I started playing legacy about 4 months ago. I wanted to play a deck that did not run Force of Will, play dual lands, or play blue at all. Legacy looked all the same to me. So I did some research and found death and taxes. I fell in love immediately. It is the most diverse playstyle of any deck I have ever played. The core principle of this deck is to deny your opponent the mana needed to cast spells, locking down your opponents creatures in multiple ways, and beating down with multiple small creatures at once. It also uses stoneforge mystic as an alternate win condition. Please upvote and help, as this deck is still progressing. The core principle of this deckTHE CARDS

Lands

Lands are an essential part of a Death and Taxes deck. They are where most of our mana denial is, and provide exellent utility.

Karakas - A versatile and incredibly useful card. Can be used to return attacking enemy legendary creatures, save our Thalia, Guardian of Traben, or combo off with Mangara of Corondor, which we will talk more about later.

Wasteland- A legacy staple, and the core of our mana denial. Can keep multiple decks off their feet for a long time, and is especially helpful if you can get out it and an aether vial turn one.

Rishadan Port- Our other piece of mana denial. Keeps our opponents off their feet for a long time, can also lock them out of one of their colors.

Creatures

Creatures are the bread and butter of Death and Taxes. They shut down opposing key cards, Deal damage to our opponent, and make it very difficult for our opponent to get anything done.

Flickerwisp- A signature of Death and Taxes. Can be used to shut off opposing lands, can be flashed in with Aether Vial to save a creature, can get rid of an enemy blocker, or re- trigger Stoneforge Mystic's ETB ability, while having a flying beater left over. Extremely versitile card.

Mother of Runes- This card is dirty. It gives you a way to get around enemy blocking creatures, saves your creatures from enemy removal, and essentially ensures that your creatures don't die. Can stop Abrupt Decay!

Phyrexian Revoker- One of our most important lockdown cards. Shuts down planeswalkers like Lilliana and Jace, and other important activatable cards.

Serra Avenger- Just your normal super efficient beater. Nothing special here.

Spirit of the Labyrinth- Keeps opponents from overwhelming you in card advantage. We don't have any draw, so we can be left in the dust without this card.

Stoneforge Mystic- We all know why this card is so great. It is a legacy staple, and possibly the most efficient win condition in the whole game. If you are in white, you play this card.

Thalia, Guardian of Thraben and Vryn Wingmare- Important against spell based decks such as burn. Makes it very hard for them to do anything efficiently. Also makes people pay even when using alternate cost for FOW.

Mangara of Corondor- Useful removal that can be put on the battlefield with Aether Vial. Also can go back to your hand after you exile something with it with Karakas , as the exile after use effect is not an alternate cost. We are able to bounce it back to our hand before it gets exiled, but we still exile the enemy creature.

Artifacts

Artifacts are important in death and taxes, as they provide our win conditions, and one of our most important engines in Aether Vial- It is an extremely versatile card that can put out creatures at instant speed without having to pay their costs. How is it ever fair.

Batterskull - Stoneforge Mystic's accomplice in crime. It is this card that makes Mystic so powerful.

Umezawa's Jitte- Another powerful card to fetch with Mystic. Also just a broken card, powerful in any stage of the game.

Sword of Fire and Ice- A ultra- powerful equipment that helps shut down blue and red, two of the most powerful colors in legacy. Triggered ability is our only way to get card draw, very important.
