

I didn't originally connect the dots with Slumbering Dragon and Jugan, the Rising Star SKUFFLEZ but it definitely would be a positive

Pokemaster325 Thanks for the recommendations. Jugan, the Rising Star is clearly an awesome card and as DIVA pointed out would work out amazingly well with Slumbering Dragon, however I'm not really interested in making the changes to the deck suggested by SKUFFLEZ as it stands. Nothing against the ramp strategy just not what I'm looking for, If that's something you're looking for I'd recommend How to Wake Your Dragon by Emrakool which isn't listed as modern but could be and is worth taking a look at.Moltensteel Dragon however is a different story, I run one of these in EDH and it kicks ass, I think I'll have to give it a shot in this deck. The life loss could be an issue considering the number of shocks/fetches but it's still worth trying I think. Thanks again for commenting!

I've actually considered the same concept, though at first I figured Scourge of Valkas would be ideal in a Dragonstorm deck. However, too many key cards have been banned for this to be a viable option in Modern.
While I haven't come up with a design yet, I have tinkered with a few ideas including running Heartless Summoning and Broodmate Dragon in a Jund version.

Broodmate Dragon is really cool, I've probably never considered it because I was (still am a bit) very reluctant to splash . Thanks for bringing it up though.

a good Sideboard card for tron or robots can be Hellkite Tyrant

Great card, I think my deck is to slow to get the full effect of Hellkite Tyrant, I'll stick to the overloaded Vandalblast but thanks for the suggestion!

Due to your land production, why not play some Dragonmaster Outcast? Unless met with immediate removal, he could be a great mid-late game bomb with Scourge or Tempest up and running. Plus 6/6 kinda hurts

That's a good idea and it's cheap with that reprinting. Any thoughts on what to take out for the outcast?

Well, you really only want 1 or 2, since he is easily removed. I figure maybe drop a Vines for 1, possibly a bolt for the other?

I'll pull out a vine, test it, and let you know how it goes.

Duuuuuuuude you should totally run Draconic Roar. That card is a beast in my Modern dragons. Good luck!

Love the deck. Curious why you aren't running any ramp like Birds instead of Farseek? How has it ran so far for you? I have a similar list that's more ramp heavy than removal heavy although I try to run Terminates in the sideboard
CSchademann says... #1
Oh, I hadn't thought about birds getting haste with dragon tempest, that is a really good point, now that I'm trying to run I'll have to try this out. My only issue with Dragonlord's Servant was that it wasn't ever a threat on its own, which normally isn't an issue but it created a situation where I'd have a board full of 1/3 goblins and anytime I'd played a (very cheap) dragon it'd be killed instantly because they knew what to save removal for. I replaced Servant with Vines and it seems to be better, so far. Thanks again!
