Yo, just finished our playtest!

Damn, good job man. You wrecked me. That being said, you had a pretty good matchup considering I basically fold to exile effects, but you still did a really good job holding me down.

I don't have a lot of advice, but I'll tell you what I found.

Detention Sphere really underperformed, but I don't really use that many permanents I suppose. Personally, I might change it out for something quicker.

I also think 4 Jace, Architect of Thought is too many, I kept getting stuck with an extra in hand.

In general this was a solid deck, you beat me both matches. Props yo.

Jp3ngu1nb0y In a new Standard where the meta is heavily aggro and creature based decks, Detention Sphere is amazing at killing and sometimes giving a 2 or 3 for 1. Jace, Architect of Thought is also an automatic 4 of man, he is a card advantage engine that helps slow down those aggro decks until stabilization!

I don't question Detention Sphere being a good card, but with 4 Verdicts mainboard as well I feel like you're overpreparing for aggro. Usually the Spheres sat in hand for a few turns against my control deck.

As above, Jace is awesome, but with the Planeswalker uniqueness thing he was sometimes dead in hand.

@Jp3ngu1nb0y, D-Sphere seems really good in this meta, where it's basically R/x or the mirror match. I'm might cut one Jace, I'm not sure.

@skillreel, I'll go check it out.

@Loonrider783 thx! If you wouldn't mind +1ing again, I don't think it went through.

Why is tho called Death By EXILE! when the only card that exiles is ashiok? If you removed ashiok, this'd be an average run of the mill control deck. And it's not even original.

Hi! Just saw this deck. Definitely +1. It's a lot like my esper control deck Heisenberg. I'll be taking mine out for the first time tonight (just got the last cards I needed on Saturday). I played American control before the last rotation and just switched to esper. Our decks are pretty similar, so please check it out. Any advice would be appreciated and maybe it would give you some ideas too. Again great deck. -Apop.

"I don't usually play standard, but when I do I would run this deck. Stay in control, my friends."

But seriously, this was a dream to deck test. +1.

TEGHabibird, I agree with that statement. My deck Ashiok turbo-fog would be a much better suited deck for death by exile, but alas I like the turbo fog name as it's the closest thing to turbo fog in only esper colors...

This looks much better I still feel like 4x Detention Sphere is too much 2 or 3 feels right. in my deck I have done alot of work by adding 2x Elspeth, Sun's Champion .AEtherling has been a great closer for a while and still is now but elspeth just craps out guys, bored wipes big threats and just wins games I will +1 for a really solid deck and hope you do well with it and if you could take a look at my deck I would like to get your input the Deck is called Esper Walk

I like 4x Detention Sphere : there are lots of artifacts, enchantments, and indestructible creatures out there that makes me want to have something flexible to draw into.

I also like Elspeth a lot, but pretty sure Chubbub doesn't want it. After following this deck for awhile, I'm considering whether to go to 3-4x Jace, Architect of Thought in my esper control deck.

@Smaug1007, it's in the sideboard.

@Kyuwrath and Alizer313 thx for the compliments, I really appreciate them.

@TEGHabibird and Inces_Velus, I couldn't think of a better name, and it sounds kinda cool. Plus I like the line in The Dark Knight Rises.

@BradMullins, Apoptosis, and jokercrow, thanks for the compliments, I will go look at all of your decks later today.

I do like the name though, but maybe toss in a Crypt Incursion ? or two? si that once something hits the grave you can exile it and gain life...

It may because I'm not an Ashiok expert but I think you need a way to answer Whip of Erebos . Some kind of permanent bounce like Cyclonic Rift would be helpful against the ever popular mono black devotion decks.
